So beautiful there! We, my wife and I, my boss and his wife just finished sailing the Aeolian Islands on a Oceanis 45, much smaller but beautiful sailboat, we had the most amazing time and so looking forward to it again 🤙🏾⛵️
Absolutely we will! John and I be doing a full tour for you guys 🙌🙌 Inside and out! I’ll get John to explain all the technicalities around performance and gadgets, and I’ll go through the design and my fav features (there’s a few!)🤍⛵️❤️
Another fantastic video. Boat looks amazing, 5 meter deck is near as wide as a cat (~7m). Would be great to see a video of the performance at all angles and all sail plans. And let's see how she handles beating up wind in 40 knots! Please be careful going up the mast! Best to use an extra safety line, wouldn't trust just one line, as you know stuff breaks all the time, even the new stuff breaks or is assembled wrong.
Thanks so much! We have done quite a bit of sailing on her now, so have got a good feel for how she handles and will share it all in a boat tour soon! So far we’ve seen 9.5kts (towing the dinghy 😮💨) in about 20kts of breeze. She goes very well upwind too! We did have her in 40kts at one point, upwind, but we didn’t have much sail out at all by that point haha. Super comfy and dry under the hard top even in 40kts!
Ohh and yes John mentioned this about the halyard, we were a bit naughty as we were in a rush to get going and only going a short way up the mast but in hindsight we should have had a safety line for sure 😉
What a great group of people on an absolutely beautiful yacht! Having grown up on boats (my dad's best friend was one of Sydney's permier master boat builders) and I absolutely love this superb craft! Bon voyage guys!
Oh WOW Aussies in Spain, how bloody Awesome is the Boat, floating mansion!!!!! I'm So jealous I didn't get picked, I even had my bags packed. Thanks SW!! So kind of you to say ☺️ she’s such a nice boat we really are enjoying sailing her. Price is just over $1M I believe but changes all the time depending on currency, location, options etc, supply issues and inflation have kept the prices heading up. This one has a lot of amazing gear on her!
It truely is a masterpiece… it’s going to be HARD to give the keys back!!!! 😞😞 Perhaps we can make a wrong turn and sail it all the way to Sandringham!! 👀😂🤓
Hey, just been on your yacht in Genoa at the boat show! Awesome to see it in person. Looking forward to seeing where you go next. If you need extra crew while you're in Italy , get in touch 😉
Nice, what did you think of her?! Thanks for the offer to crew ; ) we are all sorted for this trip but are going to try and get more of our viewers and patreons onboard in upcoming adventures if we can so stay tuned 😉
Love the look and performance of this sailing beauty. Glad you and it did well in the storms...What a beautiful part of the world.. I don't know how long I have left with the cancer but where you ended up today would be a bucket list last wish place to experience.. Any ideas?
Hi Bill! Thank you so much for watching us go through the motions of picking up the keys and making it through the storms! My gosh, that strike got close!!!! ⚡️ Mallorca is truely beautiful, Palma is my favourite city on the island I think.. but it’s also built up! So it depends if you like tranquility and small towns, or cute alleyways and restaurants with stunning architecture! I hope you’re feeling okay. Hang in there, we’re sending you healing and love! ❤️
Thanks Mark!! It’s going to be a big trip, John and I are going looking forward to taking you guys along as we sail (and eat) our way around Europe over the next few months! 😝
Thanks for the nice message! Lots of love goes into these videos so I’m glad to hear that. And yes the Jeanneau 55 is beautiful isn’t she, I think she’s going to be a real game changer!
Hey Rob! It’s got a big sliding window at the front of the canopy, which is great for airflow. The canvas cover also zips off at the front so you can have get protection overhead from sun but still have forward visibility while sailing or on anchor if you’d like airflow. We went to the Cannes boatshow a couple days ago and noticed the JY55 on display there had a regular canopy/Dodger, so that’s an option also over the hard top👌🏻
Thanks Vince!! We’re really excited for this one, so much to see and explore in the western med and very lucky to be trusted with hull #1 thanks so much for the comment : )
Love, love your videos! Would love to hear you guys compare your experience and share opinion of pros and cons of each yacht you've been on Lagoon catamaran vs Jeanneau monohull, as they're so different.
Yay! Finally a proper sailing adventure for you guys! And what a gorgeous boat! Yeah, the Balearics have something like the most lightning touch downs in the Med... At least the year I was n Ibiza and we did get hit by lightning. Cannot wait for your next episode!! Show us more of the boat please!
Thanks HB! Yessss!!! We’re so excited to be off exploring and going further afield. Extremely lucky to be able to do it on the new JY55 also! Wow didn’t know that about the lightening in the Balearics, that must have been pretty scary for you guys!!! 😳
She sure does, she sails so well too so much fun. We will do a full in depth boat tour once we get some miles under the keel in a couple of weeks time, let us know if you have any questions and we’ll try and cover it : )
Hey Bill John here, I spoke to the Jeanneau team about this and they said they are offering that as an option shortly, the spare head can convert to a laundry/drying room also 😎
@@KristinasTravels & so glad to see a solid dodger finally , Suggested this to Jeno for years , Looks amazing , Hope you give us some sailing figures , Speed Etc. You lucky buggers = ENJOY .
The 55 is on a short list for our next boat. Will be inspecting it at Annapolis in several weeks. Looking at the videos, I have been concerned that the aft cabins are tight with small heads. Can you comment on these? Also... do the cabins feel claustrophobic with gull wing hatches closed? How do open hatches affect cockpit flow?
Hello there! Wow, how exciting, boat shopping is so much fun, great to hear you are considering the 55! The rear cabins probably look smaller in our videos from the top of the companionway then what they actually are, they are actually fairly spacious, particularly the port cabin, which has its own seating/living space and bar fridge, we found the seperate living spaces were perfect for those times where everyone was wanting to relax and have alone time or get some work done at the end of the day. The heads were also decent in size, but not as big as the massive owners head of course which is next level! The space over the beds is a little lower then we had on our Jeanneau Sun odyssey 50DS (deck saloon) but the trade off is a massive walk around, single level deck which is a total game changer in our opinion and worth the trade off. You’ll see what I mean when you see it. As for airflow we found that in the rear cabins it was best to keep the door open to the head on anchor so you’d get extra airflow from that port light in the head, there is also rear and side hatches so airflow was ok if needed the gull wing doors could be opened, failing that there was always aircon haha. Airflow in the main cabin and saloon was exceptional. If you’re going to Annapolis, we can put you in touch with our friend who has spent 7 weeks with us living in that cabin and will be helping out on the jeanneau stand at Annapolis, maybe she can give you a tour and share her experiences if you would like? Drop us an email at hello@kristinastravels.com.au and we can put you in touch, happy to answer any other questions you have in the meantime. Wish we were coming to the show this year! It was so much fun last year, you’ll have a blast! Cheers - John
Another such a great vlog! The edition and your explanations are 🔝 I can’t believe that your new adventure starts in my country! ✨✨ Greetings from Spain
Hi Kristina, You're awesome at storytelling. Considering your occupation before you started sailing, it isn't surprising. Really good. Looking forward for more videos from the med. I would like to suggest you to sail in the European waterways. Hi MrWitheridge! Ohh that’s very cool, a great excuse to visit Barcelona also! 😝 Hahaha I’ll tell John she said that he’d be pleased to hear it as I’m always telling him it needs to go 😉😝 We’re finding the JY55 is a great compromise from the Cats we’ve sailed recently, we’ve really enjoyed the spacious deck area and the seperate living area, but she is also great fun to sail and goes very well upwind. I think we topped out at 9.5kts so far (towing the dinghy-whoops!)
Yeah that’s it exactly, with seperate living areas etc it certainly felt more like a cat in that regard! A few people have asked for a walkthrough/tour so will move it up on the schedule😉 thanks Sean! : )
Would love to see some video discussing the logistics that went into getting you from the Bahamas to Majorca. I can imagine the negotiations with Jeanneau were intricate and time consuming.
Ohhh yes the travel was a bit of a nightmare we were zombies most of the time and John returned home to work for a few weeks! Everything pretty straightforward with Jeanneau actually! Mostly just had to figure out logistics of it all! They’re great 😃
Okay so apart from doing Jeanneau's marketing you need to get sorted w/ the Spanish Tourism Board. And the bunny pad is a great landing spot for the drone.
Haha!!! That’s so kind of you to say. John is great on the controls isn’t he 🙂 Gosh, I wish we had some contacts for the tourism boards, we try to find the best little spots to share with you guys 😍🙌 This bay is a little gem!
I totally hear you!!!! It’s all class. Are you based in the USA? It’s going to be on show at the Annapolis Boat Show if you’re going for a peak! 🙂 and I believe Australia is getting its first J55 next year! ❤️
Did you receive my request for a testimonial on my new Live-aboard book I emailed You with the transcripts? If not let me know where to send it to you. Thanks Rene
Would be nice to understand how much the boat was, and for how long is the loan and what you got to do to keep having it for free? Most of us mere mortal could use some motivation.
Gorgeous boat! Looks amazing! Beautiful video as ever! Really looking forward to the rest of your adventures, it's a bit of a shame you don't have the boat for longer and are able to explore the med a bit more thorougly!
Thanks Tom! It’s such a nice boat, we’re so lucky to be able to be the first to cruise on this new model, we’ve got her for almost two months but yes would be nice to have her for a couple years more 😝
Kristina and John "WOW"!! that's a Lovely Sail boat. And again you are in a land of Paradise and ancient exotic history. Oh and did you say PIGS again? Remembering back Kristina you don't have any luck with PIGS so be careful lol. Looking forward to more video's of this trip, but it will have to wait a couple week until our return from the Balkans. Safe sailing looking forward to more of the MED!!!!
Hi JS! Yes! Such a beauty! We’re veryyy lucky to be able to sail her and call her home for a couple of months as we explore the med ☺️ Haha yes not wrong about the pigs 😂 Enjoy the Balkans and thanks for your nice comment ☺️
Yes, easily, it has 4x electric (rewinding) winches that can be controlled from across the cockpit plus bow and stern thrusters, electric furler on the Genoa etc so probably easier to single hand then most boats even in the 30-40ft range I would say.
Ooooohhhh😏 video is too short, I was expecting a long one so fast so short,.. But I like it a lot, imagine as you arrive and the next day you use a brand new boat which directly came from the factory which has not been used, did you feel that? It's like you bought a brand new boat and use it for trial for the very first time, 😱 that's exciting because it's just like preparing for another adventure sail, sometimes I like preparations it felt like I was there❤😊
Sorry it was short! We’ve got so much to edit so there will be no shortage of videos coming up! 😉 yes she had the new car/boat smell, everything crisp and new, so lucky to experience that! 😀
Hey Kristina, ive been watching ur videos for a while now and have always been wondering whether you'll go to the Spanish islands of Mallorca and Menorca. Cant wait to see the coming episodes :)
Hey guys can you change the tone of your notification bell, everything our dog hears it he thinks it’s the door bell, barks his guts out and wakes the kid. Lol
😂😂 sorry Corey for waking the kids, did you at least get them up to watch the episode? 😝 sorry for the tone, we don’t have any control over the tone, might just have to buy a new doorbell 😂😜
Hmmm, G'day Kristina and John. Excuse me, I'm getting on a bit and maybe I'm like brandon and my brain is addled. Have you ever said why you prefer mono's over cats?❤❤❤❤
Hey Wallywombat! There’s no short answer to that one!!! But we like both, they are both amazing for what they are, we love the feel of sailing a monohull and the JY55 has living accomodation that is more like a catamaran so we found it to be an amazing compromise between the two. Let us know what you think!

Also... do the cabins feel claustrophobic with gull wing hatches closed?

Hi there!! We’re borrowing this one from Jeanneau for a couple of months, unfortunately we will have to give her back 😉
So blessed, looks like an awesome, functional design. Sort of a hybrid between a catamaran and a mono hull.
Looking forward to the walk through
Yeah that’s it exactly, with seperate living areas etc it certainly felt more like a cat in that regard! A few people have asked for a walkthrough/tour so will move it up on the schedule😉 thanks Sean! : )
Cheers guys!
Cheers Trev!!
Boy, you guys are really living life to the max, enjoy it while you are young and healthy :-)
Thanks Pmacgowan! ☺️
Im a cat boy but that aft area looks huge and modest heeling. Given the better VMG compared to cats, this might be my boat! 🎉
I totally hear you!!!! It’s all class. Are you based in the USA? It’s going to be on show at the Annapolis Boat Show if you’re going for a peak! 🙂 and I believe Australia is getting its first J55 next year! ❤️
@@KristinasTravels I'm in the land down under ... hopefully there's J55 coming to Brissy 😎👍✌
Thanks Tom! It’s such a nice boat, we’re so lucky to be able to be the first to cruise on this new model, we’ve got her for almost two months but yes would be nice to have her for a couple years more 😝
❤❤🥰🥰
☺️
❤️
You live a charmed life. Good on you.
We sure do, very blessed : ) couldn’t do it without you guys watching our episodes so thankyou ☺️
Sympa et plus encore... Pourquoi ces moments saccadés ? Pour être « à la mode », nous ne pouvons rien voir du bateau... Tant pis.
Excelllent epi
Thankyou ☺️
Beautiful boat, great tour around the Mediterranean looking forward to the next videos. Will you guys meet up with Jason and Janaye along the route?
Ohhh thanks very much! We will miss them this time unfortunately, but we did try! The episodes are a little behind.. next time!
looks epic
Such a nice boat! Pinching ourselves 😍
PS I don't like heights either - you're very brave!
We’re veryyy lucky to be able to sail her and call her home for a couple of months as we explore the med ☺️
Haha yes not wrong about the pigs 😂
Enjoy the Balkans and thanks for your nice comment ☺️
Could one person sail that boat ?
Yes, easily, it has 4x electric (rewinding) winches that can be controlled from across the cockpit plus bow and stern thrusters, electric furler on the Genoa etc so probably easier to single hand then most boats even in the 30-40ft range I would say.
hey love your videos so much fun to watch where do you get your music from?
Hey ya!! We get it from Epidemic Sounds 🙂 Let me know if you want a referral discount code 🙌🥰
@@KristinasTravels aww thank you I use them already might have to check out some of the other playlists from there :)
Ahhh yes it’s tricky hey, we burn through the tracks pretty fast and always on the lookout for others 😮💨
Money no object - which sailboat would you buy?
Jeff Bezos’ yacht!!!! 🤭🤓 We have a surprise in a couple of episodes time… lol 😆
Hi guys just love what your doing….are you coming to Montenegro, tivat or kotor….it’s a must
Hey Chris!! Not on this trip unfortunately but it’s on our radar for sure, such an a pretty place!
Looking forward to seeing Kristina go to the top of a mast one day! 😂
I think only an emergency will get me to the top... LOL!!!
Hi, may I ask you how much it costs to insure your nice boat ? thanks
Ho but you are renting it if I understand well
Just subscribed from Antigua Guatemala, OsoYolo. Let's see what you got.
Thank you so much! The pressure is on haha! 🤓🙌⛵️
That boat is the shit !
Thank's 4 sharin...
❤
Is this another copy of la vagabonde ?
Hey Kristina, ive been watching ur videos for a while now and have always been wondering whether you'll go to the Spanish islands of Mallorca and Menorca. Cant wait to see the coming episodes :)
Thanks so much for watching ☺️ we’re so excited to explore the islands, it’s been on our list for quite a while so lucky to finally be here!
Sóller ( sojer)
Y'all kinda young...how'd you afford that boat ?! Nice
Hey Kasper! We have to give this one back unfortunately in a couple of months time 😉 wish it was ours!
@@KristinasTravels aw hell 😫👍🏾
I know right! We will get there one day 😝
Ooooohhhh video is too sjort
Hey guys can you change the tone of your notification bell, everything our dog hears it he thinks it’s the door bell, barks his guts out and wakes the kid. Lol
😂😂 sorry Corey for waking the kids, did you at least get them up to watch the episode? 😝 sorry for the tone, we don’t have any control over the tone, might just have to buy a new doorbell 😂😜
@@KristinasTravels think I’d be better off getting a new kid 😂
😝😝😝😝
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
🙌🏻🙌🏻
🎾🎾
Guys... you are quite behind with your videos :) it is October already! :D
😅😬 Im editing full time, unfortunately it’s just myself and these episodes take 40-50 hours to put together. But will get there 😆🫠
Cashews and lettuce for dinner not a lot of food.
Huge plates though! Haha
