Nah, I kinda loved this movie. I went into it knowing nothing about the general vibe or how it was going to play out, as I do with most things because I couldn't care less what people on the internet say. Any piece of media can be found worth in to someone. I kinda loved the goofiness of it. Sadako is a very tragic story, and it was like a breath of fresh air to laugh and enjoy in between all the dread. I loved Ayaka as a main character. It was just fun. People ought to be a little more open to things nowadays. Becoming a cynic with media is just as much as a curse as Sadako. Also huge plus points to this movie for going the virus route. I loved that as someone who loves the novel.
I really like this movie, it's one of my favorites in the series, i had followed the marketing since it's announcement and knew it was more of a comedy than a serious movie, was already very familiar with Takahashi's writing from EX-Aid, it's one of my favorite KR seasons, there's already so many drastically different interpretations of Ring and Sadako since the original book that i'm perfectly ok with it going a more silly route even tho it's my favorite franchise and special interest, it also gave us Sadako's youtube channel which i absolutely love.
Honestly surprised the marketing wasn't bigger, especially here in Japan. I didn't even know about it until I saw a poster just as it was finishing it's theatrical run.
Funny how everyone just forgets that Sadako was resurrected in Rasen (Spiral) and so should be walking around somewhere as flesh and blood person, instead she is always depicted as a ghost again
TBH I thought Sadako vs Kayako was pretty fun even though it got trashed and at the start the description of this one sounded kind of intriguing even played straight. I’m a female scientist and natural skeptic so that instantly resonates with me. IDK this totally works for me, I don’t need it to be dead serious to enjoy ringu. Definitely going to watch it. I just heard ‘bad Ring movie’ without any context.
I can see myself liking this movie. I'm more of a Ju-On "person" than a Ringu "person", so much so that I just watched the originals Ringu 1, 2 and 0 for the first time last year and already don't remember much of them, so I wouldn't be as harsh with it becoming a comedy as I would with Ju-On (then again, I already don't like [White Ghost], [Black Ghost], [Beginning of the End] and [The Final Curse], so another one I don't like wouldn't be anything new. . . which reminds me that 2020 had new entries in both USAian and Japanese ends, hadn't it? I gotta watch then at some point... although I have heard one of them is a netflix thing, and I don't wanna get anywhere near netflix). Anyways, I'm rambling. So thank you for the video, with the title and thumbnail calling it the worst, I didn't think it would be much of a recommendation but rather something to avoid, but you got me interested.
The film I want out of the Ring Franchise is exactly the same film I want out of the Ju-On franchise. Freddy and Sadako versus Jason and Kayako. I don't know how you'd justify it, but waaaant.
@@Minohorse No, I'm talking about the anime/manga by Ryoji Minagawa and Kyoichi Nanatsuki that used to ran on Shonen Sunday and even had an official English release by Viz Media with a Ocean Group dub years ago.

Well.. Sadako vs Kayako was a horror comedy as well. But at least it was entertaining, with a couple of decent scares. This one sucked, plain and simple
I really did not like this one. I was almost on board but it was just fully a parody. If it kind of walked the line between parody and some actual scares I might have liked it since the series is so overdone but it was so bad for me. I do not understand the people that say they like DX, I just cannot understand how. It just felt like a long SNL sketch to me.
@@Stigmatix666 I don't think, it's weird. Gen Z still likes horror, and the kind of comedy they went for, I would think most Gen Z would think was corny.
@@mismismism Of course Gen Z still likes horror, as proven by my kid. But this movie was just pure cringe, and I don't think the current generation would disagree on that. In fact, it made *Sadako vs Kayako* look like a serious horror movie..
Skeptic vs. paranormal supporter... sounds like they drew heavy inspiration from Ring: Saishuushou and Rasen TV here, and the shortened time span for the curse reminds me of the US unofficial Ring rip-off, FearDotCom (2002). Or, again, Rasen TV.
