It’s a sign of the greater general lack of economic prosperity for young people. It’s a soulless industry, but if your soulless landlord raised the rent, you gotta fucking do something about it. If I were attractive enough and in a shitty enough situation, I would do it. It’s the reason why scams are at an all time high. People don’t have a lot of money and are more likely to trust scam artists even though the internet has millions of people pointing out how it’s all a big scam. People are looking for a way to make more money because they are stuck in a dead end minimum wage job with no prayer of upward mobility. And this lack of economic prosperity drives people to scam others or become a soulless e-thot who takes of others. Then that feeds the cycle of people who are stuck in life for different reasons, this time socially more than financial, to donate huge amounts of money for the fake dream of actually dating the streamer.
