  • In this video Captain Paul, Tyler and Blair save a 50ft sail boat from ending up on the rocks in the Maddalena Islands, Italy. The boys board the drifting sail boat and take it to safety, where they track down its owner. We then head to Cala Di Volpe for the night where we spot some of favorite Superyachts. We then make our way to Porto Chervo. Blair explains how water resistant DJI drones are and we head into port for our final night of charter. Captain Paul gives us our end of charter debrief where we find out how much our tip was and we start the journey down to Croatia. Sit back, relax and enjoy this weeks episode!

This video we’ve been waiting a few weeks to put up now. I know a lot of people think we should have claimed salvage or taken the cash offered but next time it could be us in need of a hand. Out on the ocean everyone helps everyone (or at least should). We’re just happy we were in the right place with the ability to help save what I’m sure is this family pride and joy (along with averting an environmental disaster)
Thanks for watching and we’ll see you next week 🛥️⛵️🥂🇮🇹

I confirm that they didn't even want the small reward I brought them! From the video it seems that I was naive but instead I have been going to sea for many years. Obviously it was an error of judgment on my part which, unfortunately, can happen even to the most experienced. But this is the way to go at sea. Thank you my guardian angels! But send me your address at least so I can have the pleasure of sending you a small gift!!

Thanks Paul, Tyler and Blair! The harbor was crowded and unfortunately 25 meters of chain on 5 meters of seabed were not enough! And I hadn't calculated the increase in the damn mistral! I was on land with friends and I struggled to recover the dinghy. And above all to turn it on! Luckily I saw my three guardian angels on board and I knew it was my lucky day! Thanks guys, great professionalism and friendliness. Please send me an address where I can send you a small gift! I've been following you all summer. Thanks again

Wow, I'm shocked that 5:1 scope wasn't enough in those conditions! I suppose with freeboard it's more like 4.5:1, but still, I figured that should hold in almost anything short of a gale. Hope the rest of the charter was alright! (or are you the owner?)

I've been loving your videos. Probably like a lot of your viewers, I identify more with the crew, and the working, technical aspects of your boat. As opposed to the 3-5% of folk who could charter her. Which is were the money is at, I understand the marketing aspect.
But, I've wondered about the bridge layout from the get go. Why are the bridge windows so low? And why is there a step up in front of the helm station, making the low windows even more a hindrance. I would think you'd want better natural visibility, as opposed to having to duck down to see. Everyone has to duck down to look forward. WTF? Not my field, I could be missing something obvious, so...? Please don't tell me, "just aesthetics...'.

Yeah, when you salvage a ship, you CAN demand a reward. And the amount is related to the NEW value of the ship, a certain percentage, depending on what help you offered. An owner CAN get a costly surprise. But yeah, most people are friendly, they would help you too, right?

Keep 20 liters of isopropyl alcohol all the time. When you mistake the drone for a submarine, retrive it from the water, remove the battery and in a plastic container submurge the drone in the alcohol making sure to move and twirl around to fill all cavities. Leave it in alcohol for 30 seconds. Remove from alcohol and rinse and shake as much of the alcohol away as possible. Place drone in a preheated oven set to lowest temperature. Leave the drone inside with the door open and keep the oven warm. Remove the drone every 5 minutes to ensure it doesn't overheat. Repeat until alcohol smell disappeared. Leave the drone in a warm area to dry for at least 24 hours. As for the battery clean it with alcohol and store it in a metal container away from flammable materials until you can discard it.

Nice touch the tip meeting at the end. Gives a much more realistic insight than you know which program, even though the guests are not in sight. I never believed that rich guests eat only on board during a charter. They must like to eat off-board and here you hear Paul mentioning it.
Maybe during the crossing, an overview can be given of numbers: how much gas Loon uses for its trip, what tasks are done as it probably differs from during the charter season and more.

As a retired former employee of Nautique Boat Company, I really enjoy seeing the occassional shots and mention of the boat for which I played a minor role in its development. But I can't resist a bit of a chuckle when I hear Captain Paul refer to it a a "Super Ski Nautique". My former Nautique marketing associates would be cringing at hearing this as they've devoted so much time and effort into the branding of the "Super Air Nautique" wakeboard and wake surf product lane. There is a "Ski Nautique" (without the Super), but that's strictly a competition ski boat, not appropriate to wakeboarding and wake surfing.

Personally I don’t think that guy was all that grateful, he came off as combative at first which is understandable, he saw he was outnumbered so didn’t push it. He didn’t seem to understand English at all so I don’t think he was ever aware of what was going on, he just saw some guys on his boat and was trying to get it back. His comment here seems like it was translated and written by someone else as he didn’t seem to know that much English during the encounter. Good job doing the right thing and saving that boat at the end of the day it’s about brothers helping brothers and doing the right thing.

Hmm...I think I have to side with Blair on the drone/life jacket issue. He was, technically, on the clock and working to help make the guest's experience the best that it could be. Engaging in such a dedicated focus on perfection, surely he can't be held responsible for a sailboat captain blundering through the drone's airspace and thus interfering with the job of making the guests happy?
    Okay, it's a bit of a stretch, I know 😊

One thing I have always wondered with these Superyachts, how often do you have to scrape the bottom of the boat to get all the growth of? or does the yacht have a special coating or system to reduce it?

Yeah but if person doesnt know how to anchor maybe they should be on the shore line. Maybe it will save their life.

Some one should do in depth vlog on how to anchor a sail boat or other boats. Also how to get a sail boat off a shore if you loose anchor. 2 things some sailors have no clue about.

Love the channel. I’ve been Marlin Fishing in the GBR off of Cairns AUS and Lizard Island since 1985 and we always have had a Mothership. Fortunately cell phones with cameras didn’t exist for several trips because, what happens of the reef stays on the reef. Always great crew and 1st class experience. Cheers 🥂

Another Great video! You are so Professional and Safety conscious, BUT...I was surprised when in the inflatable you did not have the "kill" switch cord attached to you. I have seen a couple of instances where people fall off their boats/tenders/Sea Doo's and the kill switch was not attached and off goes the boat....

I've had my share of "rescues" on boats that are heading for some love on the rocks. Ya never know what you're getting into going aboard an empty yacht. What struck me is that he refused the offer to receive help in getting the boat anchored back in place. Which, is a head shaker because single handling a 50' sail yacht is almost not doable and it's even more difficult in a shallow-water anchorage. It sure was a very clean half-million dollar sailboat though.

    Nice rescue(s)

So glad you secured the sailing yacht, I was quite worried about it! I know Loon is fab but that boat was so pretty for off shore sailing/cruising and was at serious risk. Does anyone double anchor out there, or am I just an over-worrier? We dropped a second anchor off the stern years ago, with care. But I've seen some smaller luxury yachts drag their anchor & inexplicably drop it again a patently unsuitable seabed, only for it to drag again😂. Two guesses. Nice to see it done properly! And you showed your spirit of seamanship brilliantly.🙂⛵ 🍕🍻

I love to see a class act! Most people never see the true maritime community in action, you help NO MATTER what happens and never take anything for it.The crew makes the yacht, MY Loon rocks ( probably not. too many stabilizers, lol)

What a blessing they rescued your boat. But how did you lose both sailboat and the dinghy? Somethings just not right. you were definitely having a bad day. You were so lucky they decided to save your boat for you, almost look like a charter.
