I have been to S Korea due to some audit work of our company and believe me i face so much racism and hate in just 15 days that is the time i start hating korean brands, and their culture also sucks, they judge people based on their looks and you always have to respect senior and elder even when they're just freak. What they show in Kdrama is all lie in reality it's not a good country to live.
I have already suggested before that indian car companies should reach Russia and do some R&D there to make best cars suitable for Russia as well as global market to compete western car makers.

Korean KIA manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh, India is also a place of racism. In KIA manufacturing plant they have a separate canteen for koreans and Indians. Indian workers are not allowed to sit and eat equally with koreans. Lead jobs are not given to Indians. They see Indians as shit even in India. They have a separate housing soceity in AP into which no Indians are allowed to enter. There were few protests happended in AP regarding this racism in KIA manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh and then they made few changes but still high postions are given only to Koreans and racism still exist in KIA plant.

You have missed about pinninfarina acquisition by Mahindra to improve the car design. Understandably Ssangyong would have also benefited in design aspects

Mahindra still has a long way to go. Indian cars however are underpowered, overpriced and poorly built! This is why they have found it impossible to break into international markets.

They are pretty poorly built bro ... They have a shorter engine life. Poor drive experience(in many cases), simple things like rear view and side view mirrors are often inadequate, they tend to over design etc...long list.
Gncap 5 star ratings...people have different views on those(esp. about car safety and what GNCAP really means for it). Many cars worth 20 lacs don't have 6 airbags.
Cars run at lower speeds and have lower horses in India but still don't outperform others in the segment on mileage.
They have a way to go before becoming global players.

Mahindra has been failure in multiple international launches, they are veterans in failed International launches IMO. You want to be a world product, you should succeed in US or EU not countries like Korea. Most of the Korean products are really bad, I have friends who got Korean cars because they looked good and was less expensive, but within a year, they understood why Korean cars are not Japanese cars. Most of the Korean products are crappy e.g. I have a Korean make washing machine and i am struggling with their quality and customer support. These are anecdotal, so are not necessarily apply all the way, but one thing is true, Korea is NO Japan. I like Samsung a lot thought, I think they are innovative and affordable compared to higher quality Sony Tvs, but in case of TV, I am good with whatever quality is provided by Korea, but it is not the same with Cars.
I think Indians with their curse of "Jugaad" and "Chalta Hai Attitude" will not succeed in most parts of the world (moderately maybe in poorer countries) till the current generations of Indian leaders in business are running the show. There is a completely different attitude, confidence and business acumen needed to be competing at world level. Small thinking will NOT work there.
I only hope the next generation of business leaders are not trained and brain washed by the current or older generation of Indian leaders, otherwise there will be another few decades of losing for the Indian companies.

India needs to focus on improving car industry. The demand for high end cars with premium luxury, great power and reliability is growing day by day. I would be more happy to see Indian cars competing with Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo etc high end brands. Also the car tuning industry should be grown. By the name of environment issues Indian govt has always neglected the demand of such initiatives.
My family has never owned any Hyundai or Kia car, but I've started seeing a disturbing trend in both companies wherein their cars are *highly expensive* , but their crash safety is pathetic, and their quality standards have dropped to such levels where *driving their cars can literally be life-threatening* , and I am not joking. Someone had a Kia Sonet whose engine mount broke when the car was being driven at a speed of around 50 km/h. Thank goodness everyone in that car survived, but THAT particular incident convinced me that not going for Hyundai/Kia cars might be a great decision. Even Maruti Suzuki's cars offer much better value for money than these overrated brands' expensive trash.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that the Seltos and Creta also suffered from brake failure issues for some time, in spite of the brake pads being brand new or having lots of life left. The Seltos DCT automatic transmission is also quite unreliable.

I don't think the racism was the part of it. Koreans thought Mahindra was the saviour of Ssangyong at the time, and welcomed them. The real reason why Ssangyong kept failing is not racism, but the lack of competitiveness of Ssangyong product in KDM. Hyundai and Kia are well known for their solid cars, Chevorlet is you know, Chevy, and Renault Samsung has global conglomerate Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. I'm sorry to say this but Mahindra is not know for their product around the first world.
Mahindra is doing really well in Australian and South African markets.

Alturas is actually good car but overpriced

It failed simply because, mahindra didn't care of doing marketing of the alturas and second one is that people in India used to think that who would spend 30-40 lakhs on a mahindra.
