In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Where did you find the black cap that you use to hide the hole in the floor? Do you have a part# or name?

Climbing into that rear hatch to grab the transducer brings back a lot of memories. Now, I'm just too fat. My snake of choice is the hard steel snake used by electricians for snaking conduit. It rolled back up into it's own carrying case and I can always cut small lengths of the snake when I needed multiple ones for doing a boat. Worst thing to snake was always aluminum tubing used for hard or canvas tops. The holes inside the piping was usually not large enough to pull connectors thru, so I had to cut the connector off to get the wiring thru and re-solder the connector back on. Butt connecting was a big no no when doing this for radar and gps. The quick connects going from unit to unit just came out as I left the industry in 2004.

It's always a battle running wires and climbing into bilges, etc. I am lucky most of the boats are bigger and have easy access to components. They can be a pain when they are smaller. Thanks for watching. I do appreciate it and the comments ☺️

Have you had any GSD 25s go bad? I recently replaced 2 and ended up having to upgrade to a 26 on a Valhalla they were running to 8617s

I have replaced a few of the 25s. They have had some issues with some of their components. The VHF 315 is another failure on Garmin's part. The boat in the video already has a 26 so we are adding the 25 so he can choose what he wants to use. 😊

Ever install dual gt-51 transducers for finer detail? Trying to decide if that is a good set up

I honestly have not seen two put on at the same time. I understand why you would want a better port and starboard view. Let me know if you do it and if it works any better😃

Great job. I’m sure that was real easy, one handed, juggling a camera in a 120 degree F bilge.

I just had Quality Boats of Sarasota install a GT56UHD transducer on my Pursuit DC 326. Why choose the GT51?

I wish I could answer that for you. It was the customers choice and I didn't get to talk to him. Sorry and thanks for watching.

GT51 is for offshore especially if you’re doing deep drops or sword fishing from what I hear.I believe the 51 has a max depth of up to 2000’. GT56 better for 200’ or shallower

Gt51 is better at depth. It has a range of 1800’ depth. I use a gt56 and a gt51 on my boat. The 56 is better in shallower water but the 51 shines at depth.

You need a young-skinny helper to keep jumping down in them shitty spots. He can also go fetch your drill for you so you don’t have to drill holes with an impact gun😆
