100% agreed. Jill’s motive was way ahead of its time and ppl back then (even tho it’s not long ago) didn’t buy that someone would do something so insane just for internet and social fame. It ties in so well with the jealousy of Sidney’s unwanted fame.
Me too. I like the simplicity of 5 and enjoy the kills and setting change of 6 but 5 plays it to safe and 6 got kind of stupid at the end. Fake out deaths and killer reveals knocked it down below 2 and 4. 3 is the worst. 6 is the most frustrating because 1st half was awesome. 2 has great set pieces and 4 has goriest kill and best killer reveal since og.
If they actually made her ghostface it would of been so shocking, I like the idea she could of snapped, right before we find out who the real killers were for a second I really believed she has turn to the dark side
The fact that there was so much behind the scenes turmoil and Scream 2 and Scream 4 came out as good as they are is a testament to the genius of Wes Craven
I definitely didn’t see the reveal coming on my first viewing. It was a nice touch after the underwhelming reveal in #3 plus you do see people like #4’s killers unfortunately commit crimes for the reasons these two did
Jill's reveal felt too real. And ahead of it's time. Like 'ugh this is going to spread, isn't it'. Respect to Wes Craven. Always put in enough social commentary to make his films important, in their way.
I'm biased because 4 came out while I was in high school and just getting into horror, but it's definitely my most watched and most enjoyable watch of the series.
This was a dream come true for me when it came out I felt like a child again! I spent years just imagining how a scream 4 could be at that time with so many new stuff! New world ! And I wasn't disappointed with the master of horror!
Scream 4 is ridiculously underrated and homegirl Emma Roberts is in the Mount Heavymore of greatest cinematic villians. She kinda stole Billy's original's thunder and created straight-up pure lightening bolt of unforgettable bad-assery.
Best scream sequel to date. The first time I watched it I didn't like it, but today it's my favorite next to the original. This movie was way ahead of it's time.
Except 6 kinda sucked, 5 was pretty bad ,4 wasn't very good and 3 was just bad and not just because Columbine happened so things had to be toned down. 3 would have been awful even if.....Scream has had 2 good movies at best.
Honestly my favorite scream sequel with my favorite ghostface killer, this movie goes so hard. A bit sad the killer original opening scene was cut tho, I really don’t care for the one they went with
Definitely not my favourite in the franchise, but I appreciate what it tried to do after a decade of no scream (after 3). Jill is arguably one of the best killers
This movie gets better with each watch and will continue to do so because the plot works so well with how the times are now. They basically predicted the future and the meta stuff is exactly how it is now. Comes close to Scream 2 as my second fav
@@vampirascoffin870 it's a matter of preference/opinion, I've got mine and you got yours. both have something in common and that is part 3 makes both look better.

4's humor ruins the suspense for me and 4 didnt make me care about the new characters, they were too self aware, unlike Scream 1 there were characters in Scream 1 that werent aware of all the tropes, cliches and rules so it added real fear since the characters were not savvy about the rules, only Randy, Stu and Billy did. In Scream 2 I cared for the innocent Derek and liked Mickey being another film buff to spar with Randy, and Sid's roommate Haley was sweet. Also Duey being heroic and Sid's trauma and struggling with it on top of Liv's performance of Cotten Weary is a scene stealer, I wanted more of him, didnt like that 3 took him out so fast.
The motive was ahead of its time and the movie suffered for that-it’s such a timely motive, being jealous and wanting to be famous but not actually working for it. And Sidney was incredible in this sequel!
I still don't buy into that her niece is a cold blooded killer. Her family suddenly has history of mental illness? A 90lbs teen is able to do that with the help of her geeky sidekick?
@@FireteamYogurt I thought, and this is just my subjective opinion, B Street Scream 6 was better than five, but at the end of Scream 6 It got too convoluted with too many killers. And the killers went for far TOO LONG explaining not only their actions but their motives.
Scream 4 is the second best in the series for me … the way the the new character and legacy characters blended together was perfect … unlike in scream 5
I would have liked a cliff hanger with Jill living. It would just open up a lot of possibilities for the story to wade into. For example, you could just send her straight to jail and pivot to "we're safe now!" then boom a new killer pops up. Or they could put Jill on trial, there isn't enough evidence, so she gets to go free. Then when killings start happening again, everyone wonder if it is a Jill again. Or Jill somehow become a cultish type celebrity where crazed fans worship her and make it hell for the survivors.
This is my favorite scream and I think it’s because it’s the only scream where the meta aspect of the story directly ties into the reveal. If you understand the story, you immediately understand the motives. I think that works perfectly, and far better than Scream 5.
Right lol. I only liked the ending cuz it showed it was in the original house. It made me not see scream 6 in theaters. Because movies arnt made like they used to be.
Scream 5 should learn the lesson to never attack its fanbase with that "toxic fan" BS, funny coming from a franchise connected to the Weinsteins. They should never have replaced Kevin Williamson. He had class and respect for the horror genre and its fans.
I love Scream and Scream 2. That is all. My reasons for not liking the other sequels is obvious with the rush and toned down Scream 3 being not scary and not "horror" at all and the absense of Kevin Williams. Scream 4 was a mixed bag and I just did not enjoy it. I never bothered with any other sequels after 4.
I think the new scream movie should be focused on Kirby. And they should play to the tropes found in movies like Seven and Silence of the Lambs. Make a police style horror/thriller. Scream hasn't done that yet.
4:32 This isn't entirely correct, Roman was directing Stab 3 during Scream 3 which wasn't based on "real" events. Although that movie didn't launch, so you may be correct.
Ehren Krueger isn't a bad writer the only reason the third film was bad is because they forced the movie to have no gore. He did a great job with the rewrites for "Scream 4"

I swear I had read years ago that the original ending had Sydney dying and Jill getting away with it, hence the camera crew heralding her as a hero at the end. The plan being that the next film the audience knows from the get go who the bad guy is unlike previous who-dunnits. But alas I can't find any proof of the article, but I think that would have been a better choice than the ending we got. And can we please get a Gale Weathers vs John Wick film already? (both of them are straight up Wolverine) Edit: I should probably wait to comment until after the video. But at last confirmation!!
For starters Scream 2022 is far from awesome, it's OK at best and Scream 6 has a lot of issues to and Scream 2022 wasted the legacy characters and gave Dewey a garbage send off! Scream 4 has problems though a lot of things in the original script were better and my understanding is Kevin did make some changes before he left so we don't know everything Ehren Kruger changed!
For the time it was made this really did manage to recapture what made the first film special. Yes it’s a little too meta for its own good at times, but I did enjoy the addition of characters like Kirby who I was glad to see appear again in #6
We need an extended cut of this movie with all the deleted scenes, this movie is already underrated asf and original, but there were so many great call backs to the og movie.
Really enjoyed number 4. Nico Tortorella, Hayden, Culkin, etc. were all welcome fresh faces. But Emma Roberts petulant child antics just didn't land for me. Everything about the ending was exceptional except for her performance in my opinion.

Don’t know why the hate Scream 3 gets….. any subsequent entry has been pulling random family members in order to create connections.
I liked Scream 4 when it was released, but on subsequent rewatch it doesn’t quite hold up and it’s one of my least favorite sequels in the franchise because I found out what the initial goal was (Scream 4 was supposed to kick off a new trilogy with Jill getting away as Ghostface and the legacy characters fate were lift in limbo); I was really disappointed that instead of going in that route, they decided to make a run-of-mill slasher movie and with a lack of new commentary on the current landscape of the horror genre that they’re poking fun at. While marathoning the franchise, I can honestly say that “Scream 4” is the first installment in the franchise that feels very dated by its cinematography and its slasher-formula. When I watch it, it feels like I’m watching one of those low-budget old fan films that you’ll find on RUclips.
