In this video, we will try to understand How did Mahindra instantly become so good at EVs?
Even though it seems like it has happened in a jiffy but actually Mahindra has its own History of making Evs and it started as early as 1999.

Mahindra needs to work on increasing their productions. If one has to wait years not months to get a car then it a major problem and almost a deal breaker.
Evs production line is separate from their other cars
@@ninadpuri9205 it's the reputation which I am talking about. You a person or a company gets a bad reputation today it's affects your future.
I heard that they are slowly increasing their production but making changes in their production line
They are set to buy GM's talegaon plant.their production will definitely get increase.
They are working on it
I've seen Tata's new age (EV) designs are getting a lot more subtle and likeable. Whereas Mahindra's designs are getting sharper and butch, like Tata's did a few years back.
And Interiors are practical
You're right.. Only Tata and Mahindra will lead EV 4-wheel industry in India in Future because Tata is already in the party with expertise in almost all areas that are important for EV manufacturing that helps them keep their costs low. And Mahindra, on the other hand, even if they're late, they can afford to keep their profit margins low or even negative to give Tata a good competition and speed up adoption. Moreover, both have a huge network all over India.
I mean I'm sure that Mahindra has more longer expertise in EVs than Tata.

The cost of Battery alone is 60% in many electric cars. But most of these factories are in west and China. If we started to manufacture the batteries here in india, I am sure the cost would be reduced by 20 - 25%. Hope some company would take initiative in this regard.
People have thought about Lithium battery manufacturing in India 10 years before only. Its just that there is no viable business model even now.
India is a service economy, not a manufacturing hub (like China). We need to make use of what we're already good at ...
Lithium found in Jammu and Kashmir I hope we will manufacture battery here soon
@@marcusravi1684 slowly but we are also becoming manufacturing hub
@@I_killed_that_beard_guy problem is that we dont have technology to make battery it will still take 5-6 years to develop
@@ronitmahawar1193 so what we will wait, everything takes time at least we found reserve and it is not we can make, it is natural
IMO, Honda is not serious even about their ICE cars. They are launching outdated versions of cars in India and afraid to launch or properly market any iconic cars in their updated versions. Same goes for their two wheelers division in India as well. They are busy copying Royal Enfield and Yamaha rather than launching Rebel 300 or Forza 150.
The reason may be the same as was in the case of Ford, which followed a similar path before exiting India. Which may lead to the concern that Honda may move out in less than a decade. Hopefully that will lead to Toyota garnering more revenue from India.
No both toyota and Honda faced problems changing to bs6... Didn't you hear their official report on this? Toyota joined suzuki for this issue until they develop they hybrid together with suzuki...
but Honda couldn't.. Honda always maintained to be a separate OEM...
Bs6 even though is very close or similar to euro 6, engine still need separate development under bs6 emissions...
unlike hyundai and suzuki who redesign a hatchback to sedan instead of developing a sedan from the ground up...
Honda amaze did wonders to Honda but then again Honda likes to fully develop models so they don't concentrate in India..
Honda CBR300 uses same Engine as Honda rebel 300 but at the price of 3 to 3.5lakhs, Honda rebel will be big fail because RE has 650 twins and upcoming RE650 meteor which will kill Honda rebel 300..
Again honda is bringing cbr150 and cbr150 since Yamaha R15/mt15 and ktm125 saw success at 1.7lakh for 150cc engine..
They are bringing premium models wait for it...
Yamaha is also stopped r3 because no one brought it over RE650..
@@THUGPUTIN Yes but that shouldn't stop development of platforms and outer body designs.
Amazing content bro. Being an Automobile engineer with prior work ex at MSIL-Manesar, your content was to the point, crisp and data driven. Keep up the good work!!
Sometimes looking at the cost of manufacturing an EV car, I really think that it will be hard to replace the ICE cars for the next 10-20 years in India. Moreover the cost of raw materials is also skyrocketing given the global demand of EV in the China, Eroupe and North America. In India the best approach will be hybrid solutions. For commercial vehicles we should go with Hydrogen fuelcell technology and for passengers segment we should go for Ethanol and other biofuels.
You are wrong...for normal office goers, it can easily replace ic cars
@@pranjal1480 yes you are absolutely right bro..
@@altafvhora hydrogen fuel cell is a failure worldwide...BMW tried but failed. Toyota makes but nobody buys simply because economics does not allow
Yeah if prices of EV technology don't go down, it'd be a rollercoaster for Indian Automotive Market, as EV production is currently being heavily subsidized by the government, and hence comes the 'lower maintenance' myth. When government stops subsidies, EV owners would complain about paying more for EV maintenance like it's happening in US with Tesla.
Imao, investing heavily in Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric technology would be far better in the long run, as more production of hydrogen would mean costs dropping way more significantly than Lithium, as Lithium's demand is causing prices to rise throughout the world. And I think Indian government is well aware of all this too, hence the push for Hydrogen by Mr. Gadkari.
@@ravenclawgamer6367 100% True. I have utmost respect for Gadkari ji and his vision for India's transport and logistics infrastructure sector. We are truly very lucky to have such person whose dedication towards the nation's growth is unprecedented.

i was not at all surprised when tata launched these cars, i new they were in formaula E for a reason, and they did what i expected from them
Mahindra and Tata For Life 👍
But shares should be of indians not foreigners. Then there will he no use. Just name will be indian but backend it would be different
Tata and Mahindra. new designs and new concepts. proud of India.
I think tata and Mahindra should do partnership in electric segment
Mahindra is doing partnership with VW for EV.it is good for consumers more competition means good products for customers.
It will turn into monopoly
We don't need a Monopoly. A healthy competition is required.

Anand mahindra sir and Ratan tata sir - hum bhi bana lege 😁😁

Battery and motor mahindra will steal from others. Such a shitty company like every other so called fake indian two wheeler and four wheeler company. No creativity or innovation. Just shitty business.
I think this video is way ahead of its time. Mahindra still hasn't become good at EVs. BEV is still a concept at this moment. Roadmaps change, concepts don't necessarily mean they'll get made. Revisit this video in 2028, when we have the answer to how much progress Mahindra has made on it's 200000 EVs sold mark.
BTW, I recently came across this channel and it's really informative. Keep making such videos.
Have You Not Seen Sales of Mahindra E varito..
It's 4th largest selling Electric car in India
Not to Forget, Mahindra has an excellent EV racing team in Formula E which is *not* formula 1 but Ev but instead an diiferent Racing series which is Very unique, they are also going to race in Hyderabad in 2023
I don't get it. Mahindra will launch their vehicles around 2027,, that is after 5 years with 400km of range. But in this fast moving world, I think their competitors will already have launched cars with 600km of range, so basically mahindra will become outdated by then.
We already have MG ZS ev giving 350km of range and most probably next year they will come up with 450km range.
it's a projected concept. it'll improve with time till they finally launch,
agar vo zyada bolke kam range diye to reputation hit hogi
agar vo kam bolke zyada range denge to reputation intact rahega,
they dont go above the belt in these cases.
Considering the current market of India, they don't have a heavy competition like other countries. Japanese brands are already out. Western Brands also don't look anywhere near to come here. TATA and Mahindra are the two most competitive.... Korean and Chinese though have a good presence in India, they can give a good headache to Tata and Mahindra.
This showcase if for investors
great video. explanation is so crisp that one gets a great knowledge of the topic
Wish you huge success Prakash ji

Hme indian brands ko appreciate karna chahiye
Nope
If mahindra wants to improve their image, they really need to work on their interior quality specially the plastics.
As usual other brands want to sell old tech in India so they can maximize on their investments, but we should stand with brands like Tata and Mahindra who want to bring in the best technology. Just look at Kia they launched a older gen Carnival in India, purana maal bechre. Shame.
Concept designs are no where near the actual production vehicle..this applies to all the manufacturers around the globe..I firmly believe all these models plus Tata EV models are concepts
I think these are the closest to production designs, and we will see very few changes.. Mahindra has the track record to shock everyone with their change in designs..
If you follow up pratap bose yk that his concepts are always almost 85-90 % production ready ( H5X T
to Harrier) and ofc it's not possible to make cars exactly like the concept for obvious reasons and limitations
Anand Mahindra himself has tweeted that these are the final designs, this is what we'll get in reality

Wonderful video
tata and mahindra are leading ev market right now but i think as soon as the ev vehicles production becomes more economical in india company like maruti will all of sudden launch an ev that is existing in international market with reduced weight and higher driving range and that would suddenly click the mind of Indian people as range/average is all what most of the indian buyers need
It is my opinion it may be wrong
Good Research
Good content 👍

GREAT 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I think only Renault have the potential to face mahindra and tata ev ,as renault nissan is more experienced in producing mass market low budget ev under 10l which will fulfil ev car dream of a common indian, despite of tata and mahindra upcoming ev ,those who cant afford ev priced more than 15l should have another cheap option near 7l, as per my own budget i will better buy the upcoming kwid ev rather than spending double amount
I agree with your conclusion. However Are you not comparing apples to oranges. Toyota and Honda is developing their own battery pack hence bigger investment. Mahindra developing probably only the mechanical sections consequently their initial investment is low but they are dependent on VW. If VW pulls the plug out what will happen to Mahindra? The real competition is expected from the Chinese EV makers and not the Japanese
TATA ❤️❤️❤️ The Real indian.
.video ki intro main TATA ko add kiu nahi kia hai.TATA Kai bina your video is Half and incomplete
Something say about TATA, INDIA Biggest EV Manufacturer .They are Leading indian EV market at this time
Your video has a lot of wrong information. The most prominent one being that M&M developed the platform in-house. The truth is that M&M did not. They licensed VW's open-source platform and tuned it for Indian roads. They'd get the motors and batteries from VW too, making them VW's largest customer after Ford.
Skillfull bano India ko age le jao nahi toh sab sapna hi rahe jaega.
Mahindra's EV is getting indirectly Rimac's technology.
I am damn sure we should go with plugin hybrids rather than full electric vehicles
i dont know why but i think these foreign companies will regret their decision not to launching evs in india early

Good Job, Japanese companies always want to dump old tech in Bharat market...
Your observation about Indian brand in EV is correct. But Indian brand shud provide best product in all aspect
I like the design.
Correction Mahindra nai launch nahi kiya hai un SUVs ko, sirf showcase kiya hai.
Launch means you should be able to buy it.
Showcase means prototype dikhaya hai, but that the final product is not ready yet.
Tata Nexon, Hyundai Kona and MG ZS EV ka market share apne nahi bataya. Apne Mahindra ka potential market share Kya ho sakta hai Wo bhi nahi bataya. Mahindra has a promising start. But it should be able to deliver as per promise. Pricing is most important. Anyone who can make a vehicle with 500 kms range at a price under 15 lacs will win the EV battle in India.
Thanks for good knowledge. Chinese companies jo car making me he vo Bharat ki electric car market ka bhavisya he.....give some more knowledge..
Because of Mahindra and Tata(Jaguar) both have racing teams in Formula E ... They will continuosly upgrade their cars for better performance thats for sure... So a win-win situation for Indians and an advantage for Tata and Mahindra over other companies
