I'd say that even though Kayako didn't start off as an evil being, once she died, her rage consumed her and made it impossible for her to find any peace, so others would be forced to suffer as well to feel what she does. Because the house limited her hatred, she found a way to be free from her limitations and roam the world spreading as much misery as possible with no more restrictions. I believe that in her mind, she hates that others have what she lacks like love, happiness and peace, but since all she feels is pain, why should they be allowed to feel what she no longer can? Hatred without restraint causes nothing but endless suffering and that can spread very easily like an incurable sickness to others if it’s allowed to dictate one's whole existence, so for this ending, it just makes sense for her character and for the story as a whole to end like this. With her hatred never ending and what her plan truly was to stay a dreadful mystery we can discuss forever, but not truly knowing the full extent of what she's done or what she's still doing now.
@@chanyeol9248 I feel Ju-On: The Curse (2000) is a bit more effective than Ju-On: The Grudge (2002) but Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (2003) on the other hand is disturbingly good and the ending of the film is one of my favourites in the entire franchise, even more effective than all 3 movies before it
someone once asked me if i'd like to be a famous actor, i said no, i'd like to be that guy you've seen in all the movies but don't for the life of you kow who he is, the guy that can walk right by you, and just never be recognized, because that man, has a long and varied career as an actor and will ALWAYS get work, he might not get the big parts or a lot of money, but he has enough to live comfortably, do what he loves, and as he gets older, due to a lack of type casting he can play a bunch of different characters lol
Doug Jones comes to mind as this person.. Everyone has seen him in something but he is almost always in make up as a monster or other worldly being so no one sees his face to recognize him as one of the most famous horror actors to date.
I always question why it wouldn't be the husband who ended up haunting the house, being the most tortured of souls out of the whole family, you would think he would be the one you need to worry about.
Well I think, its because Takeo was supposed to be an abusive controlling husband and well, Kayako was a submissive housewife. So when Kayako died all of her pent up anger was released and so as a result she became the dominant ghost that ended up driving the curse in the house. Takeo also died in rage though since he was paranoid about Kayako cheating on him and he snapped when he found the journal. I also think Kayako has the ability to hold on to the spirits of the people that she kills like the schoolgirls in Ju-on The Grudge almost like their will is replaced with Kayakos. Whenever a family moves in to the Saeki house it seems like a lot of the time but not always, the husband ends up being influenced by Takeo's spirit and it was Kayako who killed him in the T.V. movie, my theory is that Kayako is the one who is controlling or pulling the strings making them go through the samethings she did.
Kayako’s spirit killed Takeo in vengeance, while he is the originator of the Grudge curse, she is the most powerful. However, his spirit has claimed others, too, namely Rika in Ju On The Grudge and Detective Nakagawa in The Grudge (American).
Oh, I remember those shorts stories, they were uploaded on youtube when the site begun, and some title them as "japanese ghost footage" and stuff like that.
I feel like in the Juon: The Curse 1 and Juon: The Grudge 1 Kayako seems more or less gentle and in despair(?) In Juon: The Curse 1 Kayako has empathy for Kobayashi with her calling out his name before killing him. In Juon: The Grudge at the ending scene Kayako looks like she's reaching out for help or trying to warn Rika. She looked desperate somehow. I can't ever really get that image of her out of my head. Especially the look in her eyes. And then in the second counterparts of the Curse and Grudge she's just ruthless. I find that quite interesting.
The American remake just has the ghost kid cat meowing without context just like in the haunting remake with the actress saying "who has my hand?" Out of nowhere
Seriously! How can Juon NOT scare you? I get that’s it’s fictional but NO way you wouldn’t be frightened if it was real. We’d ALL die because that curse is deadly. Even if you never enter the house if you contact someone who did you’re dead. And kayako is known for breaking ppls bodies in hand
This film series terrified my little brother so much he doesn't have a TV in his room to this day. As for me, I like the idea of a curse you can never get rid of. Very creepy and almost a bit Lovecraftian - the bad thing is inexplicable, it's there, it wants to hurt you because it's noticed you, and *you can never, ever escape from it.* I also prefer to call 4444...4 "Many 4's" because it's very fun to say. Many 4's, Many 4's, Many 4's... :3
you'd sell out too if you happen to be a pretty obscure director who just happened to strike gold in two low budget films and will probably never see the same kind of success for the rest of your career
Great, now I want a Ju-on and Kamen Rider crossover. What's next? Ringu and Super Sentai? Also, I know you were probably joking, but Kill Bill and Battle Royale are both masterpeices. Fight me.
Great video, you've really got me excited to watch these movies. Though I've been looking for the fan edit of the first two movies and couldn't really find anything online. If you have a link or something it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass it my way, thanks for the consistently quality content.
I got the fan-edit off a private tracker. It unfortunately doesn't look like he uploaded it anywhere else, but if you want to make the edit yourself just cut out the first two segments of The Curse 2 and attach the rest to the end of The Curse 1.
I really love the first ju on, the grudge i find it a better than the american remake. This bitch scared me so bad as a child when the commercials would show up, “MOM SHUT OFF THE TV AAGHHHH”
And woth the JU-ON reboot came Sadako vs Kayako, Japan's equivalent of Freddy vs Jason. Spoiler alert, it does not go well. Sadako pulls Toshio into the TV and destroys Kayako's body before the latter reforms abd destroys Sadako's tape. This leads to both surviving and the exorcist deciding as a last resort that merging the two curses/onryō into one was a good idea to get rid of them. It fails horribly, creating "Sadakaya".
the american remakes are very good at least the first and second are very creepy and scary the third one was very disappointing save the ending starting a new cycle with a new curse introducing Kayako's younger sister as a vengeful spirit after being murdered in a more gruesome manner than her sister which makes her more terrifying than Kayako in my opinion.
do you go into the three us films? or did sony flag you? I think I already know your opinion but still would love a video. Also, planning to see the new film this Friday?
Yeah Sony flagged the US Films, and just to give you a hint as to my opinion on them the video is titled "Ju-On: The Bad". I will absolutely be seeing the new Grudge in theaters because it looks terrible and like it has nothing to do with the rest of franchise. Probably not going to pay full price for it.

Ringu is a better movie than Ju-on. Ju-on Grudge never felt like a movie but a collection of short clips. Ringu however, has a great story and actually cares about the plot.
battle royale was intresting worth a watch a total gore fest just think the hunger games just much better. basicly hunger games with japanese high school students on an island brutally slaughtering each other.
