      Ditto! Mysteries keep things interesting and exciting but, considering all the unknown things in the lore that GW has revealed in the last few years or so, I worry that questions like; what are the Watchers? Who were the 2 Astartes legions erased from history and why? What happened to the lost Primarchs, and all the other questions that keep the fans wondering and debating amongst themselves, will all in turn be revealed. Ending forever every theory voiced of such things and the imaginative reveries some of us would then walk in that world.
      They got Star Wars. They got Star Trek. They even got Tolkien..... I won't be holding my breath for their 'reimagining' of 40k to ensure that, "it better reflects the world we live in today ".

    • @starhammer5247

      @@Pangolin-Mandolin GW isn't likely to do that. They may have some retarded business decisions in the past regarding their IP but they know for damn fucking sure that their readers and players are here for the universe as it is. Making alterations so that it's more "safe" will just alienate the player base, resulting in a net loss, and they know this. GW is retarded, but they aren't fucking brain dead.

      @@starhammer5247 Yeah, I get where you're coming from. Because, you're right, GW (although always keeping 3rd party access to their I.P. severely limited and restrictive) have made some questionable decisions about how to use their I.P.s and since the big shake up, a decade or so ago, they've been much better about when, where and how they do things (including licences). And, taking into account how super anal they've always been around that stuff, upon hearing about Henry Cavill and Amazon doing a 40k series, there is good reason to be optimistic. But, (and I hate to use this) look what has come before. The Tolkien estate was usually pretty strict on what could be done and not....now we have, "Women are always the best at everything ever, men are always stupid, aggressive or duplicitous and white man bad!". They did that to Tolkien! And at the same time proclaim (without a hint of irony or sarcasm) about how proud they are with what they created. Star Trek hurt. The, 'Rings of Power' actually made me angry. Henry Cavill has always come across as a class act and I just hope that he can put actions behind his words. But regarding, the lost legions....no!!!! Keep it a mystery where contradictory hints of their origins surface from time to time....😉

    • @starhammer5247
      @starhammer5247 Год назад +2

      @@Pangolin-Mandolin Amazon also released Invincible and The Boys, those shows seem to be doing well. GW have already hinted that the Eleventh Primarch is held in the Dark Cells underneath the Emperor's Palace. They've released scraps of information on how the Eleventh was apparently one of the most loved of their brothers and how the Second was prideful for a Primarch. They're slowly unveiling the information for some sort of massive pay-off. There are some secrets that need to remain secret, such as the Watchers, but other secrets need to be revealed at some point. Also, as you said, GW is extremely anal about their IP. If some dumbass tries to fuck with Warhammer lore to push an agenda, like making Space Marines girls or gay, they will pull that fucking plug faster than Perturabo left the traitors when Horus fucked him over.

It definitely seems that GW is readying the stage for a, "McDonald's rerelease of it's Shesuan (?) sauce" type of reveal. Something people have been thinking about for a decade+ with uncertainty, suddenly being answered. Like you, half of me really wants to know wtf happened but, once they answer that, one of the biggest mysteries in 40k no longer exists... as much as I want to know, just as much of me doesn't at the same time.
      But, yeah, not all I.P.s adapted for the screen have been destroyed, so there is room for cautious optimism. But, with that said,.....The Rings of Power is going to act as a deterrent for a long time. They did that shit with intent.

    "Where it stopped. A shudder - a rare sensation - ran down the Changeling’s borrowed spine, the shadow of an instinctive reaction born from its time wearing mortal flesh. Skin prickled and the servos in the illusion of its power armour whirred as its fists clenched. Around it, for the first time since it had set events in motion, Fate buckled
    There was something at the far end of the cell corridor. The Changeling could not so much see it as sense the absence of the aether around it. To the daemon’s warp-sight, the thing was really an un-thing, a black void without tangible thoughts or emotions to define it.
    The daemon tried to look upon the un-thing with Azrael’s flesh-eyes. It was diminutive in size, its form hidden beneath the thick folds of a bone-coloured cloak, as though in imitation of the Lion’s sons. The shadows beneath its deep cowl were utterly impenetrable, as dark to mortal eyes as its soul-presence was to the Changeling’s warp vision.
    It did not move. It did not have to. The Changeling found itself taking a step back, the daemon’s flesh quivering. Fear was something the Changeling could not feel, only feed upon, but the sight of the un-thing watching him from the shadows caused the daemon an indefinable, icy discomfort.
    The Changeling could not stay here. It could go no further. This part of the wider plan was unnecessary anyway, a mere addendum to the ritual that would carry the daemonic trickster away, and drag the Lions with it. The Changeling doubled back the way it had come, the cells untouched. Fate’s weave morphed, the future a newborn, fresh entity."

    Back in the days GW did a Doctor Who and Judge Dredd range they actually made subtle hints that they all exist in one setting. The Arbites are (ideological... mostly) descendants of the Adjudicator order (first established on screen in DW: Colony in Space/ Frontier in Space but later expanded in the VNAs) who in turn are descendants of the Judges of Judge Dredd. Even though the original gang of metal heads, weirdoes and anarchists behind writing large chunks of all 3 settings (pre RTD bullshit) aren't working for GW anymore a lot of the writers that are are their mentees and aprentices. Thus weird stuff like Ragnar finding a giant decapitated Dredd statue under the Navigator spire, implied appearances of the Gods of Ragnarok, the Ordo Chronos and their odd shaped drop pods and of course the Watchers (who are very reminiscent of the Time Lords in their first appearance in The War Games) keep popping up.
