    One of the coolest karambits I've seen. I'd really like to get one.
    Now, about the wave feature and how to grab it, that you mentioned at around 2:30. The ideal way for waving karambits is to switch the clip to the other side, as for lefties, but you still use it on your right pocket, ring up. Instead of waving it back, as a straight knife, you wave it forward, to catch the front part of your pocket.
    This way, you put your index on the ring, wave it forward, and you end up with a very secure karambit grip, no need to reposition your hand.

    Hey man I have a trick for deploying wave karambits without having to reposition your grip so that you're already in the reverse grip. So, I'm going to try and explain this as good as possible.. if you are right handed, change the pocket clip to the left handed carry side but still keeping it in your right pocket, then once you've done that and you go to put it in your pocket ,the curve of the handle should be curving toward the front of your body, basically it will be sitting in your pocket backwards from what you're normally used to and instead of pulling towards the rear of your pocket, you're going to pull toward the front and because the knife is backwards ,you will already be grabbing it in the reverse grip, it's 2 times faster when deploying. I learned this because I'm left handed and I had to use alot of karambits that weren't milled out to switch the pocket clip to the other side so in my case I had to keep the clip on the right handed carry side but I put it in my left pocket. It works, give it a try and if I explained this in such a way where it's hard to understandI apologize ,it's kind of hard to express but much easier to show in person or with a video.

    I love your reviews but bro no disrespect, you have no idea how to use a karambit. When it deploys from the pocket you're holding it upside down. It's setup for left hand deployment, switch the clip to the other side and you'll like it more.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  2 года назад

      No I'm right handed not left handed so I won't like it more, and that has nothing to do with using a Karambit that's just carrying left handed

    MagnaCut is the best blade steel on the market at the moment. But I don’t understand this knife at all. Rather have a fixed blade dagger for self defense. None of that goofy swinging and useless techniques that are necessary when using karambit come with a dagger. With a dagger its stab stab stab. That’s it. None of that goofyness like what you did with the bit with the t shirt. Get real and stop falling for gimmicks. Dagger and a gun are the only two things you should trust your life with. Not a karambit and goofy moves. Plus a dagger allows you to keep a little more distance and allows you to inflict more damage at the same distance.

    TBH, it DOES have the ''sportscar coolness'' factor, but TO A KNIFE FIGHT, where you only get one shot at staying alive, and seconds to draw first blood ,,,, I would sooner carry my new Samson, .... or one of my high end tactical quality Spydercos, one has a nice rough handle which is still grippy when 'wet', but I am open minded open to hear any counters to my opinions also, I will say this LIONSTEEL IS quality, and I have had good past experiences with aluminum, and I would like to see more 'fighting knives/exotic knives' Neeves reviews !

    There are 3 people qualified to use a karambit, two of them are Doug Marcaida clearly from this video Jared isn't number 3, lol. Tbh I hated the Karambit fad. It's a highly specialized tool requiring a lot of training. Just get a Yojimbo... if you're a Pentjak Silat Master disregard what I said and get one of these. Knife fighting has somesimple rules:
    1. Don't.
    2. Carry a gun.
    3. The loser of a knife fight dies on the floor, the winner usually dies in the ambulance...
    Final thoughts; a stupid knife for stupid people. (Unless you're Doug of course).

    I love this knife,; it's so out of left.field for LionSteel. Love.the flipper, hole and wave deployment, ruthless and awesome shape for a karambit; love the integral frame, color choices, coated blade options, and the substantial retention ring. And of all blades to run in Magnacut, this is just the most badass and unexpected option. The price is solid, blade size is generous for a karambit. I am so drawn to it, but I know LionSteel's track record for HRC and heat treats. I don't want to spend much more on Magnqcut outside of ideal parameters. I totally missed the ball on the RSK Magnacut Sprint Run, and they specifically shot for 63+. In this application, it is not as much of a bummer, but an XHP, S35VN, 154CM, good D2,.S90V blade, which I have karambits in, could just as well have been used. It's more in line with an s35vn blade when run at 59-60. I love the design, but you can only afford so many, and I definitely would love to see a good size tactical blade in optimum HRC/heat treat like the Ritter RSK CF Knifeworks sprint. I would really like to just see M390 and analogs, 154CM, S35VN, CPM-M4, 14C, and so on be hitting the ideal mark, and aiming for it. It would not require a major shift in difficulty; instructions and results desired are clearly documented. Would love to see a DLC/Cerakote finish option on a K390 blade, as an aside. It sucks that some excellent.models fall flat to insistance from companies deciding that low and unpotentiated bladesteel is ideal for the end user, despite the consumers blatantly and forever stating otherwise. Hopefully some Chinese friends will start using Magnacut optimally.
    By the way, have you got your hands on any M398 or the Maxace Killer Whale 2.0 in ASP60? The TwoSun TS306 is kicking all manner of ass in M398. ASP60 is so scarcely used for blades, but it is up there for highest edge retention contenders. The KW 2.0 is just a top notch model itself. Would love any thoughts, and YES, TESTING!!! Much love, bro

    I think an interesting argument for karambits is the versatility of strikes. With a regular knife you have forawrd, diagonal, and horizontal; meanwhile, a karambit just goes anywhere you throw it and still retains the possibility of a forward strike/sweep. Your video really helped me see that and the emerson feature of course makes the karambit the fastest draw of any knife. (but let's not kid ourselves walking around you already have it drawn if you feel unsafe and its nighttime)
    Great video!

  • @lincolnpascual

    I can't imagine not being able to figure out how to deploy a karambit with the Emerson wave in a reverse grip. Don't listen to this guy. You absolutely CAN deploy it in reverse grip without "ONLY having the ring". The design is LITERALLY made to do that. This guy? Buddy, some mobility exercises might help. It's not rocket science to figure out how to deploy it effectively.

    I’ve had this knife for a few months now. I’ve never had to use it for self defense (thankfully), but there are a few things I’d like to add to this video. First, you can actually top flick the knife open. It doesn’t really work all that well, but it’s still pretty cool. Second, the frame lock is really stiff (on mine, at least). It tends to hurt your thumb a bit if you open and close it a lot. Third, you can deploy it without needing to change your grip if you pull the ring with your pinky finger and keep the rest of your fingers open. Just pull up and back and then close your fingers when you clear the pocket. Fourth, the finish on the pocket clip is the same as the blade. If you get a black blade you will get a black clip. All of the other hardware is either beadblasted or tumbled, it’s kind of hard to tell, but it’s that silky steel color you see in the video. Fifth, magnacut is kinda overkill for a self defense knife. It’s a great steel, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not like you need that edge retention for a knife that’s realistically only going to be cutting through a couple feet of meat or opening boxes every once and a while doesn’t need it. Hope this helps! I’ll edit if I encounter or remember anything else.

    I'm kinda interested in getting one of these myself but I'd have to sell my other karambits 1st.
    Also you didn't mention if it was running on bearings or washers

    I bought a comfortable little Kershaw from Walmart but the blade steel was so bad. Bought the 3" CJRB with the D2 steel because of your video. Very happy so far thanks a bunch. Love watching your videos and all those amazing knives.

    I feel like they will come out with Ti version, like they did with the Thrill. I enjoy the shape of the thumb hole. Handle seems a bit large (for a karambit.)

    Mine was so stiff at the deployment that I removed the Flipper and when used the Emerson Wave from My pocket, the screws blew up everywhere. I felt very dissapointed but for a piece of magnacut steel, I think I'll preserve the blade and will seek for making a custom handle for it.

    The lionsteel M4 has been my favorite fixed blade for years now.
    All these self-defense knives seem to serve more of a fantasy than real life use. Honestly I think the majority of people who really use these on other people are likely the ones you need to defend against. Plus legally, you're far better off using a gun for defense than a knife. A gun is kind of passive; I squeeze the trigger here, you fall down there. A knife? You need to be up close an personal, it takes much more intent. It's harder to explain than a gun.
    My brother's friend has been Boston cop for years told me "better a gun then a knife, and better shoot to kill than shoot to wound."

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  2 года назад +1

      Of course, but not everyone can carry a gun, and in some cases it might not be the best option, everyone wants the best thing but sometimes having different tools allows atleast for options

    I tested 2 of them, one 63 HRC - The other one 63.6 HRC. I would have liked 61/62 HRC better for the application the knife is made for. Nevertheless, very cool knife, like it a lot. I would like to add, lionsteel is a bit inconsistent, not only in heat treatment as well in their flipping mechanism, some are smooth and others not so much.

  • @davidsayegh1806
    @davidsayegh1806 2 года назад +1

    It’s a Karambit. You draw it in a traditional reverse grip. Index in ring. The clip is on the wrong side and also liner locks suck on defensive blades. Spyderco Karahawk is where it’s at for a folding defense karambit

    • @AN-re7vi
      @AN-re7vi Год назад +1

      This isn't a liner lock. It's a frame lock.

    • @davidsayegh1806

      @@davidsayegh1806 I never said anything regarding which locking system is better. I was just pointing out how you called it a liner lock, which would be incorrect.
