I mean he survived one ship being blown out from under him and unlike this submarine that ship was a battleship. Why does that matter? Well that's because battleships have a habit of reacting explosively to being sunk and in doing so have produced some of the single largest non-nuclear man made explosions ever seen.. Being underwater would not help either as many explode underwater as a battleships robust construction allows magazines and significant portions of the ship to remain water-tight and burning. For instances the wreck of the Musashi was found with a huge part of its mid section simply missing because its magazine(s) cooked off and blew a huge part of the ship to scrap underwater. Point is the thousands of tonnes of explosives, propellant, bullets and missiles on the Tanager would have probably blown up in a particularly violent fashion after sinking turning the insides of anyone in the water all runny. The good captain somehow survived this despite his ship going under water in less time than it took for Mobius One to turn around and confirm the sinking, he totally survived the sinking of his submarine.

His skills are definitely commendable, I just thought the difficulty between the shot he described in his story and the one he tries to make after telling it were on completely different scales. Of course, both involve different weapons and circumstances, but I guess the point is if Torres was brave/insane enough to try the first one, then he's the type of person to make any impossible shot.
@@Antifrost Yeah, the context missing is that Torres was gunning a much more stand of the line ship, rather than the Alicorn which is a state of the art long range nuclear submarine. IIRC the gun he's using to bomb Oured has a rough range of I think 3000km, so the fact he's trying for a shot 2000km outside of that range is pretty impressive all the same, he's just getting across that he's very capable of performing feats of marksmanship when the conditions aren't ideal, he's out of effective range, being attacked on by ace pilots and later has to deal with the gun's elevation being stuck and he's fully confident he can make that shot, which if we don't stop him, he makes. Dude IS crazy though, so give or take :'D

Well if we're looking at just the numbers then killing one million lives to save ten million is only a ratio of 1:10, for every one life killed you saved ten lives whereas what we're doing is killing 300 to save one million lives which is about 3333 lives saved for every one killed which is way better.
I always feel bad making one of the P-1s go down in SP3 (you cant save them all without some kind of long range air-to-air special), but god damn is it EZ mode just unloading a buttload of SFFS on the alicorn!!

How can a DLC have a more charismatic villain than any antagonist in the game? I'm not complaining, saying that AC7's antagonists are bad, they're great, and they have their motivations. But Matias Torres, by far, stole the show throughout the game, not just for being a "meme", but for being a genocidal lunatic. Deep down I wanted him to achieve his goal, that would add more spice to the story.

No details are given on the deaths, and maybe it was just the deaths and the prolonged isolation on the bottom of the sea that drove the crew to their cult-like madness. But who knows...
@@xxjethr0xx I just replayed the mission, and they said that out of 370 crewmen, that 352 were rescued. Either they ate 28 people, or Torres used that 2 years underwater to weed out and kill those of the crew who wouldn't support his evil plans. Other than those 2 options, I wouldn't discount suicide either. Imagine being trapped at the bottom of the Ocean with someone like Torres for 2 years, I'd probably shoot myself too.
if that were true, then you have to question why the hell the Eruseans let the crew and capt Torres still serve in the navy, one would expect them to be discharged since cannibalism, even for survival purpose, is pretty taboo. i think those who died killed themselves because they lost hope of being found, i mean, 2 years underwater without communication with the outside world kinda does that.

To be quite honest, Torres was the typical charismatic villain that you can't hate. He's like Syndrome, Ultron, Joker and Raul Menendez.

No details are given on the deaths, and maybe it was just the deaths and the prolonged isolation on the bottom of the sea that drove the crew to their cult-like madness. But who knows...
@@xxjethr0xx I just replayed the mission, and they said that out of 370 crewmen, that 352 were rescued. Either they ate 28 people, or Torres used that 2 years underwater to weed out and kill those of the crew who wouldn't support his evil plans. Other than those 2 options, I wouldn't discount suicide either. Imagine being trapped at the bottom of the Ocean with someone like Torres for 2 years, I'd probably shoot myself too.
if that were true, then you have to question why the hell the Eruseans let the crew and capt Torres still serve in the navy, one would expect them to be discharged since cannibalism, even for survival purpose, is pretty taboo. i think those who died killed themselves because they lost hope of being found, i mean, 2 years underwater without communication with the outside world kinda does that.
