    Let me tell a story about training. When I started riding I changed up my carry to fix blade on my hip. Instead of folding knives, front and back pocket. I was filling up one night In a bad neighborhood. So I was doing a weapons check as you do. When I checked for my blade In my front pocket it wasn't there. Check my back pocket same thing. Then I remembered it. On my hip. I had never really trained with the blade and forgot it was there. It was frustrating and personally embarrassing. I had a good laugh afterwards.😂
    Now I train with it everyday.✌

    The thing I like about knives in regards to Threat mitigation is as Bio-Mechanical beings with a blade I can turn off a Hand/sArms/Achilles tendons as an option. I don’t have to resort to lethality only. I can take out muscles,tendons,nerves…the means and electrical impulses a Dipsh:t utilizes to do me and mine harm. And I can cut a steak. Great Viddy and knife. Cheers

I appreciate it even more because in my country - Poland, self defense, especially with knives is a taboo topic, especially , paradoxically...on knives forums. If you even dare to touch this topic you will be ostracised, put down and called a psycho in a matter of a minute. this is unfortunately our communistic regime legacy - a slave is not supposed to defend himself, this mindset is so deeply rooted in the minds of some many ppl that they are not even aware of it.

    Tim does amazing work. I feel like even more attention should've been placed on his sheaths/carry options. the streamlined sheaths are minimal and his clips are simply the best options out there. You can really tell how much thought and planning goes into a TKell blade.
    Simply spin that blade around your finger and tap someone on the forhead with the back side and see what happens. A gash the size of the Grand canyon!

    Beautiful knife and the carry options are great as well. Personally id prefer it without the ring but that is just personal taste. AEBL is a good steel but there are many better options out there depending on use. Without training in a stressful situation your more likely to forget that you even have it on you. Many overlook the training part but it's essential for any type of personal defense that you might employ. Thanks for the look see and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

    I used to use a similar blade, the Dmax karambit, as my self defense EDC blade. carried it the same way as well, deep front right pocket. Actually ended up saving my life, TBH. I was working as a contractor overseas, and things got hairy. ended up getting stabbed in the chest 9ehh... below the collarbone line, but way above nipple height. about where you pocket a rifle stock) before I could get to the blade. That woke me up, other guy didn't survive, and the blade was left lodged in my chest til I got to medical.
    Best thing about karambits and other similarly made blades? That ring means the knife doesn't get stuck in the targets body, and makes follow up attacks much faster and reliable, especially when it starts getting bloody. Icepicking a person becomes a much simpler task to perform, and that's likely what will save you in a close encounter like that. Hollywood knife fights and shit like The Raid simply don't happen IRL. You probably won't see the blade coming if they mean business. Just hope that you survive long enough to get to work yourself. I got lucky with the other guys knife getting stuck in my chest. That isn't the norm, so prepare for the worst and use situational awareness better than I did (TBF though, I was doing everything as right as I could... shit still happens. When your number is up, it's up).

    Any way of carrying a knife for defensive purposes that does not allow it to be easily drawn with both hands limits its use in an unexpected cqc. Pulling such a knife out of some carry positions with a hand other than "planned one" may result in a not very secure and awkward grip. Stay safe.

  • @ak4dreday

    I like this thing quite a bit, have just a tiny hand to hand background both from just being from where I'm from plus starting my former education early on, and I've been in more situations than I'd like to admit, with one that ended with my melon split and 21 staples....where I'm going with this is, a thought crossed my mind that night...fuck, I wish I had my blade...never again! And people will talk about guns and carrying, but in some situations, a knife will do wonders against a gun especially if it's within my blades range....one thing I would change, a few deep serrations placed right before that point on the top

  • @kvernesdotten
    @kvernesdotten 23 дня назад

    Self defense knives is such an interesting topic to me. I am not American, so forgive my perspective, though most of the world isnt either and in my defense I have spent quite some time in the US. So the first thing that I find super weird, is the notion of carrying a knife as a weapon in the country with the highest concentration of weapons in civilian circulation on the planet. What makes that even more risky imo is the number of unlicensed and concealed firearms around. As the saying goes, dont bring a knife to a gunfight.
    The second thing I struggle a bit to understand, is the logic behind the legality of them. Or illegality, depending on where you are. I dont know if its the same in the US, but in most western countries you can actually get a harsher punishment for stabbing someone, than straight up shooting them in self defense. Depending on circumstances of course. That usually goes for the countries with stricter knife laws too, so this argument I keep hearing from alot of reviewers that a "self defense" knife is a good alternative when travelling, doesnt hold much water. Another part of this is that most countries have laws that define a weapon not as what the object is, but what it was used for. What that means is that it doesnt matter if you stab someone with a knife, screwdriver or edc prybar, the action is the same and punished for the most part the same, and those edc prybars in particular are VERY popular as a "I can use this as a makeshift self defense knife when travelling" in the edc community, which again is horrible advice. If you are stopped by police abroad, and they ask you the purpose of your knife/prybar/whatever, and you even answer "self defense" you can go to jail because the purpose is what dictates the object and its now in your possession for the express purpose of being a weapon.
    Third oddity to me is that almost all of these knives that are made for the purpose of self defense, are made to be held in an ice pick grip. On the surface it sounds good, you do a hammer punch with it and it creates alot of force without the need for any fine motor skills. Where it falls apart for me, is that the purpose of using a knife in a fight to begin with, is that you now have the advantage of being able to cause alot of damage WITHOUT using much force at all. Ive also heard people say that its because in a reverse grip, you can use your hand more readily for punching and such, but theres literally nothing you can do in reverse that you cant do just as well in a regular grip. It makes alot more sense to me to hold a knife like a knife is meant to be held, where you can actually utilize its advantages of slightly longer reach and less effort to cause damage than your oponent. It also helps that everyone instinctively knows how to hold and use a knife in a regular grip, its familiar.
    I have a bunch of other gripes too tbh, but this comment is long enough already haha

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  23 дня назад +1

      So for the usa different states have different laws, and some places especially some very dangerous ones limit your ability to carry firearms. Also there's lots of people that are restricted from carrying for a variety of reasons. A knife can be used best in a clinch when someone's already coming after you or grabbing you or has you in a bad position, as far as up close a blade beats a knife in many cases especially within 10 feet. There's a lot of strong arm robberies where someone might try to pull you out of your car etc.. and having a blade in the front wear your buckle is typically the best place as it's difficult to stop you from getting. As far as the after effect as the old saying goes you'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. And as far as grip you should train for all grips and depending on the blade you carry will depend on how its used, as far as holding in the reverse grip a back fist punch is powerful and very fast, ofcourse you don't need much effort but when your fighting for your life things don't go as planned, going after limbs, hands, groin etc.. will most likely stop them from what they are trying to do hopefully

      That little nub takes all the force from your punch and directs it into that small area to break and fracture whatever it hits like a baton. I've seen people that look like they've been ran over by a semi truck after getting pummeled with them. Especially around the face, all those bones are extremely susceptible to such weapons. Broken jaws, teeth, eyes pop out of sockets, necks get shredded and tear like pool liners, ears explode like tomatoes, noses get demolished, truly horrific and not something to use on someone unless you're trying to kill them.

    It is NOT 100% USA made. Do a tiny bit of research, or maybe know something about the knife industry( if you are gonna pretend to educate people).
    AEB-L is made in Sweden.
    It's a great steel, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.
    What IS wrong however, is you, your methods, knowledge base, and opinions.

    Why would someone attack such a nice guy as you :) Seems a bit hostile to me when you walk around all the time with such a tactile knife.

    Nice review man! @tkellknives doesn’t get enough credit on just how good the quality of his knives and sheaths are.

    Don't test a guy who calls getting your face shredded with broken glass an "inconvenience" 😅 probably not gonna work out well 🥷
