Carly Booth My GF has a ragdoll. She weighs 24 pounds and is 3-1/2 feet long. I call her catzilla and she follows my GF everywhere. She will even go and sit/lay by the door about half an hour before my girl comes home from work. So yeah, I know what you mean about how loyal and dog like they are.
My British Shorthair just turned 1 yr, and I find that this breed really doesn't care to be picked up much, probably because of their massive size. But he's very clingy & follows me everywhere. He's sooo sweet and loves to play. I could not be happier with my choice, I just adore my big bear! 😽

I have had a Maine Coone all my life and I can say that one in particular, (Isacc) saved my life and was my best friend when I had no one. Now I'm all grown up and I just adopted an 8 week old Maine Coone kitten. I miss Isacc every day, but I can't wait to make new memories with my new friend Xena 💙😊
Have a 6 year old Maine coon called Dexter, sat on my lap as I type this. He is literally my best friend. Whilst dealing with depression he always cheered me up. Even sleeps on the pillow next to me at night (when the gf isn't in bed) and if I roll over he gets up and walks over me to sit on the other side so he can see my face 😂 Amazing cats ❤

I can't stand when people say a cat is "dog like." A cat isn't acting like a dog, it's an affectionate cat. Every single cat I've every had greeted me when I got home but that doesn't mean they were acting like dogs that just meant they were happy to see me. If a cat isn't antisocial that doesn't mean they are acting like a dog.

I only wanted one but the first one, Mephisto (colourpoint shorthair), was rearranging my shelves while I was away so it was recommended to get him a friend so he didn't destroy the house. So now I have 3 lol.
I accidentally have a flame point. I plucked her up for a stranger and made sure that she 100% wanted her. 18 hours after she picked her up she called with all kinds of false excuses. I already had a stray and said I couldn’t take her back. When she said, “I’ll just take her to the pound,” I bolted over there immediately. Sweetest thing ever. She was just shy and scared because she’d been born on my friend’s trailer park. She still isn’t socialized at all. I’m so protective. I could’ve sold her to a breeder for plenty but she was priceless from the second I saw her. Now I’m probably a little to protective. Lol. I need some things fixed in my condo…I have to add that I absolutely take her to the vet.
They can be, though it can still vary within the breed. Siberians seem to the most consistently hypoallergenic breed, but other breeds can also produce lower than usual levels of FelD1 (the protein in cat saliva/dander responsible for almost all human cat allergies). Your best bet is to find cat breeders in your area who claim their cats are hypoallergenic and ask to visit and interact with their cats. Make sure you interact with the adult cats related to your prospective kitten if possible - kittens produce lower levels of FelD1 than adults across the board. We tried a Balinese breeder near us (we had a mild but still noticeable reaction) and a Siberian breeder (no reaction - and 4 years on, two very loving cats and still no allergies!).
I was surprised about the American Bob tail too, but you know I heard this cool theory that Maine Coones are actually decendents of Norwegian Forest cats that came to America with the Vikings. If that were true that would be pretty cool!

One thing you glossed over is that Bengals are hybrid cats...very sociable and non-aggressive hybrid cats, but hybrids nonetheless. They are a cross between a Domestic Shorthair and the wild Asian Leopard Cat. Currently, I have a Russian Blue. Very sweet, smart and loyal cats... but not the best fit for all families. They are _highly_ sensitive to loud noises and changes in their environment, so they're weary around strangers and don't do well with rowdy households.
I recently lost my Persian. She was sweetest cat I ever had! She was a rescue cat that someone abandoned. Don't know how anyone could leave her like that. She was my little angel!
We have a rescued Maine Coon that we adopted from the local animal shelter in August 2018. She's a big, fluffy love bug who loves cuddles, chicken flavored treats, and serenading us at 2 a.m. We would not change it for the world.

My favorite breed of cat is the Siberian forest cat. The lineage for the one my family and I own originates in the area around Tomsk, Russia. He can be energetic at times but also laid back. He also likes to go outside and hunt and does well with cold climates as he has very long fur. He also is very regal and doesn't like to cuddle but prefers to stay farther away from social gatherings. Overall he is a great cat for my family and I!

I actually own a Ragdoll cat who my family saved from a cat hoarder house, he used to be dead scared of me (he was supposed to be my comfort cat) but as time went on he grew closer to me and is now extremely affectionate especially around our King Charles Cavalier Cocker Spaniel mix Molly, this Ragdoll we own is named Rudy, he’s named after a well known football player for the team Notre Dame! That player no longer exists on the team (I don’t even know if he’s still alive) but his name lives on in my Ragdoll cat Rudy! ☺️
I had my cat's DNA checked. She is Maine Coon, Siberian, Ragdoll, and Russian Blue. She has a little Himalayan, Norwegian Forest Cat, Egyptian Mau, and Savanah.
I had a Siamese cat named Susie who has since passed away. She was a joy to me. Fun, loving, smart and gentle. I still miss her after all these years. RIP Susie.
Our current fellow was a shelter cat. We have had him a few years and the only trouble we had is he almost ran away at Christmas the year we got him. (He was very nervous) but now he's part of the family.

Tabby is not a breed. It's a common misconception. Before I had my first cat, I thought Tabby was a breed as well. The word Tabby simply refers to coat pattern. So many breeds can have a "tabby" color or coat pattern. For instance, if you are in the U.S. then many domestic shorthairs (basically an American mutt cat) will have a tabby coat pattern. Maine Coons are the best. I heard that before we got one and thought it was just hyperbole but they ARE! Completely unlike any other cat breeds I have known, mega bright and affectionate, with incredibly big personalities and quirky habits. We now have two as well as a rescue moggy and whilst we will always have rescue cats, I can’t imagine life without a MC too.

As of yesterday, I became a 2nd time proud Siamese owner. He had to make a 8 hour trip to get to me, but it has definitely been worth it. He has adjusted well to living with me, including using his litterbox and eating. And claiming the pillows on my bed as his own. His personality is off the hook. Couldn't have asked for a better pet.

Rescue Main Coon and domestic short hair rescue tied for the win at my home. She's loyal, cuddly, so soft, fluffy, beautiful and very amusing. DSH is incredibly social, vocal, lap demanding and clearly appreciates having a home.
We were lucky enough to rescue a brother and sister who are part-MC kitties 16 years ago. The male passed away in Dec '19, but his sister is still with us and healthy. Great breed.

Where's the "Turkish-Angora"? They make exceptional pets and get along well with other animals. I had one and he was friends with 2 hamsters, another cat and every stray kitten we brought in and fostered, he always took right up to them. They also love water, which I didn't know until my little fluff of fur jumped in the shower one day with me and started playing in the water! Then I read about them and find out they really enjoy playing in water and batting the water coming down from a shower. If I closed the shower door and didn't let him in, he'd cry until I did! So every time I took a shower, my cat Timone was right in there with me every time! ROFL R.I.P little buddy, I miss you, your charm, love and snuggling up at bedtime. He was 18.5 years old, had to put him to sleep due to medical issues on March 13, 2013 at 13:30 hours{1:30pm}. Saddest day of my life.

I've had persians my whole life (I'm 46) and they're such amazing companions that I can't imagine not having one. I did also have a turkish angora and 2 maine coons at one point, they were all really cool cats too ... but the persians will always rule my heart.
My Bengal kitty is the best, she loves pats, sleeping, playing, and affection 🥺 she is also very social, and loves talking to other humans that aren’t her parents.
Best Cat Breeds (My Opinion): 1. Norwegian Forest Cat: Alright, I'll admit I never owned one before but they are so beautiful, they make both outdoor and indoor cats, love everyone, and are dog friendly. It's like as if they are a dog in a cats body. 2. Turkish Van: Another beautiful breed. Some Turkish Van's enjoy swimming and playing with water. 3. Abyssinian: They are so adorable, and energetic. 4. Bombay: I don't know much about Bombay', but I helped my friend train hers when it was a kitten, and I fell in love with the Bombay' loving and carefree personality. The cat also got along well with my dog, and wasn't scared of him. PS. The Birman is one of the more laidback cat breeds. Check your knowledge @watchmojo

One thing you glossed over is that Bengals are hybrid cats...very sociable and non-aggressive hybrid cats, but hybrids nonetheless. They are a cross between a Domestic Shorthair and the wild Asian Leopard Cat.
Currently, I have a Russian Blue. Very sweet, smart and loyal cats... but not the best fit for all families. They are _highly_ sensitive to loud noises and changes in their environment, so they're weary around strangers and don't do well with rowdy households.
I honestly expected Egyptian Maus to be on the list.

My favorite breed of cat is the Siberian forest cat. The lineage for the one my family and I own originates in the area around Tomsk, Russia. He can be energetic at times but also laid back. He also likes to go outside and hunt and does well with cold climates as he has very long fur. He also is very regal and doesn't like to cuddle but prefers to stay farther away from social gatherings. Overall he is a great cat for my family and I!
So glad you added the Ragdoll cat in this list! I actually own a Ragdoll cat who my family saved from a cat hoarder house, he used to be dead scared of me (he was supposed to be my comfort cat) but as time went on he grew closer to me and is now extremely affectionate especially around our King Charles Cavalier Cocker Spaniel mix Molly, this Ragdoll we own is named Rudy, he’s named after a well known football player for the team Notre Dame! That player no longer exists on the team (I don’t even know if he’s still alive) but his name lives on in my Ragdoll cat Rudy! ☺️

Tabby is not a breed. It's a common misconception. Before I had my first cat, I thought Tabby was a breed as well. The word Tabby simply refers to coat pattern. So many breeds can have a "tabby" color or coat pattern. For instance, if you are in the U.S. then many domestic shorthairs (basically an American mutt cat) will have a tabby coat pattern. Hope that helps.

Maine Coons are the best. I heard that before we got one and thought it was just hyperbole but they ARE! Completely unlike any other cat breeds I have known, mega bright and affectionate, with incredibly big personalities and quirky habits. We now have two as well as a rescue moggy and whilst we will always have rescue cats, I can’t imagine life without a MC too.

As of yesterday, I became a 2nd time proud Siamese owner. He had to make a 8 hour trip to get to me, but it has definitely been worth it. He has adjusted well to living with me, including using his litterbox and eating. And claiming the pillows on my bed as his own. His personality is off the hook. Couldn't have asked for a better pet.

Rescue Main Coon and domestic short hair rescue tied for the win at my home. She's loyal, cuddly, so soft, fluffy, beautiful and very amusing. DSH is incredibly social, vocal, lap demanding and clearly appreciates having a home.

We were lucky enough to rescue a brother and sister who are part-MC kitties 16 years ago. The male passed away in Dec '19, but his sister is still with us and healthy. Great breed.

Where's the "Turkish-Angora"? They make exceptional pets and get along well with other animals. I had one and he was friends with 2 hamsters, another cat and every stray kitten we brought in and fostered, he always took right up to them.
They also love water, which I didn't know until my little fluff of fur jumped in the shower one day with me and started playing in the water!
Then I read about them and find out they really enjoy playing in water and batting the water coming down from a shower.
If I closed the shower door and didn't let him in, he'd cry until I did! So every time I took a shower, my cat Timone was right in there with me every time! ROFL
R.I.P little buddy, I miss you, your charm, love and snuggling up at bedtime.

I've had persians my whole life (I'm 46) and they're such amazing companions that I can't imagine not having one. I did also have a turkish angora and 2 maine coons at one point, they were all really cool cats too ... but the persians will always rule my heart.

Best Cat Breeds (My Opinion):
1. Norwegian Forest Cat: Alright, I'll admit I never owned one before but they are so beautiful, they make both outdoor and indoor cats, love everyone, and are dog friendly. It's like as if they are a dog in a cats body.
2. Turkish Van: Another beautiful breed. Some Turkish Van's enjoy swimming and playing with water.
3. Abyssinian: They are so adorable, and energetic.
4. Bombay: I don't know much about Bombay', but I helped my friend train hers when it was a kitten, and I fell in love with the Bombay' loving and carefree personality. The cat also got along well with my dog, and wasn't scared of him.
PS. The Birman is one of the more laidback cat breeds. Check your knowledge @watchmojo
