I don't like the obsessive Leon fans that want him to be the protag of every single game or diminish his character into 'hot twink baby girl'. Like there are so many characters in this franchise that deserve the spotlight but they continuously refuse to acknowledge any other character. I've even seen many of them make fake leaks of Leon being in RE9, like the man had one game where he was cool and has been in every animated movie but they still want more.
You forgot the new game haters. Basically they are older people who make you feel bad for not playing the og games and for playing the remakes or anything to do with Winters family. I think the "biggest issues" are how the OG or new kid on the block refuse to listen to the other, see "outside" their little low IQ brain and they both smack talk to each other. You "have to d ride them" and if you don't? They will attack you and jump into conclusion. We can go back to RE2 Remake in it was the topic of the year. We have one group who want "fixed camera tank control" and want the gameplay to be the same but with modern graphics added in. Some of us were like,"What's the point of that then? I wouldn't waste my money buying the same game over and over. You're paying x amount of dollars for..what? Graphic change? We have a lot of those RE2 classic graphics update already". Of course some of the fanatic were like,"Oh! I bet you're first RE game was RE4!".
I was a kid when the first one came out. We had all 3 of the classics. I wasn't introduced to CV until a couple of years ago on my PS3. I played 4 when it came out and loved it. I also nabbed the RE1 remake for the GC. I never minded the action half of the series. It turned it into a rescue series. The first 3 were all about survival, while CV is a direct assault with survival elements. 4 bridged the gap between action and horror. The story is just cheesy fun. So, I naturally love 5, 6, 7, and 8. I never met an RE game I don't like. Even Survivor was super fun for me with the dorky voice acting and the action oriented style of play. I just love mowing down monsters, to be honest.

Most of my friends didn't even hear of resident evil. Most people in my school didn't play it or know it existed. Gaming wasn't like it is now. It was big, but it was also mostly considered for "nerds" then. If you ask your average person who is 35+ what their favorite resident evil is - they will probably ask you wtf you're talking about lol.
@RahzZalinto Uh, I had friends who played Doom, Duke Nukem, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, just to name a few. We had many discussions on the playground about our favorite things about the games. We would also play Mortal Kombat via shadow boxing. I don't know what kind of a place you grew up in, but I come from the country, and the kids got games to be shut up and happy.

I agree w/ the last topic fully. Resident Evil is supposed to be horror-cored, so love& romance duzn't/shouldn't rly fit. Just like the movies, the best horror is where everyone dies, nobody wins, and there's heartbreak. So Leon&Ada never hooking up is the best thing becuz BOTH of them are rly more in love w/ their jobs/duties. One bad type of resident evil fans are definitely the kinds of fans who just hate on remakes for no reason just to prop up the originals, I enjoyed both the original RE4 and the RE4 remake but you got people like crowbcat who slandered the RE4 remake just to make the OG look better in comparison and then you got other people who make unjustified claims towards RE4 remake for the way it wrote the characters for example with how everyone praises the original RE4 Leon to death but accuse the remake RE4 Leon of basically disrespecting the original by being edgy when they made it very clear that he is that way because of his raccoon city trauma which people agree understandably makes him feel more like a real person with everyday struggles that the fans can relate to The way Ashley, Luis and Ada are written as people understandably agree made them way better and more compelling and important to the story when looking back at the OG they felt off, especially Ashley of all people and Luis who had way less screentime compared to the remake, The way the characters are written feel more like real human beings which im stories naturally allow people to get attached to them and create memorable emotional stories that are able to be more than just comedy like the original RE4 is People can have their preferences but Its basically the types of people who praise the originals too much and trash on any remake or adaptation that comes out for no justifiable reason because no matter what an adaptation or remake does in their eyes it wil never live up to the original
At least you don't have to worry about the type of Resident Evil fans who try to dunk on other series when they talk about crossover fights like saying Leon would kick John Wick's ass or Jill would kill Lara Croft and Chun Li in one punch. It is one of the reasons why certain fandoms like Dragon Ball, One Punch Man & God of War have become toxic because of how the contexts within the narratives are set up to making freakin Goku, Saitama & Kratos fans think they would beat ANY character in a fight, Superman, Thanos, Thor, Doctor Strange, Darkseid. It just tells you how little they know about other series.
See I'm kinda the opposite, when 4, 5 and 6 came out. I just stopped playing them AND talking about them lol. I do own a hard copy disc of RE4 but i never played it for more than liek 20 minutes lol. If not for the remakes, I probably would still to this day have no idea what happens in Re4. I did play 5 and 6 but that was only for the multiplayer aspect with my signifciant other. I don't care what other people like - but I was a little disappointed that my survival horror genre just kinda disappeared for almost a decade...and did what every game at the time was doing, military simulation/action. To make matters worse, I'm a US Army Ranger IRL at the time and just rolling my eyes with cringe lol. Anyway, that tangent aside, RE4 remake managed to bring a level of seriousness and horror and meld it almost perfectly with the action IMHO. Masterpiece if you ask me lol. Hope they can do the same with 5 and 6.

I was so disappointed with the female fans of this community for not standing up against the hate and harassment towards Lily Gao but instead they were rewarding the bridal haters towards her the likes of Sphere hunter and Melonie mac especially both acted unprofessional. I’ve always said it, unless you do a copy and paste movie/ tv show you will never make these “hardcore” RE fans happy. I really like RE because of how far and different this franchise can be taken. I agree with all of your points about this, and I see it, too. Even though I may be a huge Ethan Winters fan and dress like him at times, but I don't get too obsessed with the whole thing. I used to be obsessed with characters a lot, but outgrew that. Now, I'm more of an adult now dealing with responsibilities rather than be obsessed with characters to the point I become them. And with characters, I love the characters as they are aside from the ships. I don't go crazy over ships like these people do. I mean, I used to be like that as a teenager, and most of my 20s, but not anymore. And personally, I'm in the middle of old school and new school Resident Evil. I don't mind either thing. And like you, I just want to enjoy Resident Evil because it's something I love. Even make great music videos and trailer styles with them. I also enjoy playing the games and watching cinematic game movies of Resident Evil with the cgi movies and miniseries. That's all I do. Honestly, I hate most of the old games due to the limitations they brought. The only “old” RE game I think I can actually appreciate is RE5, due to it being a superior OG RE4 in terms of gameplay, RE6 and RE Rev 2 are some of my favorite games in the series, as well as every single remake. I’ve never had issues with anyone having a different view than I am about these games, shipping and knowing lore is something I like doing with people in my family who are also massive RE fans, it’s fun, hilarious & absolutely a blast lmao. Attacking anyone in any fandom should just stop, it’s beyond annoying, they should just grow up already.

And he thinks that the original RE2 is better than the remake and I defended the remake because it’s not a lazy game like really? How the hell is the RE2 remake lazy? Also old schoolers, if these guys were in charge they would push out the same game every time and re would get stale and we would not get re games right now, the series would have been dead long ago. I would probably lump the “character fanatics” and the extreme “shippers” into one group. Though I can see how you might prefer to give them each their own spot. With that extra spot open, I would probably have my fifth group be something like “Capcom’s Corporate Cultists”. By that term, I would refer to the subset of fans that will automatically side with any business decision Capcom makes, no matter how blatantly lazy, anti-customer, etc. it is. Also, they seem to judge how much of a "true fan" someone is, based on how much one is committed to mindlessly shelling out money for Capcom and acting like they are automatically owed customers' money. For example, they will try to paint pay-to-win micro-transactions as a good thing in RE4 Remake (when such options in singleplayer games used to be implemented as free cheat codes, etc.) and apparently even in the recent RE multiplayer spinoffs. Or they might try to use Ad Hominem attacks to shut down any criticisms, regarding how the RE2+RE3 Remakes are unfinished in certain areas and/or leave out major pieces of content/replay-value with no adequate replacements. If one still enjoys those remakes in spite of the cuts and/or did not mind those specific pieces of content being left out, that’s fine, but they shouldn’t act like others don’t have a legitimate reason to feel short-changed by Capcom.
I've been in a resident evil group on fb for like 2 years even the group I'm in is rather civil for a fb group but God damn there is alot of some of these categories 😂 I love the firearm aspect of resident evil its pretty much 90% of the reason I chose a beretta 92fs as my first carry pistol when I turned 21 and cus of my autism after years of being told I have a unique shooting stance I realized after 20 years of playing re1 I have 100% copied Jill's shooting stance and never noticed until 2 years ago when I was playing resident evil 1 remake 😂😆

Plus re4, re5, re6 all great games, my personal favorite is re3 original and re6, my favorite re character is jill valentine, now when it comes to the re7 and 8 , for me its not a re game it doesn't fit, now the games are good but not for the re franchise, abd here comes the remakes re2 , re3 re4, well for me good games but when to compare the original to remake they miss the mark had so much potential but it is what it is. I never got to play the OG games I do have RE1R RE0 and the Remaster of RE1R and RE0 but from what I've seen from playthroughs of the OG 1 2 and 3 the remakes are actually Reimaginings not remakes imo if you look how Loyal the RE1R is to the OG 1996 RE1R is it's a loyal remake but The newer Remakes aren't they are definitely good game sorry for the rambling
The Resident Evil fans I dislike are the ones who hate on remake Jill. She is literally the most human and realistic Jill Valentine the franchise has ever gotten, and her voice actress Nicole Tompkins did an amazing job. Jill is very well written in the remakes, not only do they explore on Jill’s trauma from Resident Evil 1, but they also show changes of her character through her personality. She’s more careful about trusting other people ever since she was betrayed by Barry Burton and Albert Wesker, she’s also more tough in the outside so she won’t show any weaknesses to her enemies, but she still has her compassion for others. To me, the fans that hate remake Jill are a bunch of sexists who see females as motherly side characters while male characters like Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield have to be badasses and get all the attention and hype from the fanboys. Let’s not forget Jill and Chris were the first main protagonists of this franchise, let’s not disrespect the first characters in Resident Evil please.

RE fans whom I encountered some issues with are mostly from Facebook (LOL) and it's about my critical thoughts with Ada's new VA for RE4R, my adoration for Milla's RE films, and my love for RE6 -- most of the people who seem to be closed minded are those who grew up with classic RE (not saying ALL of them are like this) but yeah, some of these fans are so toxic. I am however, so grateful for people like you for having an open mind and are very fun to engage with 🫶🏻❣️
I don't like the obsessive Leon fans that want him to be the protag of every single game or diminish his character into 'hot twink baby girl'. Like there are so many characters in this franchise that deserve the spotlight but they continuously refuse to acknowledge any other character. I've even seen many of them make fake leaks of Leon being in RE9, like the man had one game where he was cool and has been in every animated movie but they still want more.

I grew up in 90s but i love the remakes. Actually im old enough that re4 came out when i was an adult. So to me, re4 remake fixed the cartoony feel of og re4 for me lol. Love re4 remake xD. Goty for that year for me actually

We can go back to RE2 Remake in it was the topic of the year. We have one group who want "fixed camera tank control" and want the gameplay to be the same but with modern graphics added in. Some of us were like,"What's the point of that then? I wouldn't waste my money buying the same game over and over. You're paying x amount of dollars for..what? Graphic change? We have a lot of those RE2 classic graphics update already". Of course some of the fanatic were like,"Oh! I bet you're first RE game was RE4!".
I was a kid when the first one came out. We had all 3 of the classics. I wasn't introduced to CV until a couple of years ago on my PS3. I played 4 when it came out and loved it. I also nabbed the RE1 remake for the GC. I never minded the action half of the series. It turned it into a rescue series. The first 3 were all about survival, while CV is a direct assault with survival elements. 4 bridged the gap between action and horror. The story is just cheesy fun. So, I naturally love 5, 6, 7, and 8. I never met an RE game I don't like. Even Survivor was super fun for me with the dorky voice acting and the action oriented style of play. I just love mowing down monsters, to be honest.

Most of my friends didn't even hear of resident evil. Most people in my school didn't play it or know it existed. Gaming wasn't like it is now. It was big, but it was also mostly considered for "nerds" then. If you ask your average person who is 35+ what their favorite resident evil is - they will probably ask you wtf you're talking about lol.
@RahzZalinto Uh, I had friends who played Doom, Duke Nukem, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, just to name a few. We had many discussions on the playground about our favorite things about the games. We would also play Mortal Kombat via shadow boxing. I don't know what kind of a place you grew up in, but I come from the country, and the kids got games to be shut up and happy.

I agree w/ the last topic fully. Resident Evil is supposed to be horror-cored, so love& romance duzn't/shouldn't rly fit. Just like the movies, the best horror is where everyone dies, nobody wins, and there's heartbreak. So Leon&Ada never hooking up is the best thing becuz BOTH of them are rly more in love w/ their jobs/duties.

One bad type of resident evil fans are definitely the kinds of fans who just hate on remakes for no reason just to prop up the originals, I enjoyed both the original RE4 and the RE4 remake but you got people like crowbcat who slandered the RE4 remake just to make the OG look better in comparison and then you got other people who make unjustified claims towards RE4 remake for the way it wrote the characters for example with how everyone praises the original RE4 Leon to death but accuse the remake RE4 Leon of basically disrespecting the original by being edgy when they made it very clear that he is that way because of his raccoon city trauma which people agree understandably makes him feel more like a real person with everyday struggles that the fans can relate to
The way Ashley, Luis and Ada are written as people understandably agree made them way better and more compelling and important to the story when looking back at the OG they felt off, especially Ashley of all people and Luis who had way less screentime compared to the remake, The way the characters are written feel more like real human beings which im stories naturally allow people to get attached to them and create memorable emotional stories that are able to be more than just comedy like the original RE4 is
People can have their preferences but Its basically the types of people who praise the originals too much and trash on any remake or adaptation that comes out for no justifiable reason because no matter what an adaptation or remake does in their eyes it wil never live up to the original

It is one of the reasons why certain fandoms like Dragon Ball, One Punch Man & God of War have become toxic because of how the contexts within the narratives are set up to making freakin Goku, Saitama & Kratos fans think they would beat ANY character in a fight, Superman, Thanos, Thor, Doctor Strange, Darkseid. See I'm kinda the opposite, when 4, 5 and 6 came out. I just stopped playing them AND talking about them lol.
I do own a hard copy disc of RE4 but i never played it for more than liek 20 minutes lol. If not for the remakes, I probably would still to this day have no idea what happens in Re4. I did play 5 and 6 but that was only for the multiplayer aspect with my signifciant other.
I don't care what other people like - but I was a little disappointed that my survival horror genre just kinda disappeared for almost a decade...and did what every game at the time was doing, military simulation/action. To make matters worse, I'm a US Army Ranger IRL at the time and just rolling my eyes with cringe lol.
Anyway, that tangent aside, RE4 remake managed to bring a level of seriousness and horror and meld it almost perfectly with the action IMHO. Masterpiece if you ask me lol. Hope they can do the same with 5 and 6.

I agree with all of your points about this, and I see it, too. Even though I may be a huge Ethan Winters fan and dress like him at times, but I don't get too obsessed with the whole thing. I used to be obsessed with characters a lot, but outgrew that. Now, I'm more of an adult now dealing with responsibilities rather than be obsessed with characters to the point I become them. And with characters, I love the characters as they are aside from the ships. I don't go crazy over ships like these people do. I mean, I used to be like that as a teenager, and most of my 20s, but not anymore. And personally, I'm in the middle of old school and new school Resident Evil. I don't mind either thing. And like you, I just want to enjoy Resident Evil because it's something I love. Even make great music videos and trailer styles with them. I also enjoy playing the games and watching cinematic game movies of Resident Evil with the cgi movies and miniseries. That's all I do. And I apologize if I ever got on the wrong foot in your Ethan Winters video at the time. I hope we can still be great friends despite that.

Honestly, I hate most of the old games due to the limitations they brought. The only “old” RE game I think I can actually appreciate is RE5, due to it being a superior OG RE4 in terms of gameplay, RE6 and RE Rev 2 are some of my favorite games in the series, as well as every single remake. I’ve never had issues with anyone having a different view than I am about these games, shipping and knowing lore is something I like doing with people in my family who are also massive RE fans, it’s fun, hilarious & absolutely a blast lmao. And one thing I can't stand in the Resident Evil fandom is the teenagers and 20 year olds because they absolutely know nothing about the franchise and their brains haven't developed into adult brains yet. They think they live in a fantasy world. As for shippers, I don't have problems with it, as long as it's not their whole life blood or take it very seriously. I love how you mentioned that Ada is your favourite outside of the ship. People need to love characters outside of their ship. The ship doesn't define the characters, the characters define themselves. That's the same with people who love franchises, people shouldn't take it too seriously because it's all fictional and a bunch of pixels. These franchises aren't real and neither are the characters real. They should go touch grass. And some people who claim to be fans of characters don't really understand the characters well, which I hate. And people should realize that these characters and franchises are here for our entertainment and to enjoy, these things aren't meant to be taken seriously. I would probably lump the “character fanatics” and the extreme “shippers” into one group. Though I can see how you might prefer to give them each their own spot. With that extra spot open, I would probably have my fifth group be something like “Capcom’s Corporate Cultists”.
By that term, I would refer to the subset of fans that will automatically side with any business decision Capcom makes, no matter how blatantly lazy, anti-customer, etc. it is. Also, they seem to judge how much of a "true fan" someone is, based on how much one is committed to mindlessly shelling out money for Capcom and acting like they are automatically owed customers' money.
For example, they will try to paint pay-to-win micro-transactions as a good thing in RE4 Remake (when such options in singleplayer games used to be implemented as free cheat codes, etc.) and apparently even in the recent RE multiplayer spinoffs. Or they might try to use Ad Hominem attacks to shut down any criticisms, regarding how the RE2+RE3 Remakes are unfinished in certain areas and/or leave out major pieces of content/replay-value with no adequate replacements. If one still enjoys those remakes in spite of the cuts and/or did not mind those specific pieces of content being left out, that’s fine, but they shouldn’t act like others don’t have a legitimate reason to feel short-changed by Capcom.
I've been in a resident evil group on fb for like 2 years even the group I'm in is rather civil for a fb group but God damn there is alot of some of these categories 😂 I love the firearm aspect of resident evil its pretty much 90% of the reason I chose a beretta 92fs as my first carry pistol when I turned 21 and cus of my autism after years of being told I have a unique shooting stance I realized after 20 years of playing re1 I have 100% copied Jill's shooting stance and never noticed until 2 years ago when I was playing resident evil 1 remake 😂😆
Yeah, there are some fans and this can be any type of fandom. There are some fan that seem to forget that Resident Evil is just a video game. It's a fictional story, taking place in a fictional universe, with fictional characters. The keyword is here is, Fictional. There's a difference between being a die hard fan, and a nutcase.

I grew up with the original re games 1,2,3 original, the side games as well. Plus re4, re5, re6 all great games, my personal favorite is re3 original and re6, my favorite re character is jill valentine, now when it comes to the re7 and 8 , for me its not a re game it doesn't fit, now the games are good but not for the re franchise, abd here comes the remakes re2 , re3 re4, well for me good games but when to compare the original to remake they miss the mark had so much potential but it is what it is. 3 is my favourite too I remember playing it in 99 when I was like 6 and getting my dad to get me past nemesis in the police station because I was scared 😂

I never got to play the OG games I do have RE1R RE0 and the Remaster of RE1R and RE0 but from what I've seen from playthroughs of the OG 1 2 and 3 the remakes are actually Reimaginings not remakes imo if you look how Loyal the RE1R is to the OG 1996 RE1R is it's a loyal remake but The newer Remakes aren't they are definitely good game sorry for the rambling

The Resident Evil fans I dislike are the ones who hate on remake Jill. She is literally the most human and realistic Jill Valentine the franchise has ever gotten, and her voice actress Nicole Tompkins did an amazing job. Jill is very well written in the remakes, not only do they explore on Jill’s trauma from Resident Evil 1, but they also show changes of her character through her personality. She’s more careful about trusting other people ever since she was betrayed by Barry Burton and Albert Wesker, she’s also more tough in the outside so she won’t show any weaknesses to her enemies, but she still has her compassion for others. To me, the fans that hate remake Jill are a bunch of sexists who see females as motherly side characters while male characters like Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield have to be badasses and get all the attention and hype from the fanboys. Let’s not forget Jill and Chris were the first main protagonists of this franchise, let’s not disrespect the first characters in Resident Evil please.

Naaa. There's nothing wrong with not knowing every little detail of the games. What does bother me though, are people who've played one or two RE games, claim to be hardcore RE fans and stuburnly try to sell me fiction as facts. 🫤
RE fans whom I encountered some issues with are mostly from Facebook (LOL) and it's about my critical thoughts with Ada's new VA for RE4R, my adoration for Milla's RE films, and my love for RE6 -- most of the people who seem to be closed minded are those who grew up with classic RE (not saying ALL of them are like this) but yeah, some of these fans are so toxic. I am however, so grateful for people like you for having an open mind and are very fun to engage with 🫶🏻❣️
