Hate flying, went on a flight from Atlanta -> Chicago -> Dublin. Aer Lingus however was a different story. The whole vibe of the captain, crew and the bombastic green colored A330 made me very comfortable. The pilots made the flight the smoothest I’ve ever had. I was sitting next to the wing, 1 row behind the emergency exit, but the noise from the engine was not irritating or annoyingly loud. In flight entertainment was great, and the map feature and real time speed tracking system for passengers to view was fascinating. Aer Lingus definitely conquered my fear of flying, and I love flights on the A330 regardless.
Flew them on my trip to Europe last year. Flew Dublin to Berlin and that flight was whatever, but their international flight I took from sfo in the U.S. to dub and back was great and the A330 interior was more modern and updated than their A320’s. Was fairly priced and you get everything you’d expect from a full service airline.
You'll now fly to terminal 3 in Chicago instead of the old terminal 5. Terminal 3 is for domestic flights and flights from Ireland are considered domestic. It saves a lot of time and hassle dealing with immigration, customs and such stateside. All you do is get off the plane get your bags and walk out the door, you don't even go through passport control. It's a great advantage especially if you're pressed for time or you have to make a connecting flight.
I’m just going to also point out that Aer Lingus is only full service on transatlantic flights. On European flights Aer Lingus take a more standard service.
@@jerrybarnes6611 Jerry they are a full service🤣 if you seriously compare it to emirates or qatar… Maybe look up what a full service is before commenting. You get a free meal, free drinks, am I missing something else? You do realise I’m cabin crew for them right🤣
I truly believe that using a service, whatever it may be, is a personal and non-transferable event. Everyone will have a different perception. I can be amazed by a company's service and the person next to me may be hating the same service. Perhaps there are extreme exceptions, such as Singapore Airlines or Asiana, companies that always receive good reviews. Still, everyone needs to try the product and have their opinion. This logically does not take away the value of vlogger reviews.
I agree. And even for myself it's hard to judge an airline based on a single flight. Nevertheless I hope that I am able to be informative and entertaining with my content.
Seat pockets are making a comeback on the aer lingus a320s… the one on your plane was sewn shut as some sort of an experiment to save time and money on cleaning (a stupid decision imo)

A carton of cigarettes €60.00 is actually cheap when you consider a pack of cigarettes in Ireland is about €17.00. So ten pack in a carton would cost you €170.00 in the shop in Dublin compared to €60.00 on the flight.
I checked this month flight status from LAX-Dublin and there were 3 cancellations so far. My boss had his flight cancelled and other people too from Dublin to East Coast and he was very disappointed, not again. What do you think?
Being Irish and living in Manchester U.K. myself, with extended family still living in Ireland, our national airline Aer Lingus has in recent years adopted the business model of its main competitor Ryanair - this has been a disappointment and for many of us Irish abroad, this is a matter of national pride that this situation is rectified as soon as possible, especially given the costs of tickets - for these fares, I would have expected a business class offering or higher on larger aircraft types at certain times of the year and a more generous luggage allowance 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
Yes but recent years have been record breaking financially for Aer Lingus, which is great to see! Especially considering they were struggling around the time of the IAG merger...
Well basically the air conditioner in that airline will only work if you go in the back of the plane because there is no air conditioner in the front of the plane according to my mom and so I was questioning whether aer lingus is better than delta due to the fact that there is no air conditioner for the front row of the aer lingus airlines.
Aer Lingus is no longer an Irish airline but many of us still fly it for sentimental reasons. Bad idea. In the last couple of months two long haul flights were cancelled at short notice. Leg room is diabolic for long flights. Food is crap. Yes, you can't judge an airline from just a couple of flights but over years you can see how service and quality have gone down. As someone mentions here they're trying to reach bottom like Ryanair and seem well on the way.
Completely agree the flights on the new transatlantic planes feels like you are flying on an inter European flight. The leg room is bad and the seats are quite cramped.
One question: My carry-on under 10kg is included with my flight. Is there something I have to do at the checkin desk ahead of time, as I've read? I don't plan on bringing checked baggage (am basically backpacking it). Good to see a positive review of Aer Lingus, am flying them this June from JFK-MAN.
No it was 6€ for a single pack (20 cigarettes) not for a whole carton. In the duty free of other "expensive" countries like the UAE or Singapore I'm only paying 25-30€ for a Malboro carton containing 200 cigarettes hahaha so I was quite shocked that in AerLingus duty free a single pack is 6€ which is more expensive than the regular price in most other countries😅😅
