    Nice work Joel! The coating on the pistons is Hard Anodizing! Frenkit out of Spain is a great source for Brembo caliper components! That’s where we get our components! Crack On!

      Hi Graem, many thanks and nice to hear from you. I will bear that in mind. Hope you are well. Regards Joël

    Just done the exact thing today with my calipers and they look identical to yours. The top part of the thread gets corroded because of the steel bracket that's fixed to the caliper ( dissimilar metals) but there should be enough good thread to get hold of the brake pipe nut and pul it in tight.
    I did replace the seals with Bigg Red ones, £22 for all in both calipers , they get good reviews so we'll see.

      Good job. It’s well worth saving the callipers. They are such expensive components of the car. I did look at big red but everything is taxed coming out of the UK. I went OEM

    Great to see you back here Joël and it has been a while. Funny, I'm currently gathering parts for a fairly full brake job on my 996 but will wait until the weather sours as I've had too much fun actually driving the car this summer. Currently, just gathering parts: new discs (SHW) all round, ceramic pads, sensors and am just debating whether I should get replacement sets of those brake dampeners before I start the job. Having not dealt with salt, I think (hope?) my calipers are still in pretty good shape. I think you have previously alluded to a big move...will be interested to hear what awaits. All the best.

      Thanks Marcus, remind me where you are based? If you are saying no salt I guess it’s either Japan or West Coast US. Damper parts are worth doing. These deteriorate over time but just have a look when you are in there. OPC has them in over night. Mine looked OK from outside but inside they were hollow! 😅

      @@My911 Your deductive powers are pretty good. I am indeed on the west coast...but of Canada. I will add the dampeners to my shopping cart. From other comments, it appears you might be westward bound to the US?

      Hi, yes, I am indeed heading to the US. First to Vienna for a year then on to Florida. Big move but very exciting.

      Ps, if you do anything with your rear shocks, take a look at the spacer between the spring top plate. Mine was cracked in one side which affects the ride hight a little.

      @@My911 I am getting there mate. The Farm is starting to get started now it's Spring here. Almost getting things ready to start videoing. Dad and I built the front fence and gates. I didn't video it dad dose not want to be on video just quiet yet. I will start our big vegetable garden before summer so I will video that. Oh and a introduction video is on the to do list. It's been longer then I wanted to be to restart my RUclips channel because I almost lost my right hand last year with freak accident on the farm so been a long recovery. I will explain it all on my first video back.

      Gees, that’s mad. I hope you have made a full recovery. The videos will come in good time, no point putting pressure on yourself. You can start with small updates on Instagram, it’s way less work. Good luck with the veggies, sounds awesome. 💪👍

    Does this move mean you're going to have to convert the 996 to RHD, Joël?

    • @My911
      @My911  4 месяца назад

      Hi, thanks for your message. The move may be too far to take the car sadly, but we will have to see. Where there’s a will there’s a way.

      @@My911 Containers can be delivered just about anywhere.😁 - Just don't take it to a 2 mile long island by the sea!
      Surely the Landy and the 996 need to stay together for their (and your) happiness?

      @My911  4 месяца назад

      This is true. I’ve checked and it’s about 3k to ship a car to the US. That times two and your into big money. But you are right, something will have to be done. Can’t restore two cars and just leave them. 😢

    • @zg8626
      @zg8626 4 месяца назад +1

      I see 2 options:
      1. Negotiate the costs into your relocation package.
      2. Loan the cars to someone like me until your eventual return to Europe.
      In the 1st case, you're going to have to get your skates on in case (oh no!!!) the orange twit wins and builds a wall. To be fair, Landys are well known for eating pets... 😂

      @My911  3 месяца назад

      Thanks for the offer. I will keep it in mind. In reality. I’d the cars stay in the EU, they will need driving.
