My first true MTB was a 1990 Kona Hahanna- still to this day one of the sweetest riding bikes I’ve owned. Got rid of my Trek Fuel to go back to steel and now have that wonderful Reynolds zip with my Cotic Soul.
Couldn't afford that one back in the day , got a 93 Cinder Cone and then a 95 Lava Dome with Project 2's , Equilibrium and propulsion tires. The Lava dome took me from Glasgow to Fort William with Tyoga Phycho tires . Nobblies for 100 miles . what did i know back then ,,, Kona was always my fave brand
I had a Cinder Cone in 94...I put narrow tires on her and commuted into Manhattan. I had a Pro-Flex back then. Kona was one of the really good MTB companies in the 90's. So many have come and gone...sad...including Kona
Bring her back to as honest a condition as you can , strip the frame , respray in Kona green , get new decals , new wheels nearest to orig. A classic re-born. just look at raleigh bmx restores , a Raleigh tuff burner going for 1,500 quid fully restored. Go for it mate , theres a market for retro and good money to be made if it looks 90s box fresh!!! A lot of work i know but im thinking doing it
@@Tomridesandruns You can just run cables & outers to the noodles missing out the hangers. You wouldn't be able to put the anti brakes on the Kona though without some extra bits

Those shapely Columbus MAX tubes are a thing of beauty. Go for a Project II fork on it.
@@noelsmith1852 just so gutted it’s so beaten up. I’ve wanted a 90s Explosif like this for years….

Great bike! I just picked up a 93 Kona in similar shape. Currently going back together and waiting for parts

The bikes aren't the same anynore thats for sure! Commuting into Manhatten sounds amazing!
Love it. Got a 97 Kula and a 03 Kula Deluxe. Still ride great due to choice upgrades over the years inc. Middleburn cranks and rings. Noice 👍

Love this idea thanks!
Are you not tempted to put the v brakes and cranks on your Ibis Ti bike, they would make it a bit more special
@@jeremynorth I’ve put the cranks on already, need cantilevers on the ibis as it has the handjob cable stop but thanks, great ideas!

Wouldn't say no to the XTR front and rear. Let me know.
