To this day I still don't actually own one of the funny shark plushies, I wanted to consider trying to pick one up for myself but currently trying to manage money around is a bit of a hard feat. There's just so much stuff I want to buy! And I also have big plans ahead of me in the new year of 2023, as someone who's currently unemployed. But I'll try my best to manage.

I brought one because of stereotypical trans girl memes. I don't even usually LIKE plushies. Somehow I love my blahaj though
here are some [totally very serious] reasons why I like my Blahaj:
- 1m long soft shark, perfect to cuddle [amazing for when touch starved on a daily basis]
- Hugging it actually helps me sleep when I'm feeling stressed or sick [when everything feels like it is going downhill just hug your blahaj, problem fixed!!]
- Meme icon [i dont think i really have to explain this one, the shark plushie just has that many memes about it]
- Trans icon [most other trans people i know have one too]
- Has the trans flag colours [yes cotton candy flag very amazing yes yes]
- Is shork [i like sharks][sharks are cool]

So I just went to IKEA today and when I saw the Blahaj, I was just like 'aw it's that meme shark!' and I ended up going home with one of the small ones without actually knowing the fact it's a trans icon thing. Also yeah, it's stupidly cheap for its quality and size! (I'd have taken home the bigger one but I still had to take the train home and I ain't lugging a 40 inch shark home on the train)

I think the reason is that Blåhaj is trans flag colored, blue body, white stomach, pink mouth
You mentioned the wide availability and the relative low price in every countries own currency. But you didn't mentioned Blahaj themselves. I mean... look at Blahaj. One main reason could be Blahaj's face and the whole body posture. They tell the story of an entire life attitude. Also another reason may be companionship. Some people even speak of adopting Blahaj instead of 'buying'. They are not just a toy. For many people Blahaj is a family member. We could deep dive into psychology for the reason why people are personifying not alive objects. But that would take away the magic of Blahaj.
The reasons are very clear cut for me:
1) It is kind of trans colored with its white belly, pastel pink mouth and blue top-side. Yeah the blue is a bit off but it still radiates trans flag for me.
2) it's a very good stand-in for a body pillow and I hug it every night when I sleep.
3) It's remarkably cheap and also readily available in large quantities. When you're going to an IKEA anyway it's quite easy to just take one with you, _and_ orderable online.
4) Sharks are beautiful animals and the plushie captures that pleasing shape.
5) Trans people I've known before getting my blåhaj have been able to convince me of its pleasing haptics. There's no hard stuffing, the material is super soft to the touch and it is light to carry without problems despite its size.

I heard that in Canada people getting surgery such as top surgery, bottom surgery, etc, got Blahaj plushes. The plushes weren't blue sharks though, Blahaj was blue, pink, and white. What I am saying is that the dopamine from Ikea's support made people wanna buy Blahaj plushies.

This thing is the complete opposite to the tungsten cube (it’s big and relatively light-weight while the cube is small and really heavy) but both have incredible Amazon reviews and don’t know why.

Its a long ass shark that fits my collection of random of ocean life plushies
And its like a body pillow so you can fall asleep at anytime

It's cute af, that's why. It's the cutest plush at Ikea. Other than the alien, the other plushies are ugly. Not to mention, it's super affordable. I don't think you can find cheaper plushies at this size, unless you order straight from China or something. Even then, you'll still need to pay for shipping.
