Go for it! Back in the ‘70s, my pal and I used to get absolutely legless in the centre of Aberdeen, then walk home in the straightest line possible: cars, back gardens, parks, walls, hedges, vertiginous fences, nothing stood in the way of our crawl home… Happy days!
The production value is amazing, let alone the stamina you showed during your mission, no chickening out, no hesitation no too-much-thinking, just straight missioning, props to you guys
@@sclurbs4298 Verity wasn't a crew of 3 that helped bring everything he needed for his mission, including food, shelter, water, etc. He carried all that himself. These guys didn't carry anything except a GPS and a gopro. They slept every night in a van brought by the crew.
@@MrNight-dg1ug Verity certainly offered MUCH less support than these lads, true, but of the things you mentioned them providing, she's given geowizzard to some extent or another. Food, water, kayaks, he's slept in her car a few times as well. Geowizzard may be much lower on the spectrum of no support purity, but he is patently not banging out 'no support' runs

Def not enough views on these. They are Wizard quality straight line videos. I like the support crew aspect, allows for far greater shenanigans with a dry van waiting. Also the support crews drone snips.... outstanding.
Unbelievable series. No need to rib on the Wizard anymore! Brilliant you worked together on Wales straight-line Winter 2023 👍 Amazing what a youthful man can do. You guys got to catalogue a unique event that you can look back on yourselves... And it gives your audience great pleasure too. 👏👍
I dont understand why every straight line mission starterpack consist of getting your feet wet, would probably be better to use overboots or something like that. But still nice video guys.
Looks like a nightmare route. I think I'd put a strap on the GPS--it would be easy to drop it in the snow or down a slope and never find it. Good video.
Yeah a little wrist lanyard might have been a good move, although you need to put it in your pocket when going over tough obstacles so it might be more faf than its worth if you have to keep taking it off. and you cant have any straps on your body as they get caught on trees...
Except for Geowiz's Pit bog-incident in Norway, this is the most dangerous straight line missioning I've seen so far. That cold weather and snow makes everything ten times worse.
Love the cheekiness, but also the HARDCORE commitment to stay bang on line even for sleep and number twos! :p Major respect to the support crew, that's really the way to do it properly.
This has been some incredible work so far. It's a very underrated series considering how high-quality it is. Hopefully it picks up some more views. Impressive commitment and stamina, some expert use of professional equipment, quick-witted persuasive skills from the whole team... you might just have a platinum run in the bag!
Stunning shots, the transition from green valley to snowy mountains really is something. Also nice narration and production, quite impressive stamina plus I love the occasional cheeky comments, à la "that was easy".
This is awesome! I loved Tom's (GeoWizard) videos and I see you take a lot of inspo from his way of describing the journey but in the best way possible. And the drone shots - amazing! Your support crew did a great job too. I hope you guys made it! Good luck, this should have a lot more views and you get a new subscriber - I'm looking forward to part 3!
Watched this due to Geowizard sharing the link. Loved it! Doing it wearing trainers and on the inflatable unicorns 😂😂 Now for part 2! Thanks Lads 😊 I have subscribed!
Every planted forests start like this, it is later than competition and foresters clear it up. A natural regeneration spot also is very dense, even denser, but on a much smaller area (in a clearing made by the fall of an old tree), and then only competition decides which sapling will take the place of the fallen tree
8:42 this kinda reminds me of when me and my friend were volunteering in Peru and we decided to take a short cut home, instead of following the long winding track we went up this gully track that went up the mountainside for miles more in a straight line.. at first it was easy.. occasional boulder climbs.. but the gully got steeper & steeper & narrower & narrower until we reached almost the top.. a short vertical cliff face of dirt about 2 metres or so with a huge drop behind us.. it seemed almost impossible to climb up over this ridge and slight overhang... we could stretch up and grab the top but not pull ourselves over.. it was pretty precarious.. we didnt want to walk all the way down again and back round the long way, but trying to get over the overhang (with no ropes) was too dangerous.. luckily just as we were about to give up, some old farmer popped his head over the ridge and gave us a hard yank over the ridge. No innuendo insinuated. Its amazing how strong these old Peruvian guys are. He might have saved our lives...
I have massive respect for what obstacles you guys dared to tackle, though scaling that cliff face seemed bloody dangerous. In that sense I do prefer Geowizard's playing it safe method. But damn, traversing those snowy woods for miles, you guys are dedicated and strong!
Seems a bit silly too when they had support crew members at the top with ropes. Could have used those as safety lines if nothing else. Least that way if anyone does slip you have a way to safely lower them down to a safe spot without them picking up enough speed that the sudden stop at the end breaks something they need to continue aliving.
Really recommend doing some climbing or scrambling courses for next time. Bring a harness and some knowledge you can tackle even steeper ascents and be safe doing so.
Cooking equipment only takes up more space as there were 5 of us on the trip, space in the van was limited. Quick and easy food like sandwiches were the way to go.
I think its a great team effort, but you guys need better gear to scale dangerous cliffs. Wear a helmet. You don't need to fall hard or deep to break your skull. Just saying..
On what grounds are you calling them dumb or unprepared? And what's wrong with being cheerful? The main thing these guys do differently is they carry much less supplies and instead have much more frequent meets with their crew, I definitely prefer Tom's approach but these guys are okay too.
Tom's was the smarter more prepared approach. These two rely heavily on the support crew- very much a brute force approach. Still entertaining. (and I reckon Tom would have done it, had he tried in the times of Scotland the free instead of Scotland the tyrannical)
@@AngryDraconequus1 Well one of them was wearing trainers lol and they never had any warm or dry clothes. Also their knowledge of climbing for example is non existent.
It's got way more to do with the fact that their support crew was bringing them everything multiple times a day, rather than them having to carry their own stuff, and more importantly, that Scotland isn't shut down due to the pandemic

One thing you learn about these straight line missions is that they're damn near impossible without some support
I think people don't realise this. If you aren't supported at some point it's literally impossible. Even with support this is still very difficult.
