Randy's Death was one of the greatest deaths in slasher movie history. It was tragic, unexpected at the moment, shocking. Also, him dying the way he would have died in the first movie (not watching his back and letting himself get separated) wearing similar colors involving a news van.
I always enjoyed this sequel, it was a decent follow up. I liked the way they were able to poke fun of themselves through "Stab", and the soundtrack was great.
I mean, yeah. But the opening in of itself was really great. I mean, being killed within a crowd with the killer having the same costume is honestly terrifyingly possible.
I think it's weird how some people think that this scream is underrated where in most cases it's consider one of the best horror movie and movie sequels all of time period, it's my favorite movie of all time
At first I saw this and agreed that it wasn’t underrated, and that most people DO think it’s as great as it is, but I’ve been seeing ALOT of people rank it low, and I’m BAFFLED. Like I genuinely don’t understand how this isn’t either Tied with the first or ranked number 1. There’s sooo many layers to this movie that none of them have. And if you don’t want your Scream Film to be layered, fine, but some of the takes from these people are just down right crazy. Like I heard someone say with a STRAIGHT FACE that the bathroom kill was the most unrealistic kill in the entire series…as if there wasn’t someone killed in a garage door!
@@pictureperfect3211 I love your comment and I agree and that ending kept us on our toes and was dramatic and intense not to mention it was shot visually beautiful and it show the after affects of trauma
Considering how rushed the movie was and the fact they had to make literal last minute e changes to the ending, Scream 2 came out insanely good and I would argue its the best sequel of the series as of now
Love Scream 2. Remember going opening night, and the theatre went nuts during the opening scene. I'd Micky as the killer pretty early on but didn't see the Mrs Loomis reveal coming at all. It's easily one of the greatest sequels ever and the best Scream behind the original.
This is probably my favorite horror sequel, and also the most re-watchable Scream in the entire franchise. Hard to believe how fast they churned this brilliance out.
Perfectly expanded on the lore. Felt very natural, to the point where I always assume Cotton Weary was as much a part of Scream 1. The way the story developed in 2 just seemed inevitable.
This was the second most talked about movie in my high school. It was slightly better than the first. Mrs. Loomis was my favorite character in the film.
I loved Scream 2!!! Sarah Michelle Gellar is one of my favorites! The whole movie is gang busters awesome 😎 Thanks for sharing this really entertaining video! 😁🦝👽
Love Scream 2. It’s actually the first movie in the franchise I saw. Scream 1 is forever the goat for me and a top 10 movie for me all time. Here’s my order 1,2,4,3,5. I’m thinking 6 will sneak in right after 4 as I’m really excited for Kirby’s return.
@spenser9908 this movie does a whole new thing that scream has never been done before. It actually has me looking forward tk a new Scream since oddly enough Scream 2.
Great video and observations about Scream 2! It’s always been my favorite of the sequels. I can’t help but hold some nostalgia for seeing it on opening night and having a sense of boiling over excitement for it…I still feel it every time I watch it, almost 26(?!) years later! I always thought it got an unfair bad rap amongst the sequels as well. One other thing it introduces is Dewey’s seemingly indestructible nature throughout (most) of the sequels. That definitely works and feels fresh here, whereas, it’s almost expected in 3 and 4.

Did you get that in film? Yes, I got that in film.
The reason I have loved the Scream movies is due to the Meta Commentary of films. I'm afraid we aren't going to get as much meta from this new trilogy which will diminish the franchise overall.
Scream 2 isn’t just my favorite scream, but it’s one of my favorite movies ever and I love the attention and respect it’s been getting as of late- it’s an unsung masterpiece that stands shoulder to shoulder with the first scream easily! Kevin Williamson is one of my favorite screenwriters and Wes Craven was a masterful storyteller and I think radio silence carried his torch beautifully in scream v- that whole 3rd act was For Wes! Got my tickets for 6 on Thursday, I better see like 50 ghostfaces otherwise what’s the point of it being in NY! LET’S GO!!!
I feel like this movie does suffer due to rushed rewrites after the script got leaked. Mickey was clearly not meant to be one of the killers and by the time its revealed he was, he had been missing from the plot since the cafeteria scene that is extremely cringe to the point where even the cast admitted that they hated filming that scene. Also, I hate that the movie had horror expert Randy had an iconic Aliens line wrong (Aliens: Get away from her, you b***h!" Randy: "I believe it's "Stay away from her, you b***h?")
As a teenager i thought scream 2 was way better than scream. Better jump scares plus the theatrical experience. Still to this day i remember the sold out audience and it was one of the best experiences i ever had and as good as i felt partv3 was it was just not the same. Scream 4 was more of the woke movie and the smarter sequal. But all in all scream 2 teigns supreme and to think not that much blood i am sure this could have passed a pg 13 rating after a few edits. I can honestly say the same magic didn't happen til scream 5 but still scream 2 was soo great.
This is the best sequel in the franchise by a country mile and its actually a better movie overall than the 1st. Sure the 1st one is always rated as the favourite due to being original and having the shock factor. But Scream 2 is up there
I agree with your praises of this movie. Scream 2 is my favorite (I like it even more than scream 1). And I think the scream 2 opening is the most clever and meta killing ever.
to this day no one can give me a legitimate reason as to why they rank 2 low on the list. it's my favorite scream film and nancy loomis is my fav killer! i also think it's much more effective not having Sidney see Nancy at any point throughout the film, because Sidney is so smart that she would quickly suspect her, as she recognized her the moment she saw her in the third act. also fact check, Stu was supposed to be the killer in 3, not 2.
I'm convinced that Dewey and not Randy was the one who was suppose to die, but because he and Courtney Cox were dating they demanded they both survive for future films and instead they killed of Randy. Randy's death feels so out of place. Daytime in the middle of a park whereas Dewey's is perfect death scene, which he by some miracle survives.
I totally agree with your assessment on this, especially in regards to Randy. I do feel like using his niece as the new “Randy” was a redeeming factor in the new re-quels.
No one could see the killer reveal coming unless of course they clue in on the fact that it's a known established actress in a seemingly too small of a role for her who keeps making regular appearances throughout the movie. Hmm
I loved it as a kid, but seeing it in my late teens I thought it was kinda boring. I saw it last year for the first time in years & enjoyed it a lot. Although, the movie sequel discussion scene where the class name drops great sequels is a bit cringe when Randy dismisses Aliens, & he misquotes the film.
Scream 2 is one of my favorite films of all-time!❤❤. I prefer it to the original movie. It took all the elements that made the original so great and made them bigger and better😊😊. The cast is better, the cinematography is better, the music compositions are more memorable and polished, the meta-slasher and social commentary still feels very relevant today and makes Scream 2 age very well. This is the movie where Courtney Cox was had the best hair😊😊. I love how Scream 2 has a distinct identity out of the entire franchise; it has its own unique aesthetic and feels the most like the 90s. I love talking about Scream 2. Wayyy better to Scream 4😊😊😊😊😊
My strange theory for Scream 6: The killer this time is Sidney. Don't know if they could write it in a way that actually makes sense, but it would be the ultimate surprise, especially since Neve Campbell is officially not in the movie. The whole "she's not in the movie because we didn't want to pay her enough" kinda sounds like the elaborate lie they told us for the last Spidey movie, you know the "Andrew Garfield and Toby McGuire won't be returning as Spidey in this movie" lie.
I only love the first two Scream movies. But I cnt decide which of the two is my favorite. I love the first movie but Scream 2 really is high up there with it. I like to think of them as a two-parter 1 movie.
2 has been my favorite sequel since I was a child. The only one that has come close to over throwing it since then has been scream 2022.3/4/6 have been good but nowhere near number 2 I’m my opinion
Like was said here, this came out as the internet was gaining popularity and being such a lover of the first film I was all over them fansites and so on.... Until I read about "The Ranky Meeks Theory", something I immediately regretted and spoiled everything, before there was the common term "spoilers". I only read the first sentence but it was enough. I think this movie gets lost in the universe. All the sequels talk about The Orginal, my only issue is Mickey would have been a terrible Ghostface if it was anyone other than Timothy Olyphant. He nailed and made Mickey be more interesting. He's the most mysterious of them all.

This was my favorite of the original trilogy. It built on everything that worked in the first film.
It’s the best sequel of the franchise
SCREAM 2 IS MASTERPIECE
Must say…. This one is the most “stylish” wardrobe wise out of the franchise….
Everyone looked great and probably was the prime of the OG cast.

Honestly, as soon as I saw Laurie Metcalf, I somehow knew she'd be one of the killers. She came off a little too unhinged from the get go.

What did you think of 6?
It took me, a huge Buffy fan, 20+ years to notice that Cici (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is watching Nosferatu. Amazing easter egg.
Scream 2 is my favourite of the franchise, great opening, kills and chase scenes 👍🐾💜
2 is so brutal it was definitely the ‘meanest’ installment before 6 came along.
