    MC Hammer was so fun!
Too bad back at that time Black America cancelled him.
“Gangsta rappers” got jealous & called him a “sell out” because he built a brand & started doing commercials.
He was sincerely one of the most generous entertainers of that time.
Now look at all those same artists who clowned him for going mainstream & branding, doing commercials, acting, pushing their own drinks & clothes etc.
    MC Hammer💕🔥

Pretty much. MC Hammer paved the way for a *LOT* of people to get paid. Doesn't get any credit for it. Interesting that the biggest African-American pioneers in music were either sabotaged, cancelled, killed or any combination of the three.
MJ, Prince, Whitney, 2-Pac, Biggie, MC Hammer, James Brown, and many others.

Nephew ALLLLL THE DANCE STEPS Hammer did in this video we ALL DID. That was how we danced back then. At The Clubs, In The Streets. That was just US.
We as A People were ALWAYS KNOWN as Dancers and Singers. It is ONLY in this generation that has come that all of that has basically vanished.
What he does in the video is how we danced.🤷🏾‍♂

Hammer definitely had his own style. Different from the rest. During that time people had their own individual styles. That's why you had your groups like Kwame , Outkast, Run Dmc, Arrested Development, Salt and Pepper, MC Lyte etc. All different. They all had their own unique way and individualism. Not like today most look like the rest. Style is a form of individual expression. 😉

He was chasing what Michael Jackson and athletes were doing with selling products and branding. Especially, since he grew up in the baseball culture. That sh..t was tight tho you rite..that beat, his moves, the whole thing..I still come back to this & bump this whole album every now & again some 30+ yrs later..classics stay official they never go out of style. He still had it into the 90s its just the record companies added on to his concerts & shows too many extra dancers & crazy glittery suits on him & he lost his street cred as the pop scene crowded out his street scene. But late 80s at this point he was like the hottest thing on the West coast..but they were still bumpin' this & Turn this Mutha Out on every station even Hot 97. I remember that whole period. Hip Hop was barely 10 yrs old so it was a mixed bag of styles unlike today. Ppl in the streets was bumpin' this hard tho. His style seems kinda funny today but nobody had seen nothing like this before except maybe MJ was a body moving type music & the break dancing scene. In fact some stations DJs tried to say he was overshadowing MJ but everybody knew that was saying too much. His style of Hip-Hop made cars bump hard & his whold style got in you & made ppl get hype & dance. Hip Hop today has lost alotta that freedom of diversity of styles. It was a body type Hip Hop. It was just a d'ffrnt time. I'm glad I lived to see it tho.

Late 80's early 90's Hammer was by far the hottest thing in Rap. The industry wanted negativity and dysfunction aka gangster rap. All the other jealous rapper of that era weren't remotely making money or getting the same fame has Hammer gladly joined forces with the industry to hate on Hammer and label him corny because he didn't cuss or promote negativity.

Nobody ever questioned his dancing, it was just that his rapping was kind of weak. It's really just that he came along at a time where gangster rap was taking over. If he had come out 5 years earlier there wouldn't have been a problem.
