Welcome to the world of Dimash! Here is some background info: In this performance, he was 24. He is now 27 and sounds even better. I don't know how that is possible but he does. He is from Kazakhstan. He grew up in a musical family and his parents realized that by the age of 3, he could play anything he heard. He sings classical, pop, folk, opera, pop-opera, world music and rap. He also plays many instruments. He sings in 13 languages. Speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He is learning English and Mandarin. You will see his English improving over the years, he sounds great now. He calls his fans "Dears" because he feels like they are family. He credits them for his success and he is very grateful for them. Quote from him: “They are so devoted and give me so much support! So they are very dear to me. They are like family to me. 👉 This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after this song Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 millions of viewers over night. The next day, bodyguards stood at his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to RUclips... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. But Dimash came, sang and stayed... for the next 3 years in China... but he only finished second in the competition because he's not Chinese (conditions have changed: The next year, Jessie J. won).
👉 A few months later Dimash sang this song here, as a guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the competition 'Slavic Bazaar 2018'. (He himself will no longer participate in competitions.) 🌼🇩🇪

Keep in mind that he sings in many different languages and many different genres! He can also rap! He’s a multi instrumentalist who has been training since the age of 5, he actually started piano when he was 4, then he began his vocal training and education. He’s about to receive his doctorate in Musicology. His Masters degree is in composition and his Bachelor’s degree is in Jazz & contemporary music. He has been classically trained and he still to this day does at least 3 hours per/day doing vocal training with and without a vocal coach depending on where he is around the world. Dimash has one of the largest fandoms in the world with fan clubs in every country in the world with the exception of a couple. One of the most important things you should know about Dimash is what a humble, grounded, kind, compassionate human being he is who absolutely loves & adores his family, his motherland of Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 and his fans whom he calls “Dears” because we are so dear to his heart! Welcome to the world of Dimash! Here is some background info:
In this performance, he was 24. He is now 27 and sounds even better. I don't know how that is possible but he does.
He is from Kazakhstan. He grew up in a musical family and his parents realized that by the age of 3, he could play anything he heard. He sings classical, pop, folk, opera, pop-opera, world music and rap. He also plays many instruments. He sings in 13 languages. Speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He is learning English and Mandarin. You will see his English improving over the years, he sounds great now.
He calls his fans "Dears" because he feels like they are family. He credits them for his success and he is very grateful for them. Quote from him: “They are so devoted and give me so much support! So they are very dear to me. They are like family to me. Just as we love every member of the family, I love and cherish my fans and call them my dears.”
His favorite artist is the great Michael Jackson. He has performed his songs in concert and on tv shows. He also has some of MJs moves. 😄
