This is one very good movie, old, but good. The cast was amazing, no special effects, no gimmicks, just plain old good acting and a nice script. A Modern Twist on a Cinderella Story, very refreshing and very solid. I just love the end when the camera gets farther and farther and you see that she is in a small office in a huge office building with many other large buildings around, so many stories, so many thiumphs, so many failures, it is just amazing. Melanie was amazing, beautiful, smart, sexy, humble, Sigourny was a snake, cunning and pompous, and Harrison doing his thing, charming, smart and sharp. I do miss this kind of movie.
Yes, the office building where the final scene was filmed no longer exists. It was the original 7 World Trade Center, located across the street from the Twin Towers, which collapsed at 5:00 p.m. on September 11, 2001, after burning all day following the unprecedented Manhattan attacks.
I watched this movie countless times when I was little. It wasn't till I was in sales for quite a few years and came across this movie again and I realised how much of a role model Tess was for me. I really dreamt of going to meetings, having negotiations with big guys and make deals... And it did come true for me as it did for Tess ❤
I love this movie. It's all about making it when you don't think you can ever make it. I grew up small and the idea of an office job was so out of sight. This gave me hope. Thank you.
i LOVE this clip & the WHOLE movie.❤ regular NYC Girl makes into the executive ranks!!! i ALWAYS wanted a SEQUEL. catch up with Jack & Tess a few yrs later.
I am french and I saw this movie french version... believe me or not the transcription is just as great as the original "move your ass out of my sun" was the french translation 😂😂😂
This movie was far better than it had any right to be. Melanie Griffith did so many things right, and overall the cast and direction elevated what could have been a pretty lame movie to one that I've always liked.
So happy for Tess and how Jack supported her and Katherine gets screwed when talking about how she came up with the idea that Tess had. She asks for Jack's help and he shakes his head and the way they delivered Bony Ass is priceless. Also notice how Katherine is wearing red which is power in the business world.
The true revelation in this movie was Melanie Griffith. Damn, she was a perfect fit for this role, and really, she never played another role as good as this one. Sigourney Weaver was good too, but she had been playing hard Ass bitchy roles and this was up her alley. Notice the creepy guy in the same frame as Sigourney, so typical of shady Wall St type guys. Melanie was so good that you couldn't help but cheer for her 👍👍
Good thing that the elevator that Tess, Jack & Trask didn't stop at any floor between the lobby and their floor before Katherine Parker got out of her elevator to disprove Tess's claim that her idea was stolen from Katherine.

This scene wuz funny wen Mrs Parker wuz tryna figga out wut 2 say 2 da bozz an then tried azkin Jack an he shook his head NO.....Mrs Parker cudnt believe dat Jack told her No...😂😂😂😂
Cant count how many times i saw this scene for sharing Tess’ revenge .. but NEVER GOT why Trask was so angry all of a sudden on Sigourney .. he got a great deal right ? What did she do wrong to be “booted” ? What is the “insinuation” she is talking about?
Melani came up with idea, Sigourney found Melani's notes ( if I remember well ), but anyway, it was Melani's idea, Sigourney stole it ( but without knowing why Melani came up with it ), presented it to Trask and then couldn't back it up
Because Katherine had stolen Tess' idea. Basically committed industrial espionage (stealing someone else's product and/or processes). Which meant he wasn't getting a great deal at all, because if it were found out that his firm had been a party to industrial espionage they would have been in LOTS of trouble and potentially lose millions. Not only that, because Katherine didn't come up with the idea she would not have been up to speed about the two companies being merged, which would have slowed the whole process down, which again would cost them lots of money and also ruin their professional credibility. That's why he's so angry with Katherine instead of just shrugging and saying "naughty girl, now let's sign those papers"
We don't know Katherine's backstory...maybe she had ideas stolen from her and that's the cut-throat environment she's used to working. Doesn't make it right, but still....and we do know she's hardworking. Having worked in a few toxic startup work cultures, Katherine is pretty benign compared to some bosses.
We don't know she's hardworking. We do know she's from money and connections. There's the fact that she's a woman and there must have been some amount of glass ceiling to break through. But do we know how she got there ? Not really.
Ms. Parker’s backstory is completely irrelevant to me. She stole an idea that wasn’t hers. She betrayed an employee who had trusted her. An employee, I might add, that played no role in anything from Ms. Parker’s past. I was pro Tess all the way, back then, when the film came out, and I am pro Tess now…35 years later. Karma bit Katharine Parker in her “bony a$$” and Tess McGill got her break and her own office. ❤
"Red society blue bloods," no, she is saying "Real society blue bloods." Interesting, isn't it, the mistakes in the captioning? "Red" uh huh. By the way, the captioning was burned in, I couldn't avoid it. Believe me, I try not to look at all the pathetic mistakes in cc.
In hindsight, this movie was supposed to be a feminist fairytale, but in fact,as this scene shows, extremely misogynistic. Add to this the unnecessary nude scenes from Melanie Griffith.
I absolutely love this scene... as Judge Judy says: "When you tell the truth you don't have to have a good memory"...
Exactly... like Trump in all depositions clamining the 5th or his "long time ago, don't remember" answears.. 😂😂 ..
When Jack shakes his head ❤
Sigorne is a terrific actress.... but she sure was a total bit*h in this movie.
Lol

Philip Bosco as Mr Trask ,a great character actor owned this scene even with this all star cast .
Pppppppp
A good character actor steals every scene they are in without even trying.
Working Girl is an ABSOLUTE 80's classic. EVERYONE in it was BRILLIANT!
Tess nailed it & got her revenge there. Great scene!

Katharine Parker sure was bossy with Oren Trask at the elevator and in these scenes. He did not like that. Ha Ha.
Don't always listen to people that say listen to me 🎤
Melani was hungover did y’all know that? I’m with with the brunette she was fabulous and very smart
Looking back; it’s a fun movie but a fairy tale.
Ah, if it were only so easy.
I’m not Ms. Parker… there’s so many things… and humans.

It's called being unethical.
Trask was no dummy. He saw right through her, and wouldn't tolerate a phony.

Kamala Harris, let me ask you a question. How did you come up with the idea of 'no taxes on tips'?
Kamala: Well, I.... copied it... from Trump
Harrison Ford has the best movies.
This is basic "case study" ad hoc approach.... In the movies anyways! I have never had this opportunity in real life :)

Another fairytale about meritocracy… please.
Movies are what they are because the majority of humans are simple-minded. This scene... an implausible 'gotcha'.
As Woody Allen once said in a different context, "If only real life were like this." 😆
In hindsight, this movie was supposed to be a feminist fairytale, but in fact,as this scene shows, extremely misogynistic. Add to this the unnecessary nude scenes from Melanie Griffith.
You're right. Also I don't think a male would get away with referring to a female's "bony ass" these days, if ever
nah I thought this was dance moms 😢
Melanie Griffith was in over her head, as she always was. Fortunately, they quit calling.
🤔
She was good in this thought. Can't recall seeing her in anything else
