Emily is proof that in the context of the world in the skit, there are level-headed people who can see through Claire and call her out, so the idea that Claire's behavior got to a point that her friends and family cut her out of their lives isn't that far-fetched. You don't act like that with your 'besty' and it not be an indication of personality issues that seep into the rest of your life.

Step 4. Use Mikey’s inability to say “No” to her.
Step 5. Wait for Emily to snap.
Step 6. Wait for Mikey to come crawling back to her because Mikey listens to his heart, not his head.
Stop trying to dissect everything and just enjoy what is obviously funny

This is actually not bad writing and acting. Also, it's a bit of a caricature, but it's also pretty accurate description of a narcissistic person and their co-dependent. She wants just attention, friendzones the guy who is clearly interested in her, gives him just enough hope for him to stick around, then when he gets into a relationship tries to manipulate him to dump his girlfriend and if that happens, she "happens to" get into relationship with someone else just after. And it's back to the old game.
