Yep. I saw it when it aired, too. This was must-see. Hammer was coming. We all knew he was. It's one thing to see it on RUclips, but those of us who were there or see moments like this happen live, we know there's nothing like it. Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and etc, they're only trying to copy what Arsenio did. They can't.
He used to get his dancers out running every morning at 5 am. They would run for miles and work out. He said on Oprah show that they and he need to be in shape to dance full out a whole show.
Cassic joint, Hammer always killed the dance moves. And he always rhymes every bar. Check out Pumps and a bump They put me in the mix 2 legit 2 quit Let’s get it started Pray Hammer is a legend I don’t care what no one says 80s baby stand up.🇯🇲💯✊🏾
At the time, people crowned him as a rapper, but in retrospect he was really rhyming! Especially in comparison to today's rappers. He’s a far truer representation of true hip hop, than most of hip hop today. Dare I say, people were so upset because he helped set the tone for what would be considered hip hop. Before this we called this music rap.
I remember an interview- the reason why he and the group was soooo energetic because they use to run/job 5 miles almost 5 days a week. He couldn’t stop
This is what it was like in the 80's and 90's. This was how those of us from this generation stayed in shape. One of the takeaways from that time, was the level of commitment the artists had in making sure they put on a helluva show that left you talking about it for days. And there were very few that lip synced. Anyways great reaction. If you want to see another great performance. Check out Bobby Brown's 1990 performance Live at the AMA's🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
@@michaelasay8587 Bobby didn't do anything to Whitney that she hadn't already done to herself. So, if your implying that he turned her onto drugs think again. Whitney was doing drugs long before Bobby entered her life💯
I remember this! Hammer was on Arsenio a couple of times. In middle school I used to tape his performances (on vhs) and re-watch over and over to learn the dances. Talk about some great cardio 😂
MC Hammer is the first rapper with a diamond certification album and the first rapper win the International Album of the Year... MC Hammer is from Oakland, California...🔥🔥🎵🎵
My first ever concert I attended was the Budweiser Superfest... MC Hammer, Guy, Kool Moe Dee, and New Edition! Hammer always put on a good show! Mannnnnnn...great memories! This takes me back!!
Budweiser Superfest wow I haven't heard that in a minute !!! I remember HI Five was on that but had to be replaced because they were underage at the time
Shawnty you loved his dancing in this video, wait til you see him get down in his multi Platinum song “Can’t Touch This” with the infamous Hammer Pants. His first three videos off that first album are classic dance moves
This was the era when it was cool to dance and the ladies loved a man loved a man with this energy. As a Oakland native everytime hammer came on the party went up 10x.
This was MUST SEE back in the day. Hammer came out of nowhere and couldn't be denied. Not many if any could follow him in a show. Same for the Arsenio Hall Show. It was the place to be, anyone who was anyone wanted to be on this show. Crazy thing is Johnny Carson & David Letterman(who are late night talk show legends) couldn't help but take notice. Arsenio doesn't get the props he deserves, Arsenio brought THE CULTURE, Black Culture to late night mainstream America
He never stopped. Seeing him live at the Budweiser Superfest at RFK Stadium in the DMV...OoWee!!! Made rappers step up and put on a show instead of walking back & forth holding their crotches. Terrible T dances her butt off!
@@SPLASHGOD575 #1, it’s medicinal. #2, Hammer had one move…cabbage patch with a spin, then a side shimmy. I also think With Ice having the super white head skin with the Mohawk, it accentuated his head movements. But then again, I’m high and might be thinking Jim Carey is a better dancer 😭😭
You're right! MC Hammer is in a category by himself. Natural born entertainer
I saw this when it first aired! He tuned it out! We were so hyped! Arsenio Hall was the best late night talk show!
He sure did, I watched it too dancing in front of the tv
Absolutely

I stayed up to watch it!!! It was a BIG deal
The shape we were in to dance like thjs was crazy... 😂
Hammer was trouble 😂😂😂
Hammer was a machine
He's now 50 plus years old and still can dance. Many of us would like him to do a Las Vegas residency.

I saw Hammer at the Henry J Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland and at the Oakland Coliseum with N.W.A
He wasn't a great rapper but he's definitely a great entertainer
I remember owning some Hammer (parachute) pants back then because of him! He really took the world by storm, and I live in New Zealand!

Um, no. Outside of Michael and Janet when it came to entertainment there were only two that could put on a hell of a show: Mc Hammer and Bobby Brown💯
