At the time, people crowned him as a rapper, but in retrospect he was really rhyming! Especially in comparison to today's rappers. He’s a far truer representation of true hip hop, than most of hip hop today. Dare I say, people were so upset because he helped set the tone for what would be considered hip hop. Before this we called this music rap.
I remember an interview- the reason why he and the group was soooo energetic because they use to run/job 5 miles almost 5 days a week. He couldn’t stop

One of the takeaways from that time, was the level of commitment the artists had in making sure they put on a helluva show that left you talking about it for days.
