LLCurrio Sweeps like this can only be obtained with first mastering of 3 sting sweeps... so even though they may seem like crap they are basic arpeggiated triads and that's where it all begins
@@nickgrennan1164 great advice. When first learning the sweeping mechanics it's best to start slow and work with 2 or 3 strings. Then continue to build on that by adding more strings. Also, legato turn arounds, slides, taps - all that can come later if the foundation is solid.
I watched this video 8 years ago when i was learning sweep picking 😂. Im back just to learn the intro solo. Best sweep picking tutorial on youtube btw 👆
I'll go ahead and say that this is probably the best sweep picking lesson on youtube. Because either the lessons are very easy or they are out-of-the-world, this is just about perfect also well explained. Since the people trying to perfect their sweep picking are already good guitarists, they need a slightly challenging lesson to practise and not the way to easy 3-string shit. This lesson is great not too easy and not too hard. Thank You Josh.
dude i have searched everywhere for some help like this and i haven't found any videos this in depth about sweeping the minor scale. thanks man. post more vids please. you are a great teacher.
Dude, I just wanted to thank you. I've watched so many sweep picking videos trying to get over this hurtle and your lesson was the first to make sense to me and help me progress. Started the first arpeggio at 60bpm and practicing between 75-90 bpm in just a few hours. Keep up the good work and post more lessons if you're able. Awesome playing.
Apparently that riff at the beginning just wasn't good enough for 7 people that viewed this. They moved on to better things, like Lil' Wayne guitar solos.
talafek96 Absolutely. Hope to see that kind of stuff in his solo work. All though, it would make for a great sweep picking section in a new Sylosis song as well lol.
I gave up on trying to sweep a long time ago and I stumbled on this video and gave it another shot and I couldn't be any more grateful. Probably the best instructional video I've seen. Thank you so much 🤘🏼
I really gotta say that the absolute #1 most critical thing to learning how to accurately and cleanly sweep is to ALWAYS practice it with a metronome. Start slow and slowly bump it up as you go! It’s really done a lot for my learning ! Great video btw it was really clear, informative and helped a ton, thanks!
Im with u guys ive been playing for years and I been sweeping for a long time but it seems my sweeping is my weak point of my playing I have tried and watched endless how to sweep pick videos. I just really related to the way he explained everything and know only a week later my sweep picking has improved 100% Thanks Josh keep fuckin rockin
what Josh didn't mentioned is that you have to mute the open strings either with your palm or your left hand in order to get a clean sound. Although it sounds obivious it wasn't for me when I learned sweep picking and it's also not really easy to do.

Got recommended these videos randomly and they're really useful! I've been playing on and off for 10 years but over the past few years I've been practicing sweep picking most days and I can do it pretty well but adding in that 5th string has been the hardest part. I'm not the best player and I think I'm proof that if you practice something enough, even something pretty difficult, you can get there. Being a fan of Avenged Sevenfold definitely gave me the motivation to learn this technique though
Superb. Most videos tell you to use your forearm in a straight up and down motion and don’t alter your attack (not to be confused with flat pick angle) too drastically . This dude blows all that out the water. Just goes to show, do what works best for you. Your sweeping skills are pure badassery 🤘🏻
