The glamorous Los Angeles Lakers had won 3 consecutive championships. But ask any Laker fan on why the 4th never happened, 2 things will come into mind: Horry's in and out miss on a potential game winner and the Laker's lethargic play in the 2nd half of Game 6 that advanced the San Antonio Spurs into the WCF and ultimately the championship. What people forget about Horry's heartbreaker in Game 5 of the 2003 Western Conference Semifinals was Kobe Bryant's all around brilliance that set up the stage.
It appeared as if the San Antonio Spurs would run the Los Angeles Lakers out of the building who exploded out of the gate. The Lakers were 0-5 in the Spur's new home, the SBC Center. No matter what the Spurs did, nothing was wrong tonight. Tony Parker was unstoppable as Tim Duncan dominated the paint. The Laker offense was smothered by the Spur defense while every shot that went up in the Spur offense went through the net. The Spurs put past memories behind them as they led by as many as 25 in the 3rd quarter. But one roadblock stood in their way - Kobe Bryant. Bryant was not ready to give up Game 5 that easily.
Bryant sparked his team by knocking down 2 threes to end the 3rd quarter to bring the game to 16. Then it was Kobe time in the 4th quarter. Sensing that his team needed him more than ever, Bryant took the game into his own hands. In the 4th quarter, Bryant either scored or assisted on 7 of the 11 baskets by the Lakers. Bringing the crowd into disbelief, Bryant hit every crucial basket when his team needed it to cap off an important run. He led the Lakers to an 18-5 run to bring the game within 4 points, 90-86. He hit another three point shot to bring the game to 95-91. After Shaq connected on a three point play and Stephen Jackson made 1 of 2 free throws, the stage was set for Horry's potential game winner. It was only a 2 point game and Bryant had faked out Bowen in the corner. But instead of taking the three point shot, he unselfishly passed it out to the open Robert Horry who had a line of postseason game winners a mile long. He could've easily taken the game winner himself given how hot he was in the 4th quarter. But this time Horry's shot went in - and out again, giving the Spurs the 96-94 win. The Lakers never recovered from that miss in Game 6. The Spurs proceeded to blow out the Lakers in the next game giving them the series victory and the NBA championship.
Probably the most heartbreaking miss I've ever watched live.
+Franklin Clinton yep
horry should have made one more pass....fisher was wide open with 4 seconds to go when horry shot that....ball game lakers 4 peat....c
razkable horry is a better 3 pt shooter
Simon Sun its correct. This was the best come back game ever see
ruined our 4-peat
Damnnn Kobe is jst so cool in the clutch....Most people think Clutch is the last second shot but clutch is all da big shots
this is one of my favorite kobe games of all time, he makes so many amazing shots!
If that shot went down it would've been a whole different series
True, they may had won 4 straight
Funny how he missed that shot but made it at the same place on a court in Detroit for the Spurs in the finals two years later.
Tony parker clealry made him miss by contesting closing out so hard ..Horry should ot tried to jump into him mid air...
@Boggie Illuminati confirmed
The following season Horry would sign with the Spurs and win 2 more championships. Who would of thought
well he let the spurs down in 2004 so...he gave the spurs the 2003 title here
@@luisarreguin2202 Horry played horribly in 2004 playoffs and was dominated in the 03 playoffs by Duncan
I've said it many times...but Horry's miss was the symbolic end of the Lakers' dynasty. There isn't a person who watched that game who didn't think that shot was going in. The Lakers steal that game, it would've been just like 2004 was when the Spurs were dead men walking for that Gm 6. Instead, they got their reprieve and put the Lakers away. This was the last stand. 2004 was not the true representation of the 3x champs...too many pieces were gone. This game...that moment, that was the end of the dynasty.
Totally true, Horry scored in last year against the Kings....
***** WTF are you talking about? You don't beat teams three years in a row because of luck. And nothing you said has anything to do with my point. I'm saying Horry's miss was basically the end of the Lakers Shaq/Kobe dynasty. Damn...reading comprehension man
The 3 biggest "what if" in game moments over the last 17 years in Lakers History are:
1. This
2. Kobe's 3 that hit back-iron at the end of game 1 vs Dallas in the 2011 western conference semifinals
3. The end of game 6 vs the Suns in 2006. One rebound away from playing the clippers (THE CLIPPERS) for a spot in the western conference finals.
This moment is so fascinating because of the consequences. 4 peat on the line, and first team since Magic's Lakers to make 4 straight NBA finals. You have to find it plausible that the Lakers had a serious shot at winning the ring that year. They wouldve manhandled New Jersey, not really sure about Dallas but that was the year the Mavs gave up a 26 point lead in the 4th quarter to LA. Regardless, I think Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot captured my feelings 100% spot on. The end of a dynasty :( The worst part: he made the same exact shot 2 years later vs detroit. SAME EXACT SHOT. Game 6 really just was a formality. Seeing dfish and kobe crying at the end of the bench was unreal on live TV.
Also, do shaq and kobe reconcile if this shot goes in and LA wins a 4th ring? Because Kobe definitely passed up the shot at the game winning 3 (and what looks like a serious shot at a foul given that Bruce basically jumped in the air). Instead, he chose to make the right "basketball play" and pass to a wide-open Horry. He gets knocked a lot for being a ballhog, but when it comes time to winning, he's (usually) thinking above his individual stats (although game 2 vs Magic in 2009 Finals is a notable exception, along with game 7 2006 vs Suns).
Paras Kumar I think the 2011 team was on borrowed time. Dallas still wins that series...it just goes a little longer. I actually think they would've beaten the Clippers in '06, crazy as that seems. As individual moments, I agree with you. I do think a bigger what if in terms of the bigger picture is what if the Lakers held on against Boston in Gm 4 of the '08 Finals. Maybe it just goes seven and they get smoked both games in Beantown, but they really blew a great chance.
Paras Kumar Gotta include the Chris Paul trade on that one.
If Horry made that shot they likely would have had a 4peat. The 2003 Mavs had a front court with no chance of matching Shaq on defense and LA swept the Nets in 2002.
if horry made that shot they likely 5 peat.....but don't count out duncan winning game 6 and 7 in 2003....he was the mvp....but maybe his teamates are demoralized after losing that lead in game 5 so they lose?....kobe and shaq wouldnt ignore each other in the 2004 finals if they won in 2003....if they won 4 straight 2004 would have been theirs...shaq after they lost in 2003 was already planning on leaving in 2004 and kobe wanted him gone ...this loss ended their dynasty
Nobody Touches Jordan The Mavs had no frontcourt to deal with shaq but the lakers had literally no answer for Nash and Dirk at that time. Those Lakers teams achilles heel was defending the pick and roll, and the pick and roll was what that Mavs team excelled at better than anyone in the league. Had Ginobili not crashed into Dirk's knee that year, the Mavs are likely the champs. Said all that to say don't be so sure the Lakers would've 4peated if that shot went in.
If that shot had gone in, there are no guarantees that LA would have beaten SA in games 6 or 7. But make no mistake, had the Lakers advanced, the Mavs had a slim chance of beating LA. The regular season games give us a good indication in this case of how this matchup would have gone and LA even without hitting their stride early in the season managed to beat Dallas once and once they did their hit their stride, beat the Mavs both times late in the season. The only chance they would have had to steal the series from LA is someone else other than Nash and Nowitzki going off, specifically I am looking at you Nick Van Exel to pull off what you did against Seattle in 1995 again.
I doubt the mavs would've beaten the lakers had they played in the 2003 western conference finals. The mavs don't even beat the kings that year if Chris Webber doesn't get hurt and they needed the full 7 games to get it done even after he got hurt!
@@blakecombs1219 The Lakers def had answer for someone like Nash. Do you forget that D-Fish is a solid player, especially on the defensive end?
Watching Kobe on this one as a forgotten performance from him makes me realize how underrated he is historically and in this era where they just put him amongst the greats and not above them when he should be put among Jordan, Chamberlain, and Baylor. Damn.
Only player better than kobe is jordan
Drink Me fuck off your on every single Kobe video talking shit
IVORIAN KING Kobe’s better than Jordan
Kobe was hitting some incredible 3"s in this game!!! But he should of drove the ball and went for the tie!!!
Anyone that don't got Kobe 5 didn't watch him play anyone that don't got him at least top 10 didn't watch basketball
Kobe unselfishness and determination nearly led that comeback win.
Bruce Bowen was supposed to be " the Kobe Stopper " LMAO
in 2003 kobe was hard to stop
wasn't that Ruben Patterson?
Kobe shoulda drew that foul at the end
Bowen would always get torched by Kobe lmao. 2008 wcf was my favorite series he destroyed Bowen
@@MrSkeleton131 Patterson got destroyed by Kobe too
Wow, I don't think I've ever heard Marv Albert scream as loud as he did when Horry missed the three pointer
That stood out to me too! Marv Albert's passion for when he did those Laker games in that era was simply amazing!!!! Such a damn heartbreak watching this knowing what would have happened had he made that shot.
HORRY MAKES THAT SHOT..4-PEAT WAS GUARANTEED. ..BUT IT TOOK SO MUCH OUT OF THEM WHEN HE MISSED
Right and I suppose in 2011 if Kobe made that game winning 3 in game 1 against Dallas than Lakers would've 3 peated.
+Milo Tucker you mean if Fisher took the shot Lakers 4 peat
+Franklin Clinton nope
Landon Smith yea they would
No way these guys would 4 peat, cause the lakers were worn down and tired and their bench players were getting older at this point, i bet mavs would have beaten the lakers in 2003 if the lakers were to beat the spurs.
Damn Kobe was a beast
@elecTR1C323
You've truly shown your young age. Horry hit clutch shots not only with San Antonio and with the Lakers, but in his early days with Houston. He was an essential piece of the Rockets back-to-back.
What a player Kobe was, the whole game was the spurs crushing the lakers but this man kept them alive. Funny how the Spurs almost didn't celebrate the victory, I think they kinda felt as Horry's shot had gone in and they lost an incredible game.
I don't think it would've been a 4peat though, Duncan and Parker were unstoppable through the whole series and game 6.
One of Kobes best games imo. Didnt allow his team to quit
this game proved why kobe is a top 10 player ever..he willed his team when pretty much no one else could all time vs a great team...
Its amazing how the Lakers-Spurs series against each other in 2003 and 2004 were so similar to each other.
Both were second round series. Spurs had homefield both times. Spurs both times took a 2-0 lead. Lakers came back to tie it both times. A Classic nail-biting game 5 in both series. And then both series ended in LA in game 6.
That shot was NEVER going in. Why? Robert Horry was shooting .005 from three in the playoffs that year. Not 40%, not 30%, not 20%... not 10% .... he was shooting 5% from 3PT. He shot 30% FG. And 50% FT. He missed 26 straight from downtown in the playoffs. Nobody talks about this but that's the reason there was no 4-peat.
It's Robert North though. He could be 0-1,000,000 and I'd still think his clutch three is going in.
Horry even!
It went in and out. You make it seem like he airballed it or something. But as I pointed out, it was the symbolic end of the dynasty for the Lakers. They had SO MANY situations in those three years where a role player like Horry made a clutch shot and it just didn't happen. Sports has a way of organically letting you know when the show is over. I knew we were done after that.
None of that matters. You'd be a fool not to give Horry that kinda look every time, I don't care what his % for the playoffs had been.
he did nt hit a three vs the spurs...he did not hit one after game 5 vs the t wolves..he hit 0 in the first 4 games of that series too and he missed 12 straight to start the playoffs and 17 straight to end them....he made 2 of 3 though at one point lol
Kobe crossover at 1:34 mark on Ginobili was wicked lol
oh man I remember this game...as a Spurs fan I almost had a heart attack..I tell you what looking back I wish the Lakers completed the comeback. This felt like a game 7 because you knew whoever won this series was taking the title (Dallas and NJ were just speed bumps)
Kerr's reaction at the end said it all. On the "dodging a bullet" scale they were Vincent and Jules in Pulp Fiction when that guy fired a whole clip at them and missed every shot lol
lmao, facts
Duncan's face was even more telling. He couldn't BELIEVE Horry missed that shot.
Hell yeah they were Vincent and Jules in Pulp Fiction.
fuck kobe was on fire man. some of those shots were just amazing. i didn't think it was wrong for him to pass. i mean it's a wide open robert horry.
simpsonsrock06 it was the right play
Kobe never passed again
Holy Crap as a Spurs fan i thank god. That one shot would have been a 4peat. It could have changed spurs history.
Damn that says a lot coming from a Spurs fan because honestly it was the cold hard truth. I know damn well in my heart that shot goes in the 4peat is on lockdown but never heard a Spurs fan say it like you stated.
Fuck the San Antonio Spurs!! Lakers have eliminated the Spurs in 2001,2002,2004,2008.
@@paletangitau1247 don't forget about the Spurs sweeping the Lakers in 2013 hater.
@@luisarreguin2202 when kobe tore his achilles lol an the team was old as tits lol
@@rambod5 true that but let's be honest lakers still weren't winnjng the series with Kobe. Not with that core they had
The Most Impresive Lakers Team Comeback Game Ever
nope. 29-point comeback vs Dallas in 2002 and against Portland in Game 7 of the 2000 WCF both superior
Even the Spurs were stunned with that miss. Tim Duncan said that when it popped out he froze and didn't know what to do. The Spurs victory was bittersweet.
the spurs were used to losing to la...they were underdogs
Who’s here after the Bill Simmons pod?
fox being hurt was why la lost this series...webber getting hurt cost the kings a chance dirk getting hurt cost the mavs..theres a case to be made the spurs were the 4th best team in the west that year...this year reminds me of the 2015 playoffs where like the spurs the warriors caught all the breaks ..in 2005 the sonics were a shot away from taking the spurs 7 without 2 of its 4 best players and another key bench player out for the series in 2017 kawhi got hurt in 2018 cp3 in 2019 kd and klay in 2016 green got suspended which changed the finals in 2012 rose got hurt Westbrook in 2013 in 2010 perkins got hurt in 2009 ming and t mac got hurt same for kg in 08 bynum was out and ariza was hurt in 07 hughes got hurt amare was out in 06 so who knows in 05 wade got hurt and the brawl happened in 04 so we will never know if that pacers team could of won it all...my point is every year things happen that change the outcome of a title...fisher's shot should not have counted in 04 plus sam and hudson were hurt in the west finals...we need to stop looking at titles as the end all be all...we legit could have different title winners in 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2012 2013 2015 2016 2017 2018 and 2019...2011 and 2014 seems like the only healthy playoff runs since 03...
@Miguel Soto-Rios That was 2007 and I still think the Spurs win that series.
And then 2 years after, coming from a pass from Ginobili(same spot where Kobe was) and then shooting it also on the same spot, he makes it. As a Lakers fan, you just have to wish that he missed the Spurs shot and hit this one.
LMAO! I feel you bro!
I cant believe how much disrespect kobe gets this man played his heart out to get them back in this game, made some unbelievably tough shots !
My childhood!!!! Spurs and Lakers always were going at it!
Damn, I remember this game. This was the turning point which began the Spurs' reign as championship contenders. Look at the Spurs bench when Horry misses, it's like they thought they were done, and when it rimmed out there wasn't even a sigh of relief, it seemed like they lost the game. Shows how persistent LA were until that shot.
You see this shit? Watch Kobe against the Spurs, and watch LeBrick against the Spurs. Stop the comparisons. LeBron will never be as offensively skilled as Kobe, stick to passing the BUCK and let your teammates carry you LeFlop.
I can't blame Kobe that after this season he doesn't pass the ball anymore to a teammate for a last shot. He did his best to lead a comeback then on the crucial moment he did the right play and pass the ball to Horry and Horry missed. Ever since then, Kobe made sure he took the last shot... Make or Miss, as long as he is the one taking it he can live with the result.
not true
Until the artest assist 2010 finals game 7
Lol
@@TaybeenTrill248that wasn’t the last shot though. That put them up 4
DODGED A HUGE BULLET THERE, MY HEART NEARLY FELL from this game, then it was beating again after another beer! I still remember that night fully.
Symbolically in 2005 Horry saved the Spurs in that very spot in Game 5 of the finals!! In a way he redeemed himself and was the reason they won the title that year
he won the spurs the 2003 and 2005 and 2007 titles he cost them in 2004 and sorta 2006
This game ended the dynasty.
I knew it was over after that Horry miss. that was the icing on the cake for the Spurs to beat the Lakers in the series. I knew the Lakers wouldn't four peat
This was one of Horey's rare misses with the game on the line.
I missed this game, twin tower era of Spurs and Kobe and Shaq duo of Lakers
If that shot went in, guaranteed 4-peat for the Lakers.
Because there's no way Dallas and New Jersey can stop Shaq alone and an even better Kobe Bryant.
This is one of the if not best game you uploaded. It is rare, yet classic.
Great job.
Bowen was a sophomore here. He defended a good Kobe here but in '08 he just can't stop Kobe as a Prime and MVP.
We would’ve four peated if Robert horry made that
i love how shaq doesn't even make an effort to to foul robinson when he grabs that last rebound.
Shaq's my guy, but...damn...
Lakers fan. This series was the final. I was 100% sure Horry’s shot was going in. Horry spoiled us.
Ironically, Horry would stand in the exact same spot in game 5 of the 2005 finals against the pistons as a member of the Spurs & drill a 3 pointer in OT
Not having Rick Fox for this series was a big blow too...def would’ve been a 4-peat had that shot gone in! What if....
thats what la gets though for not only rellying on old man brian shaw still but not also bringing in someone for samaki walker who was washed that year to help horry at pf minutes wise and shaq at center with his injury and no wing depth to help them with their big man inside issues despite knowing that fox was aging and kobe was playing too many minutes and d fish and shaq were getting worse by 2003...la kinda messed up cause in 2002 they got lucky due to refs and horry and thought that starting lineup was going to carry them another season...it did not...remember in 2002 la did not use their bench much...meaning fisher fox horry for role players had a lot of minutes on their bodies that season and playoffs so going into 2002-2003 with shaq out they had to play a lot more then they wanted and their bench sucked in 2002 and 2003....the roster kept getting worse..luckily devean george developed or else they really would of had issues in 2003 and 2004....like they got rid of a.c. green who helped horry a lot and they lost ron harper who helped fisher out a lot in 2001 due to his injury plus horrace grant tyronn lue isaiah rider obviously glen rice but he was a necessary loss and before that eddie jones nick van exel and mike penberthy for no reason but kept bums like mark madsen samaki walker around for some reason and pre 2002 devean george and guys like greg foster or 2001 slava took a roster spot from possible wings they could of had for the future...la made some mistakes with their roster it felt like as the 6 some of shaw shaq horry fisher kobe fox played together since 1999 and were older by 2003 and 5 of them played together since 1997...and george was a rookie in 1999-2000 so he barley played
Shaq and Kobe were bloody amazing together despite their off court issues.
It's an unfortunate miss but nobody not even Horry is going shoot 100% on clutch shots. Lakers don't threepeat without him. Losing Horry hurt the Lakers in 2004 because Malone was hurt.
Lakers could have used more depth with Fox hurt Devean George was just not a good substitute.
Exactly the Lakers had no big men besides Shaq in the 2004 Finals. People always forget that Horace Grant was also injured on the bench.
Both Spurs and the Lakers had lucky breaks in 2003 and 2004. Spurs escaped because of Horry's in and out miss and in 04 the Lakers escaped because of Fisher's 0.4 second shot. Also, May 13, was the same day both of these things happened.
yup, i remember that, but this one was a heart-breaker, the shot rattles out. All Lakers vs Spurs games from 2000 - 2004 were classics
To say that Kobe made the wrong decision by passing to an open teammate who was known for hitting clutch shots in late game situations is to not know anything about basketball.
Looking at 10:10 at the end. Can you REALLY question why Kobe doesn't like passing the rock now?
Do you know exactly how clutch robert horry was throughout his entire nba career? Apparently not, but Kobe made the smart play passing it to big shot rob
robert horry's career was all about clutch shots...why do u think they called him 'big shot bob'? also he made a similar shot the year before against sacramento, and all the teams he's played on he's made clutch shots for them when they desperately needed them. kobe passing to him was the better option, he had a clean shot but just got a little unlucky
el84oro Robert horry was not clutch his whole career 96-99 hit struggled with his shot.
robbereal1982 very true, but the idea of clutch isn't necessarily about hitting any and every big shot......when a team wins, fans, pundits and teammates remember the big shots than they do the numerous misses, especially if those shots have been key to championships, and not just regular season games. nobody shoots close to 100 percent, its more about putting the ball in the hands of someone who u know isn't scared to hit or miss, and the person has that same confidence in himself as well
+robbereal1982 Horry was in a major slump in 03.
Robert Horry miss or Tim Thomas make?Which one hurts most?
RIP Kobe, clutchest NBA player of all time despite Phil and Tex.
@CavsLBJ4Life Well I dont take anything away from the Spurs that year. One of the biggest reasons why they won was Manu Ginobilli. He was the biggest x factor since the Spurs now finally had some athletic guards.
Had that Horry shot gone in, the Lakers foSHO would’ve won the series in 6. Then they would have battled the Mavs in the WCF then face the Nets in the FINALS and possibly sweep them again for their first FOUR PEAT!!!!
You know the Spurs got lucky this year. That's a shot Robert Horry has always made throughout his career. Had that gone in and Lakers go up 3-2, we definitely would have put them away at home, go on to beat Dallas in the Conference Finals, and then beat the Nets again just like the year before for a 4-peat. The next year may have even gone different too.
4 peat?? It should have never even been a 3 peat (2002 Game 6 WCF)
tipiforcornholio It WAS a 3 peat. Don't do that Cornball revisionist history BS.
Damn, That's called a momentum killer, that goes in, Lakers ride high going into Staples and close it out.
Spurs were the best team, after them, Lakers would've killed anyone else.
That Horry shot killed me. i was only 10 when it happened but i remember hot wanting to eat or go to school, it just killed me as a die hard Laker fan. IT's even hard for me to watch this.
Amazing..thats the same shot horry MADE in 05 vs the pistons
anyone here in 2020 because of the Book on Basketball 2.0 pod?
I watched that replay over and over and still think that should have gone down.
Horry gave us the title in 2002, Horry killed us in 2003.
If Horry's in-n-out 3 point shot goes in we win the series and probably go on to win our 4th championship in a row.
why fisher did not take the last shot in this game like he did a year later
yep
cause horry hit the shot against the blazers in game 6 in 2000 to save that series and the game winner in 2002 against the kings in the western finals in game 4....to save their season.... he was wide open and the master of clutch...it just rimmed out....everyone misses and fisher was shooting horrible all post season .....
razkable um the Lakers loss game 6 vs the Blazers in 2000 they were up 3-1
I remember this like it was yesterday. I wish Horry would have made that 3. Had he done that we would have had 4 rings in a row. All the REAL Laker fans remember this game.....
The only time Horry missed lol, THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!
CLASSIC game. This game ruinedmy Lakers 4-peat. Respect to POP and TD, top five players all time imo
ended phil's 25 series win playoff streak which will never be matched again...
what if man.. when i see that play i also wish kobe had gone for the foul ugh
I saw that shyt going in and my heart dropping, I just visioned it right away... Damn that ending one of the best EVER IMO, that last second shot and Horry shooting it, he has done that so many times. Thank GOD this time he missed it, if not the series is over going back to LA down.
The missed three by Horry represented the Lakers chance at a 4th straight championship, because had be made that, the Lakers would have won the series and the Championship.
So close!
What a game!
That miss prevented the first four-peat since the 60s.
3rd. wow what a great game!! i hope this doesnt repeat itself. Thanks for the upload.
Who would of thought the very next season Robert Horry would leave the Lakers and sign with the Spurs and win 2 more championships
Medvedenko was hitting some clutch jumpers for the Lakers, nice 13 points
Can't blame Horry it's obvious the universe was not gonna allow a team in the modern era to 4 peat
I really think that this shot decided the '03 title. if the Lakers make it, they probably close out the Spurs in game 6 or 7, and go on to beat the inexperienced Mavs and the overmatched Nets for a 4-peat
ugh.....brings back horrific memories...hurts then...hurts now...
Horry hits that shot, Lakers easily would have won their 4th that year. Spurs were the only team that year that had a chance against us.
If Robert Horry hit's his Game Winning Attempt, Lakers up 3-2, could close out the Series at home. If they were to win against the Mavericks in the WCF is another thing, but they certainly could have beaten the Nets in the Finals. If he hits this, the chance for the 4Peat is there, if Malone doesn't get injured in 2004, 5Peat arguably. Who knows if Shaq would have left with a Chase for the 6th Ring, and that with Kobe's Prime coming up. They really could have been a dynasty.
A lot of what ifs BUT you had something there....doesn't sound crazy at all to see it ending up like that. And when ever will a team be gutting it out for a 4PEAT??? Let alone more than that...Damn makes me so upset.
KOBE IS THE BEST ONE ON ONE PLAYER.EVEN THOUGH HE'S LOST A STEP, AND NOT THE SAME PLAYER LIKE HERE.HE STILL LEARNED TO ADJUST HIS PLAY WITH HIS AGE AND NAGGING KNEE INJURIES.
As soon as Horry took that shot everyone in the building and watching knew it was going in. He had just made so many of those shots you assumed he would never miss in those situations. If he hits that shot there is no doubt in my mind the Lakers win that series and win a 4th straight title.
There was a certain sense of invincibility and inevitability when it came to that team. No matter how grim the situation looked there would always be some unforeseen circumstances that would allow them to win. That died when that Horry shot didn’t go down.
Man, I know the lakers lost this game, but every time Horry shot goes up, im thinking its gonna go in.
If Robert Horry's game winning shot goes in Lakers win 4th. Championship in a row.
Robert Horry's miss was a heart breaker!! First & only time Horry misses game winning clutch shot.
Easily
@Kito343 yup, one lucky shot deserves another. But damn, Lakers thought by beating the Spurs that was the NBA Finals. They forgot they still had to play the Pistons who of course shocked everybody.
Horry missed the shot, but he shot it perfectly just like he always does in the clutch....except this time there was divine intervention. That shit rattled in and out.
20 years ago wow where did the time go
Even though if he made it, Duncan's bank shot was unstoppable and he would probably nail it
Even when Horry misses, it almost goes in anyways!
Spurs were just the better team this season in 2003
i agree
yeah, not just the chemistry, but the bench got better by adding ginobili ang steve kerr
Duncan was league mvp and by every metric had the best season and postseason maybe ever...he was so dominant
..this was his best year...he took it to shaq in game 6..there was no fear...dude was 25 14 and 5 3 and 1 every night
@John Zada III actually they were. They had an 8-2 record against the Lakers in 2003 if you count the regular season and playoffs
of course even if Horry shot went in I could see the Spurs winning in 7
GOAT KOBE, witness the sickness @ 1:35
Damn right, 9 years later. Rip 🐐 Kobe.
The guys you gotta feel for after this game was the two rookies, Kareem Rush and Jannero Pargo..seems like all the other 13 players all had at least one ring before 2003..
This miss is almost as fateful a moment in Laker history as the make against Sacramento in 2002.
Kobe Played 48 Minutes! Wow..
Wow, that went in and out.
I think a piece of my soul died seeing that miss…
As a laker fan, this was the greatest Laker game I have seen. It is the only one in my top ten that is a Laker loss. The question is why was Kareem Rush the only Laker to realize there was still two seconds on the clock?
Its so sad for Robert Horry because this was the time period in which Horry could not make a three pointer in the whole playoffs
i remember this game, the end of the laker dynasty
go spurs go!!!!
i remember this too well... except in my mind it was in slow motion.
