I think this is all about preference, the straight pipes have a more raw, aggressive sound while the glass packs have a smoother sound and deeper rumble
I love the rumbling idle of a “cammed” V8 breathing through long-tube headers and turbo mufflers! Much more subtle until you open the throttle! I have a 1993 long-bed 4x4 with a 351W.
I tried the strait pipe on my truck, I didn't like it lol I just got a 2 1/4 inch glass pack. I prefer the growl of a glass pack more than a screech of a strait pipe. Yours sounds very nice!
Me too! I love the grey better. Sounds throaty and loud. Sounds tough. The red one dosnt sound like it could pull an acorn from the ground. The grey one sounds like it has torque. The red on sounds like its got tweark.
Glass packs always sound better than straight. Straight makes a lot of noise but the noise is unpleasant. Glass packs give the noise a pleasurable tone :)
them trucks looks nice. I got myself 1996 f150 4x4 with 302 in it 170,000 miles on the body and engine and still going. i use it for hauling heavy stuff and metal scrap and i use it as daily driving too. never lets me down true BUILT FORD TOUGH
I think the straight pipes sound more raw and mean, it works well on a truck. the glasspacks sound fucking mean too but in a more refined way. both sound great, thanks for the comparison.
we used to heat up our pipes and then stick a hose in em and run cold water up in there to crack the glass :) had glass packs on all my lowriders back in the day. got flowmasters on my lowered chevy silverado, but this vid has made me decide to stick some glass packs on it.
I'm partial to Straightpiped, Biased maybe, but I'm used to running them on a 351 or 390, I just bought my sisters 95 F150 Eddie Bauer, and it's got the little 302 in it, I don't like how they get high pitched and raspy at higher RPMs, but the glaspacks (and maybe the diameter difference) make a world of difference, nice trucks you got there, and thank you for posting this, gave me a broader aspect as to what I want.
Mine is from VA, been here in OH for 2 years. I plan on fluid filming the underside once I find a decent gun to spray it with. I'd rather spray it twice a year than have it rot out.
straight pipes always sound as if the motor is lugging on the big end I've ran em both and went back to the packs every time. now straights do sound like a beast while shifting out but both does that great
Mufflers or not, you can instantly hear the difference between headers and stock manifolds. Stock manifolds just sound more congested. Its hard to describe
@@chrishansen7004 I always assumed it was because most truck motors have different compression ratios. Like how a 4.6 in a f150 is going to have a different compression ratio than a 4.6 in a mustang due to different intended uses of the motor.
the top pipe is 2in and the bottom is 2 1/4in. I did that to my 92 with A 302 but you have to have the pipes bent to make them fit right youre probaly better off having it done at a shop
Would love to see you ran the pipes for the duals around the transfer case. I have a 95 F-150 with a cat-back Dynomax exhaust that has some rumble, but nothing like either of your trucks! Kinda prefer the sound of the cherry bomb set-up personally.
Stright pipes are a pain in the ass :P The exhaust rotted away on my montecarlo. So I cut most of it out and put shorter pipes out the side... Cool, Sounds great for a day, Then after a week of comuting, people looking at you funny, making excessive noise while trying to push the throttle gently as possible Ya just think 'Shut the hell up!' Glass pack allways sound awsome tho.. I now drive a quite car because im boring. I guess.
I have real duel exhaust on my truck and just put it on today with a cherry bomb glass pack on each pipe. It sounds sick as fuck. With a k&n cold air intake system and other fun mods
coming from a guy who had a straight pipe on my last 5.0 302 ford, dual glasspacks sound way nicer on them...one thing tho, should ran the rear pipes off the ground for echo noise on cement...thats wats goin on my next 5.0!
straight pipe is definately bad ass.....i think glasspack sounds absolutely beautiful, and would maybe sound just as mean as straight if it was 3 in straight pipe?
They both sound amazing, which one would you recommend for my truck??? I have a 96 f-150 xlt 5.0 302 4x4... Crew cab, short bed... These trucks sound awesome, which way should I go???
You want more power or empty noise? That's all you need to ask yourself. Headers and the bigger exhaust improve your throttle response and gain a little power, while the small cherry bombs just sound cool.
I used to have a 95 chevy silverado with headers, true dual 3 inch exhaust, eldelbrock performer 600 carb an an edelbrock performer rpm intake and cam. that truck made your truck's sound like a girls truck
I like both trucks! I'm considering going with Flo-tech headers and cherry bomb extreme mufflers with 6inch Magnaflow tips? I'm looking for a load throaty sound to go along with my 95 Chevy. Would you consider this a good purchase?
Glasspacks sound the best. Straight pipe on that truck is too much, but i lopped the muffler off of my 01 chevy and i like it. Straight pipes really depend on the engine and exhaust setup.
where are you from? im in florida and same goes for us. i havent had cats on any of my vehicles and ive had 6. always the first thing that comes off. i had a 81 firebird and ran open headers for 2 months straight and it was a daily driver and never once got pulled over. haha. i actually just bought a 94 f150 with a 302 today and was wondering what glasspacks would sound on it. i definitely like it. decision made. im buying glasspacks tomorrow :)
and to dude saying it's the glass inside them it's never been a pack with actual glass in them it's fiberglass packing around the inner straight thru baffling
I like the Red truck sound better just because the black sounded LOUDER hahaha I'm thinking about doing this to my 96 F150 but my question is, do they have STOCK headers and did you guys removed the catalytic converters? I was thinking straight 2.5" pipe from headers all the way back...
quick question. i have a straight pipe on my 2000 F-150 and was gunna put a glasspack in it, this is the only video ive seen were its actually loud all the others seem quieter than my truck...i dont wanna buy this thing if its gunna make my truck quieter, or is it cause you have duals?
Red truck has a deeper sound! i like that one
that would be the glass packs
I want duel glass packs. Just for my city folks.
Straight pipes don't filter out high frequencies. The glass packs do!
I think this is all about preference, the straight pipes have a more raw, aggressive sound while the glass packs have a smoother sound and deeper rumble

Iron Manifolds + 2" pipe + glasspacks = The sounds of the 70's and 80's!
*ALL* of our trucks sounded like this!
red one sounds way better
both sound good, but the cherrybomb glasspacks are better soundin
I tried the strait pipe on my truck, I didn't like it lol I just got a 2 1/4 inch glass pack. I prefer the growl of a glass pack more than a screech of a strait pipe. Yours sounds very nice!
Red one sounds goooood it’s more clearer
glass packs everytime
i like the raspy in the longtube heders
glass packs such a beautiful, mellow, rolling sound!!
Best trucks ever made hands down
I bet their neighbors love them
Mine will once I pull my borla and cats off butt I have an H.O Wich will sound better with straight pipes
its a trailer park they don't give a rats ass lol
I love the laugh at the end. also I like the glass packs if theyre on a sports car but the straight pipe on trucks.
Me too! I love the grey better. Sounds throaty and loud. Sounds tough.
The red one dosnt sound like it could pull an acorn from the ground.
The grey one sounds like it has torque.
The red on sounds like its got tweark.

R.I.P Headphone Users!! -.-
Too late, im already deaf...
Early 90s f150 are fucken sick.. love those designs.. nice truck bro

Definitely the straight pipes. sounds sick. Just cut one of my friends exhausts today.
red is better
Just got me one that identical to the green one. Solid truck. Neighbors hate it.
I have always loved the sound of cherry bombs especially after burning out !
headers and straight pipes without a doubt sound pure bad ass
I bet the neighbors love these guys
Glass packs are always the best. Deep and throaty without being too loud
Hey man the gray ford with straights sounds awesome!!! Are they true duals or a Y-pipe??
2 nice sounding trucks, very well done video too, straight to the point and nice comparison
the red one sounds mean man. Not raspy at all. pure mean ass ford!
The red one as a super nice raspy tone, best v8 sound for my taste
I'm partial to Straightpiped, Biased maybe, but I'm used to running them on a 351 or 390, I just bought my sisters 95 F150 Eddie Bauer, and it's got the little 302 in it, I don't like how they get high pitched and raspy at higher RPMs, but the glaspacks (and maybe the diameter difference) make a world of difference, nice trucks you got there, and thank you for posting this, gave me a broader aspect as to what I want.
I agree I have an unknown brand of glasspack on my truck with 24" resonators and it evens out the tone and sounds really deep doesn't pop as much.
Good ol Ohio boys. Sure are clean Fords for being Ohio trucks. Thinking about tuning the exhaust on my '89 F250 351.
Mine is from VA, been here in OH for 2 years. I plan on fluid filming the underside once I find a decent gun to spray it with. I'd rather spray it twice a year than have it rot out.
yo mama gonna kick yo butt boy for tear'n up dat lawn.....!
straight pipes always sound as if the motor is lugging on the big end I've ran em both and went back to the packs every time. now straights do sound like a beast while shifting out but both does that great
Nice vid guy..like the straight pipes...gives it a nice chunky sound
the glasspacks give it that deep ballsy sound.
Mufflers or not, you can instantly hear the difference between headers and stock manifolds. Stock manifolds just sound more congested. Its hard to describe
Its that "clapped" sound. I hate it. Trucks sound like shit compared to cars straight piped mostly.
@@calebheney302it’s because of the crossover pipe, do an equal length x pipe and it sounds a lot better
@@chrishansen7004 I always assumed it was because most truck motors have different compression ratios. Like how a 4.6 in a f150 is going to have a different compression ratio than a 4.6 in a mustang due to different intended uses of the motor.
The red truck also doesn't have resonating tips which give a deeper sound.
the top pipe is 2in and the bottom is 2 1/4in. I did that to my 92 with A 302 but you have to have the pipes bent to make them fit right youre probaly better off having it done at a shop
my dad had an old jeep pickup with a 351 windsor and it had glasspacks their the best
They both sound awesome!
I used to have a ext longbed. I miss it so much now :(
The glass packs actually sound good in this vid
I love when the two top comments agree with each other.
Take off every thing and just have dual 24 inch glass packs you'll love it
Keep rockin the southern flag
Fuck that
Ok thanks man, btw how complicated was setting up the headers? What is the process you go thru to add them?
How much did it cost to get the cherry bombs and straight pipe on the red truck? Like the installation and cost of the actuall system. Please reply.
Straights sound the best to me, fuck what others think I say if it pisses them off your doing something right.
Would love to see you ran the pipes for the duals around the transfer case. I have a 95 F-150 with a cat-back Dynomax exhaust that has some rumble, but nothing like either of your trucks! Kinda prefer the sound of the cherry bomb set-up personally.
They both sound great but I think the red one is the best
cool vid
I got a 460 big block with stock manifolds and 3 and a half inch pipes with 16 inch echo tips and it is so flipping loud !
Hey dude with the glass packs put some tips on your exhaust and let me tell ya it will sound even better! do a 18 inch tip with 4inch outlet!!
Zachy Sack does that make it louder? I’ve been told it doesn’t do anything
Stright pipes are a pain in the ass :P

+Maxine Mason lol true
lmao
my brother's 92 f150 with a 302 would shoot flames about 2 feet out of the pipes when he would rev it. all that was done to it was straight pipes
they both sound and look good. nice trucks man !
i like the straightpipe better but thats because i like loud. loud is good. but hey you should put some tips on the red truck. loud pipes save lives!
got a 97 k1500. thinking bout doing some straight pipes with headers. what did you pay for the setup and what manufacturer?
I have real duel exhaust on my truck and just put it on today with a cherry bomb glass pack on each pipe. It sounds sick as fuck. With a k&n cold air intake system and other fun mods
great vid man they had a show on speed about cerrybomb and it sounded great
coming from a guy who had a straight pipe on my last 5.0 302 ford, dual glasspacks sound way nicer on them...one thing tho, should ran the rear pipes off the ground for echo noise on cement...thats wats goin on my next 5.0!

what would a straight pipe with glasspacks and longtube headers sound like?

Your an idiot. Everyone know glass means fiberglass, their not called “fiberglass packs”
Glass packs sound better in my opinion but I do like both
those cherry bombs sound pretty good
Honestly I’d go with 3” glass packs other than the 2.25”, straight pipe has a more muscle car sound, but its ear shattering after a while
The last one sounds awesome!
i'd personally go with the straight pipe.
Whats the difference between flo-tech longtubes vs hooker competition headers?
did a teradactal shit on your hood truck sounds great thats real good for your valves ask your local dealer they will love it
I got a glasspack on my 93 F150 with a 351 Windsor, sounds great!
I got an 84 f150, long tube headers, no muffler with 3 1/2 feet long and 1 foot side exit pipes. 2 1/2 inch open pipes. 302 carbureted engine tho.
@leemanboyz2ndgen I have a 94 351 and let me tell you, those engines are naturally deeper straight piped and will sound even better =D
the cherry bombs sound sick
they both sound good but that 93 made me get goose bumps. fuck yeah! :D
I like the Red truck sound better just because the black sounded LOUDER hahaha I'm thinking about doing this to my 96 F150 but my question is, do they have STOCK headers and did you guys removed the catalytic converters? I was thinking straight 2.5" pipe from headers all the way back...
Get yourselves some resonator tips, makes it less anoying but still sounds good
@nelerser you can get a tuner or just get a set of headers that have the o2 bung so you can still use the o2 sensors thats what i did
LOVE THEM FUCKIN STRAIGHT PIPES!!!
Do you get the same mpg improvement you do with the exhaust system or does the straight pipe leave it the same?
where did you get those headers and how much? do you have cats or not? If no cats, how did you get around them?
With the glasspacks it sounds about like an '84 Ford runnin a 460 (Straight Piped). But I must say nice trucks! And Nice Video!
Glasspack sounds sick
Music to me ears! Very cool!
did you cut the pipe right after the o2 sensor and put pipe in place of the old cats on the red one?
Both vehicles sound great!
quick question. i have a straight pipe on my 2000 F-150 and was gunna put a glasspack in it, this is the only video ive seen were its actually loud all the others seem quieter than my truck...i dont wanna buy this thing if its gunna make my truck quieter, or is it cause you have duals?
hell yea man both trucks sound badass
both of em im down with straight pipes but i do like the pop of glasspacks
20 seconds is the best part of the whole video
i like both of the trucks but the red one sounds better!
Sounds good....however I prefer the throaty exhaust tone
