Mine, too. I went to the movie to see Harrison Ford but left the theater in awe of the ensemble cast. With Working Girl and Something Wild, Melanie Griffith proved that she wasn't only Tippi Hedren's daughter. Brava!🎭
I liked the Carly Simon soundtrack. I found some old photos of myself from the 80s and yes, we did wear big glasses, frizzy permanents, garish makeup, and huge shoulder pads like in the movie. Melanie Griffith was so naturally pretty back then.
Beautiful indeed. Her hair in this movie is so consistently stunning. It's a shame she didn't go from this movie and make more around the same era, like Meg Ryan.
Ok so I’ve seen this movie a thousand times and I never thought of this as a Cinderella type story but a few days ago I was reading an old news article online about the movie “Maid in Manhattan” with Jennifer Lopez now that movie is definitely a Cinderella type story anyway Jennifer said that the movie was inspired by “Working Girl” and Harrison Ford said that when he did the movie he thought it was like the story and now that I think about it it really is based on the classic fairy tale we all know and love. I mean think about it the elements are already there, Melanie Griffith is Cinderella, Harrison Ford is Prince Charming, Sigourney Weaver is the Wicked Stepsister and Joan Cusack is the Fairy Godmother . But that’s just my opinion, what about y’all did it ever occur to you that “Working Girl” might possibly be based on the “Cinderella” fairy tale or do you think it’s just another classic 80s Romantic Comedy-Drama?
believe it or not, i watched this movie for the first time today. a lot of the scenes from the trailer didn't make it into the movie! now i wanna see a director's cut or something lol
Love this movie. Working girl wasn’t about prostitution. Why do they say working girl means that? Ignorant. She believed in herself and didn’t follow the crowd.
I'm with you. I am English and when I saw the title, I immediately thought of prostitution. Then I read the synopsis and realised it was about a woman trying to be taken seriously in her workplace.
We desperately need an extended cut released of this classic! I just NEED to see this scene ( 1:281:33 ) between Griffith and Cusack that has been scrubbed from the currently available cut! 20th century studios PLEASE answer for this!
They used a bunch of great music in this movie. Great story, fast paced, had its emotions, great direction, beautiful acting and more... Of course, the iconic opening credits scene is not to be forgotten. Just a beautiful film that you do not wanna miss! "You know, maybe I just don't like you." "Me? Nah!" *Oct 10, 2023*
I knew about this film but I had not seen it and I am a romantic and classic film buff today I saw this film and it is a beautiful gem of cinema great work by Mike Nichols with the great actors Harrison Ford Sigourney Weaver Joan Cusack Alec Baldwin but above all Melanie Griffith, what a beautiful woman, so full of love and courage to move forward, the music, the scenes, wow, unfortunately, and I say this truly, at the 1989 Oscars there were films that had guaranteed awards, but this gem doesn't need any awards to be one of the best. cinema movies 🎥
same! came here to say this! there are at least two scenes in this trailer that arent featured in the version I just watched on Hulu… who has answers?? 20th century fox needs to release a directors cut or something!
To this day I remember where I was when I first saw this movie. It will always be one of my favorites. I don’t know why. 80’s movies were so much better. It’s all gone now. Just trash. I miss the 80’s 😩
A whole bunch of really good movies came out in the late '80s and early '90s. This one, When Harry Met Sally, Sister Act, City Slickers, Field Of Dreams, etc. All much better than most of what's been released in the 30ish years since then.
Well, now none of you need to watch the movie, that was pretty much the whole story from start to finish... I guess trailers that reveal too much has been a thing since forever.
No one listen to this comment. The movie is absolutely amazing , don't miss it. Even if the trailer gives the whole movie it doesn't change how you feel while watching it. I saw the trailer as soon as the movie was starting cause i wanted to know if i wad gonna waste my time and you know what? Not only it didn't matter if the trailer showed it all (which it didnt) but im planning to watch this movie many more times. It gives you courage, confidence and a sense of class.....don't miss this amazing movie!!!
I am watching it now, and having a break to read the comments. It is not thrilling and a bit plod along, but I am enjoying the 80s hair, clothes and remembering how it was. Also no mobile phones or internet.
Obviously Censorship of 1980s is worth it , because Storm Front came out 3 years later. And Mike Nichols EXCELLENT director. LIKE John Hughes. And Ramis. ( r.i.p.)
if you are a working woman trying to get the career you want, WATCH THIS MOVIE with a few martinis. it's great, you'll thank me later. plus, GADDAMN, HARRISON FORD IS HOT. as always.

Just watched Desperado with Antonio Banderas now I'm watching this with Melanie. Nostalgia day. Anyway I just Googled Melanie Griffith and you know how they show pics. There's one she's standing with her daughter Dakota wearing some evening dress all opened chested, or breasted, exposing all down to her naval! Ugh, might as well just stand naked. And Melanie, well, I didn't even recognize her. She's got the whole atypical Hollywood plastic botox lipped ironed down hair plastic thing going on. 🙄 I guess there are some men who like all that but most I know love having something left to the imagination.
0:27 very funny! Even a bad character doesnt like harrasment, althought the guy was sexy. The people were much better(in values and behaviour) , prettier and healthier back on those days.
This movie is very inspiring. However very much a fairytale for most women. I was in the same shoes as her. Young, well educated and ambitious, but did not come from money or go to an elite school or university. There was never any room to move up the ladder in any of the companies I worked at. The managerial and senior positions were always filled by men who attended the same group of elite schools and universities, carrying the accompanying boy's club mentality. The women on the floor were never given any real consideration. Eventually I gave up.
That's what the movie wants to teach us, believe me, working in a big company and wanting to get promoted is very difficult but Tess didn't give up and to defend her idea she had to lie but she managed it and that tells us that we shouldn't give up. defeated we must fight to achieve our dreams I am just beginning step by step to achieve a goal keep fighting
Such a cool movie 60'$ hair up state New York ..quirky lil romantically dynamic business fun..finding a lil different places..melody griffin..sexy lady
The glorification of being desperate to work for greedy companies who damage the world and an ungrateful boss who would replace you at the click of a finger for far too many hours for crap wages that this movie portrays looks at a lot like corporate propaganda from a dodgy car salesman, this movie is cringe. You are worth more than that.
For some reason she just doesn't look right for the part. Sigurney Weaver looks tough and smart but Melanie... A pretty woman with kind eyes, but hardly a business woman...
One of my top 10 films. So simple and elegant story with great cast
what are the other 9?! inquiring minds wanna know!
Mine, too. I went to the movie to see Harrison Ford but left the theater in awe of the ensemble cast.
With Working Girl and Something Wild, Melanie Griffith proved that she wasn't only Tippi Hedren's daughter. Brava!🎭
One of best movies of the 80s!
The opening credits sequence of this film is iconic. Still gives me chills when I watch it. New York
"There isnt any room for any local girls like us." "I am not going to give up!" That inspires the hell out of me, even though im a guy.
go get em..........!!!!! they'll make room
4 likes in a year?
Give up.
I know right?
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS COMMENT! MADE MY DAY xoxoxox
Gender Empowerment...Breaks the Stereotypes and the Corrupt Monopoly System...Revolutionalize the Broken System for a cool change 🤘
The opening Scene credits of this film will always be the most iconic!!!
Dude, I just saw it the first time today on Hulu and thought the opening scene was remarkable.
"I got a head for business and a bod for sin." "Well I want both, so count me in."
One of the jewels of Maestro Nichols... Amazing movie!!!
ANOTHER TIMELESS CLASSIC! 80"S MOVIES RULE!! the dj
Forget about Rain Man, Working Girl is far and away the best film of 1988.
Philip Zamora never watched Rain Man but I will now. Thanks
agreed. even with all the bad 80's hair Working Girl wins hands down.
@@haintedhouse2990 I, for one, LOVE Melanie's hair in this movie! I know many women who actually miss the big hair of the '80s. I hope it comes back!
I wouldn't know about this movie if it weren't for Bob's Burger, Alriiight!!
just finished that episode and reached here

I was in my 20s and live in London. I never saw anything like the amount of hair here
Melanie was so beautiful! Even more so than her daughter. Iconic empowering movie of the 80s!
Beautiful indeed. Her hair in this movie is so consistently stunning. It's a shame she didn't go from this movie and make more around the same era, like Meg Ryan.
coincido!
Dakota looks just like her!
Her mother was stunning
She did not need any plastic surgery.

true it is a cinderella stoy, but no godmother, just the strong will of Tess.
Second act is similar to maid in Manhattan
That womans BIG HAIR THO BAHHAHAHA

Love this movie. Working girl wasn’t about prostitution. Why do they say working girl means that? Ignorant. She believed in herself and didn’t follow the crowd.
Because there's another movie called "Working Girls," which was released in 1986. That one is about prostitution.
😑
@@prathameshbhambureThanks for saying that instead of being mean like the first comment. 🙄😒😑.
I'm with you. I am English and when I saw the title, I immediately thought of prostitution. Then I read the synopsis and realised it was about a woman trying to be taken seriously in her workplace.
“Working girl” has been slang for prostitution for decades
One of the best movie of the 80's

I would like to see the scenes deleted. Before watching the trailer, I had never seen this scene when she said "spray me down".
Thanks! I just re-watched the movie and never saw that "spray me down" scene or the scene between Tess and Cyn before her wedding..

I don’t know why people say this was the whole movie in the trailer. 5 of the scenes in this trailer were not in the movie lol.
They really did some cutting between the trailer and the release.

I actually soiled my pants while watching this bull crap
This is such an awesome movie. I heard about it many times on internet but just watched it and I loved it.
The meaning of "Girl" in this film is same as "Good Girl" in Disney Anime film "Frozen".
They don't look like the queen Elsa singing "Let It Go".
Great comedy,interesting movie.
All time fave movie : cast, music, story line, the city
No remakes!
Part of what makes this movie great is the era in which it was made. It can't be remade.
If it won't be as good, what's the point?
They actually DID do a remake of this, but as a series. Let's just say, it didn't do well. lol.
This was sooooo good!
