- A beloved bakery on the Upper West Side is closing its doors for good. The small family-owned shop brought big love to the community for three decades. As CBS2's Dave Carlin reports, it managed to pull through the pandemic, but now it's the end of the line.
This is really sad - I'm sorry she has to close.
Lots of empty stores for lease in iNYC in fact I’ve seen entire blocks almost empty the rents are insane and they won’t go down on price
Rising rents and cost of supplies are shuttering many small businesses in the city. What fills the spaces if at all, are chain stores. It's beginning to look like suburbia on the skids only with higher rents and high crime.
I wish her all the best. I hope she does return. I never got a chance to go there. I honestly didn’t even know about it, but now I honestly would love to try it.
How sad she seems like such a sweet humble lady …
Overall NYC lawmakers don’t care. Half of the businesses are closed and the rents private and commercial are going through the roof.
The only people that will be able to do business will be those who are running a franchise. The only people who will live here will be the very rich. Then when they can’t find workers willing to travel they will wonder why.
It will be rich people and homeless everywhere
I did not know about the place, this is my first time hearing about it. I'm sad it's gone now because I would have liked to try it.
Nyc and the upper west side are under siege. No love for the locals who are the lifeblood of the neighborhood, just catering to folks who see it as one big investment smh
At least Wal Mart, Amazon and Target will thrive - I’m sure our citizens will be happy to hear that
Margot is beautiful God blessed her.
......May God go with her.
This bakery has shut down for good. It has multiple bad reviews on google & yelp. The disturbing part is that the reviews directly complaint about the owner. Any business that was struggling before the Covid-pandemic, will most likely shut down eventually after it, specially in a area like NYC. This place is a classic example of that.
Kick em while they’re down. Nice.
Goodnight NYC best wishes GOD BLESS HER....nyc is done so sad!
so sorry I hope everything works out
Don't take it personal it's just business sad to say ...Anyway, I wish her the best of luck and God bless her ..
Unfortunately, there's gonna be many more to come in that area.
Landlords want all the money and none of the work.
Rent reduction for small business storefronts is needed. Landlords would rather have empty storefronts instead of renting at lower rates that the "new normal" market will bear. Overcharging in rents and warehousing empty storefronts is making NYC look bad for no reason. They only want "market rates" when the rates are obscenely high. Guess what, that's not how markets work.
Not only the upper west side is also over nyc
@@Frankieefootballmundial Absolutely! Enough is enough. Isn't it our city too? The mayor needs to stand up to real estate industry. I think we need Mayor LaGuardia again!! (😊 NYC history is awesome, lol. 🌆)
@@girlfromthebronxbywayofelb7288 well they denied restaraunts $50 billion but approved $40 billion for ukraine !!! HAHAHA I LOVE ELECTED OFFICIALS!!! THEY CARE MORE FOR OTHER PEOPLE THAN THEIR OWN!!!
Margot will be going Maga in '24😂🤣😂
Real sad 😢
Good morning
These places should of never been shut down for the SCAMDEMIC!
This was the only reason for the pandemic. To hurt smart business. The rich and powerful actions are cruel and calculated.
The Cares Act (the covid bill) oversaw the largest (6+ trillion dollars) upward transfer of wealth in human history. We live in a rapacious oligarchy, not a democracy.
All by design 🤨🤨🤨
Overhead for these buisnesses are lol
So sad, another one of our gems is lost to greedy landlords. This space will sit empty for 10 years and then become a ? Tarot Card reader?
I wish people would just ignore that and take back this land and decide to just die on that hill. I would love to see that on the news with crying NYPD widows
That space is going to remain vacant for quite some time because the landlord prefers to keep it empty than to rent it for any less than what they’re asking for. It’s the same story across the city, empty storefronts. They’ll wait until some big chain store comes along.
Yup. It’ll eventually become a Duane Reade or Wells Fargo 😔
@@ellemarr7234 it already dude Reade in near bowling Green Manhattan
It's really sad that a store that was struggling to survive during pandemic forced to close doors when things are starting to get better
Things might be getting better but they are not even close to being the same. There has been a permanent damage on the NYC foot traffic.
it's going to turn into like a Chase ATM I bet. I swear landlords have no heart. just let the lady have her shop, itll keep the neighborhood culture alive.
Welcome to Capitalism. People with enough money to last 100 lifetimes throwing people out on the street.
What business can afford rent in nyc ?
The Yelp reviews do not say nice things about Miss Margot. Sorry I never was able to experience this place.
There is never enough soy for Yelp patrons..
No words........... SMH
Sorry gotta make room for a hipster joint who serves $130 plates 😣
You will own nothing and be happy
It was not beloved then.
It’s not the out of control black violence, inflation, high gas prices, it’s that damn scaffolding.
Why don’t she just rent another place ?
These goddam rents are too much, jesus christ
move to Florida, you will be a success!!
Ahh...Florida, where the entire building will collapse on top of you due to lax building codes and insufficient inspectors. No real estate corruption there...
Rents are through the roof in Floriduh.
sad news!!!!! I was a nice store!!!! Y wish the. Best for them ,in the future!!!! We gonna miss you guys!!!!
Im sorry to hear about this. I wish the owners well going forward
