The San Antonio Spurs used a 44-18 run beginning late in the 3rd quarter to turn a 2 point lead into a 28 point victory. Tim Duncan scored 37 efficient points. Tony Parker added in 27 points too. The win ended the series and halted the Lakers dynasty from going for 4 titles in a row.
It’s weird rewatching this game and seeing how solemn everyone is. The commentators sounded like the Lakers organization was coming to an end. Shaq played well but I think the Lakers just ran out of gas.
The Spurs offense is so potent that a series ending run can just pop up from nowhere.

Those Lakers-Spurs series were so fun to watch.
RIP Bill Walton. Great memories of a great run by the Spurs.
Word. He was excellent. I was able to get his autograph at a Spurs game back in 1998. RIP Bill and prayers go to Luke and the rest of the family.
THROW IT DOWN BIG MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Walton always appreciated Duncan's game, whether on offense or defense. Walton was carefully "talking on eggshells" whenever Shaq was schooled by Duncan.
This never grows old i LOVE Seeing those tears of frustration and ego crushed from fisher and kobe
I pretty sure Duncan was crying even worse when he got his ass whooped and swepted in the 2001 WCF losing by 39 and 29 points back to back games scoring a pathetic 9 points in a crucial must win game 3, LMAO 😂🤣.
@@Theterminato2013 laughing your arse off??¿ hahahhaha just your opinion,no facts on it duncan cried ,on the other hand ,we this ,got it on tape ,and there is a bonus, fish is crying as well hahaha Mamba mentality? Pweeee cry like a girl ,so puuuùsssy as biiì -atchhh, fakers 2003 are bunch of crybabies ,so soft mamba mentality my arse
@@Theterminato2013 no proof though that duncan cried its just your jelous a$$$ opinion , on the contrary i enjoy every second of agony that so called mamba and fish had 😄😄😄😄😄
@@Theterminato2013
Preposterous lie again.
Shame on Sasuke. 🤭
Agreed
Bill Walton with the legendary commentary. RIP Big Man
Spurs prime was scary
never won back to back chips
@@dariusewing6962so lmao the west was so crazy it was hard to win
@@dariusewing6962and your team did?
@@dariusewing6962i bet if your team did win back to back which hasn't been done since miami, you had to recruit all stars to even attempt that, while the spurs drafted their talent
@@dariusewing6962the hate after a year of this being posted is crazy, just mad that your team is irrelevant now
Duncan licked the Lakers apart I was pissed 😂 That Willis follow back.
3:13: 120 Year Old Kevin Willis With the Putback Slam and the Spurs Bench Goes CRAZY 😛😛😛😛😛👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿😂😂😂😂
Duncan became the only player to win a championship while all of his teammates shot under 42% for the entire playoffs. He also joined Hakeem as only the 2nd player to win a championship while his teammates averaged less than 15 PPG. He led the team in pts, reb, ast, and blk the whole playoffs as well which he and Hakeem are the only 2 players to do
Both of them were greater than Shaq and showed it in the playoff meetings.
@@FuShengAlexshaq was UNSTOPPABLE though
@@bkman0978
No version of him was ever capable of doing what 94 Olajuwon and 03 Duncan did individually
@@FuShengAlex no version of them was ever as unstoppable as he was
@bkman0978
Both won without a real 2nd option. = More unstoppable than Shaq ever was.
Go Spurs Go
Love you post the old NBA highlights.
3:10 - Kevin Willis putback jam. The exact moment the Lakers dynasty ended
You ain’t lying man 😂 definitely made them envision the future
well they made the finals the next season right?
@@greenderp “Ended the Lakers” dynasty
Timmy’s greatness
Bill Walton great commentary. R.I.P. goat
4:38 Baby Fisher
I wonder how differently this game would've gone if Horry made that 3 to end game 5 and the Lakers had gone into this one with a 3-2 lead.
Wasn’t meant to be
An interesting g7, then.
Not engaging the Lakers in a close Playoff game/series is the key.
Dealing with the league's top 2 (or within the top 5) players is already a tall order.
Referee intervention (myth or not) makes it even more tougher.
This game ended the Laker Dynasty
And began the Spurs New England like Dominance.
@@HoodRichForbesListwell said
Lakers beat them the next year though
@@dkey4323and the next
They basically stopped each other some ways spurs from back to back lakers from 4 peat
2:16 Manu breaking Kobe and Shaq's ankles.
Lakers dominated the early 2000s. Then Spurs took over by winning several titles from 2003 to 2014 (the Heat won titles in those period too), only started to fade into obscurity when the Warriors showed up.
David Robinson retired on top this year.
Great memories. Thanks algorithm!
Those tears from the Lakers were delicious
Lol
@@colossusofrhodes4387so we're the spurs when Derek fisher knocked down that buzzer beater. Lol
@@metalmacabre9991
Which don't mean a thing because the Detroit Pistons almost swept the Lakers in the Finals (lol you back).
@@OrionOodama lol well the spurs didn't get it either so we're in the same boat on that one.
I’m sure the Spurs tears were even more delicious after the Lakers destroyed their asses sweeping and gentlemen sweeping their asses in 2001 and 2002, including shutting the Alamodome down in 2002 😂🤣.
Real basketball
Do u have any Micheal Ray Richardson highlights 🧐🤔
This was sad. SanAntonio Balled-OUT! I taped & have that game on VHS.😄
As a Spurs fan, I can't talk smack. You guys killed us 2 years in a row prior. Love the rivalry with Spurs Lakers.
This trio is as legendary as Mj, Pippen, and rodman
This is very painful to watch, even after 20 years
I'm sorry I loved seeing this tears live and still love seeing them now.
Beat LA ! Beat LA !

This hurt so bad as a 11 year old lmfao
5:03 not cry trying
2003 lakers>>>>>>>>>2023 lakers
Agreed. Shaq and Kobe held their own this series. Replace them with Lebron and fragile AD and they would get swepted.
@@Theterminato2013 💯💯💯💯 facts
I mean prime shaq and kobe got swept by spurs too lmaoo@@Theterminato2013
@@Theterminato2013 of course, cause 23 lakers don't have a bench, and a terrible rookie coach. Had this been 2020 lakers tho...
Lakers shoulda kept Zubock and Brook Lopez
🤫
NO ONE was happier than me when the Lakers Dynasty was ended, kinda made up for the Kings/Lakers series the year before.
Lakers still won 3 more titles after this series and Kings remain poverty and irrelevant
@@1999bill1999well I haven’t watched a full quarter of NBA basketball since game 5 of the 2014 NBA Finals, so IDGAF honestly. 🤷🏾♂️
Tim Duncan and the Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers dynasty they also ended the Phoenix Suns
That was karma lakers couldn't rely on the refs like they did with the kings a year before
More like CWebb isn’t close the leader like Duncan is. CWebb should take notes on Duncan and KG on how to raise his level of play in the playoffs instead of choking in the clutch and relying on Bibby taking clutch shots near the end of games.
Beat lakers = champion
everyoen laughed so hard when ref helped kobe n shaq got taste of refs heplin someone else on them lol
wher kobe at? where shaq at?
everyone laughed so hard when shaq n kobe got shit on everyone sick of their ref enabled success
staged? 040 why let best player on earth duncan go 1 on 1???? whty? no double? lakers not known for shooting lol
