“At the end of 2003, my game was complete. Shooting, defense, using the dribble, transition, mid-range stuff was all there. Then it was about fine-tuning and trying to improve in each area. People think the footwork stuff is new, but I’ve always had great footwork.” - Kobe Bryant
@Sebastian Soriano "Kobe has to set up the offense, read the defense, make others happy and he's doing a great job of it. Kobe has become the floor leader on a basketball team that was looking for that player who can not only be a scorer, but also be a playmaker who can consistently make big plays at critical times. It was very important for Kobe to step into that role he was envisioned at." - Phil Jackson(2001) a.espncdn.com/nba/playoffs2001/2001/0531/1207916.html
Kobe played all 82 games while averaging 30 and making 1st Team All Defensive Team. He kept the team afloat while Shaq missed 15 games. Even though Lakers finished 5th in the West (50-32), I still think Kobe should have won MVP. He was only 24!
Had the Lakers finished first or second seed, I’d give it him. Although I’m not the biggest fan of Duncan, i respect his game and they had better team success.
Kobe is the MOST underrated superstar of All Time! Even in his prime, they underrated him! Even when he was winning Championships with Gasol, they underrated him!
@Marlon Ndoro Shaq missing 15 games isn't enough to give Kobe the MVP, neither of them deserved a MVP when they played together. Shaq missed 15 games, but he was the best player on that Lakers team overall for the 67 games that he did play. Duncan had the better individual year which lead to more team success. Duncan proved in the playoffs that he was deserving of the MVP award that he won in the regular season.
@@onepiece6529 Just pick any season he averaged 30+ then show his Point Value by dividing his point total average to Team Point Average. Then you get Individual Point Contribution Value. His are astounding btw.
This was Kobe in his *physical* prime. Before a bunch of surgeries, bulked up for the season, athleticism at it's highest....so fun to watch! Also probably his best 3pt shooting season
@@trentonpearson7353 He also wasn't triple teamed ever possession like he was from 2006 to retirement. His last game was a masterpiece he had Hayward on him with Trey Burke and Alec Burks *in zone.* Still didn't work.
SPOT ON... I LITERALLY WAS THINKING THE SAME EXCACT THINGS... IT'S SO GREAT TO SEE THE 2002 2003 KOBE BECAUSE HE WORKED HIS TAILEND OFF FINE TUNING HIS CRAFT AND IT WAS IN THOSE YEARS OF 2002 2003 I REMEMBER WATCHING ESPN FOR HOURS JUST TO SEE THE KOBE HIGHLIGHTS ON SPORTS CENTER TOP 10 PLAYS... LONG LIVE MAMMBA
To me he’s the most skilled hooper to ever play. I’m not gonna say not even close but you can tell he’s put more time in than anyone else. His game was built off his pull-up jumper. He never had MJ’s or Lebron level of athleticism. Certainly athletic but he could get away with there dribble drive style of play. It explains why his shooting percentage was never at their level. But the skill set is elite, the way he got to his pull-up was so imaginative and he didn’t give a damn. He’d pull it wherever whenever. Special basketball player, wish we got to see more of the post career Kobe. We miss you Bean
@olaogung09 "To me he’s the most skilled hooper to ever play." Why do people like yourself think that just because MJ was the superior athlete, that it automatically made him "less skilled" than kobe? That is a rather asinine premise...SMH Especially considering the fact that unlike kobe (RIP), MJ's supreme level of skill was developed and REFINED, by actually having gone to (and played in) one of the most historic basketball programs in history, which was taught by one of the GREATEST basketball minds ever. That was invaluable to the development of his skills, which is why he was able to dominate as a rookie! But when looking at Kobe, there are SEVERAL THINGS that SERIOUSLY LIMITED his skill level (when compared to MJ's), due to NOT having that kinda' training. For starters, he ALWAYS STRUGGLED against tough/physical defenses that doubled/triple teamed him. This is due to NEVER having LEARNED HOW to limit the number of iso's that he ROUTINELY engaged in, which is something that BOTH Phil and Tex Winter CONSTANTLY criticized him for, over the course of his career. It's also why he tended to over rely on 3pt shooting and NEEDED IT so much more than MJ, just to be able to score 30 pts a game. See, if he’d gone to college and LEARNED how to effectively move without the ball, which utilizes “minimal” dribbling, it would've made it much more difficult for aggressive defenses to guard him. Knowing how to do ALL of these things (on top of having superior athleticism), is not only what made MJ the MORE skilled of the two, but the MORE difficult to defend as well.
@@arveearcita3122 Again: he CONSISTENTLY STRUGGLED against the tough/physical defenses that double/triple teamed him and that is a FACT! This is the same guy who TWICE set the All Time record for MOST MISSED shots in a Finals, in 2 SEPARATE Finals, which happened to be against 1 of the best defenses of his era. Not a coincidence, given the facts of the matter. Because the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of his BEST offensive games, ALL CAME against the WORST defenses. Not the best ones. Case in point: out of his 26 career 50+ pt games, 15 of 'em were against sub .500 teams (7 with less than 30 wins), and 20 of 'em came AFTER the defensive rules changed. Only 6 of 'em were against Top 10 defenses and his combined FG% in these 6 games is only 46%. And in half of 'em he didn't even hit 50% of his shots, with the WORST one being 17-41 shooting (41%). 11 of 'em were against defenses ranked 20th or lower, and 7 were vs defenses ranked 25th or lower. In fact he NEVER scored 50+ pts vs the #1 (or #2) ranked defense AT NO POINT during his entire career, and only scored 50+ pts vs a Top 5 defense ONCE! His career high vs Top 10 defenses is 53 pts (he did it 2x). And in those 2 games he needed O.T. and double O.T. respectively, just to get those 53 pts. Now go look at MJ's best scoring games and who they were against. It's the exact opposite...
Probably my favorite Kobe season. Had the 9 straight games of 40+ points, 13 straight of 35+, averaged 30 ppg, 7 rebs, 6 ast, 2 stls and almost shot 40 percent from three point range. Kept the Lakers afloat with Shaq out and was at his most athletic. People forget he had a knee injury he was battling for most of 2003 but he still played all 82 games and averaged 41 minutes a game... just crazy! No doubt my all time favorite player, maybe athlete ever. #RipKobe #RipGiGi. Thanks for the upload!
From 2000-2010, Kobe went to seven NBA championships in won five chips. Missed going to the finals four times during that decade. Player of the decade goes to, "Mr. Kobe Bryant A.K.A THE BLACK MAMBA. REST WELL
Ummmm no lol. Kobe fans know that Shaq and Duncan were better than Kobe. Duncan essentially had as much team success during that time and more personal success than Kobe. Kobe fans can't explain why Kobe only has one MVP in his career without going into conspiracies that "the media hated him."
@@blackphillip564 Oh the great MVP argument. So is Giannis a better player of the 10s than KD ,Harden and Westbrook? Or Nash better than Shaq? Kobe had 3-4 season when he was the best player in the world(03,06,07,maybe 08). He had 7 finals appearances and 5 titles being a superstar in all of them (had less impact in 2000 but still was one of the best guards in the league). Duncan and Shaq are very very close behind in the 2000s especially Duncan who had his best years in this decade and was legendary but he still was not as great and impactful as Kobe.
By far my favorite Kobe season was 02-03. Absolute beast. He officially snatched that torch from MJ, and then, what became, became, that summer. He had to work 10 times as hard to gain back the respect he lost when he fell from grace. Hardest working player of all time. And his fans stood by his side through thick and thin. Miss you Kobe.
No disrespect to all the other GOAT SZNs you dropped, but this one here, THIS season, we’ve all been waiting for this. I could watch every game this season, just to watch him play again #RIP
Shaq was still the best player in the world avg 28/11/3/2 for the season and in the NBA finals, he averaged 36/12/4/3 lol video game numbers. Kobe was great all around that season, but he only avg 45% shooting which is ok. Shaq didn’t relinquish his reign as the best player till the year after. I remember Jason Kidd saying during the NBA finals the only way we have a shot at winning is if Shaq’s bus breaks down and he doesn’t show up haha never have I heard a HOF player say that about another player. Head Coach Byron Scott of the Nets said we lost because of Shaq. He was so good it was scary.
@@jaymule7342 If Shaq would've had a better work ethic, then he wouldn't have lost his dominance but that's what puts Kobe over the top and the reason why he was the best player in the world because he never settled
02-03 is the best version of Kobe: Athletic pinnacle, strength when posting up, defense, elevation on the pull up, first step, 3pt %, steals. Scored 30ppg with Shaq on the team; impressive to say the least.
I love this version of Kobe the best. So explosive, smooth, so much style and so unstoppable. I can't believe there are people today that think James Harden is a better scorer than Kobe 🙄
Those are the 2010s kids that think that. They wasn’t around to see Kobe in his prime. The Kobe they got to see was a Old Kobe and just a shell of himself.
Kobe's greatest prime season. Yes better than '06-'09. Let me explain. 2003 Kobe was the closest we'll ever get to a prime ('91-93) Michael Jordan. This was before his knee surgery after the season that I think really hampered his athleticism. 2003 was the only season we saw the skill & jumpshot of the older Kobe, combined with the flash & athleticism of young Kobe. We saw bursts of his old athleticism during '06-09, but he could never sustain it like he did before. It's no coincidence he averaged a career high in steals, and 3-pt % that season, both of which he never came close to matching again. He moved differently, and he drove the ball with intensity. It's a shame 2003 was the only season the entire package was there. He suffered numerous injuries the next 2 seasons, & by the time '06 rolled around, he'd already transitioned into a more typical mid-range scorer with the mid-range.
@@quirinogarza7381 Let em know it was more about making his teammates better and being a leader in those 06-09 years and the mid-range is the best way to break down any defense
Truth be told those title runs from 2000-02 caught up with him. Yes he won 3 titles but that wore him down. Your absolutely right this was best version of Kobe but the reason those injures started was because those early runs to the championship. Jordan 1984-87 was same age as Kobe 2000-03 but Jordan wasn’t playing a full playoff. He was out in first round every year. Jordan had a full offseason to develop while Kobe was getting titles but it would cost him later on.
I don’t care what nobody says, This is the best version of Kobe Bryant. When I first heard the news of his untimely death, I immediately thought about that 02-03 season, and broke down crying. 😔
Notice how he's dominating WITHOUT relying on the refs to make calls Edit: stop replying to Avril Lavigine. it's an old ass comment by a troll. He ain't reading none of your responses
My favorite Kobe. The crazy posters, 40 point game streak, the then 3 point record, and dropping 50+ on (an older) MJs head. Mamba was really in his bag this season.
@Adrian Flores Nah... He was right the first time... Kobe literally did nothing better than Jordan and the only things he did as good as MJ were FT shooting and 3pt shooting. Jordan was the better scorer, defender, passer and rebounder.
@Adrian Flores thank you for exposing your ignorance 😂 having huge hands is an advantage in 🏀 just look at Kawhi Giannis even LeBron and many of the legends in the past were blessed with extra big hands
I do not want to watch anyone else play but Kobe and I'm spoiled because after watching all of the games up until now, man this is it, this is it. I rather watch his games any day than anyone else games. Kobe and these Lakers man they are smoking hot. Keep these Kobe's babies coming, he definitely the Goat no doubt about that, Kobe is the Goat. Thank you Maxamillion711 for sharing with us. Thank you so very much.
Mama that man 👨 got that looks in his eyes. Daddy that man 👨 got that looks in his eyes He shooting basket's over every one. Daddy that man 👨 is in that zone again.
Believe what you're seeing here, this version of Kobe is the greatest individual basketball player of all time. just putting the ball in the hoop from anywhere any way you want, I haven't seen anyone better.
The most complete and GOAT version of Kobe in my book...many will say ‘06,07...08 and lastly ‘10 but he was just on in ‘03....I view this Kobe compared to his other years like I view ‘87 Jordan to his other counterparts
Even tho this wasn't the best version of Kobe (I think Kobe from 2005-07) was better overall and more complete, damn this Kobe was unreal man. So athletic, so skilled, so dominant. I know y'all are gonna hate this but I truly believe everything aside (winning, scoring, championships, etc) and just focusing on 1 on 1 playing ability, prime Kobe is the best basketball player to ever walk the earth. Yes, ahead of Michael Jordan. That's how good he was at the peak of his powers. Just beautiful to watch. Rip mamba 💜💛
@@cameronnebraska6049 yup the year he tore his achillies he was destroying every team by himself averaging 34 8 and 8 the last month and a half of the 2012-13 season averaging 58% from the field
@Jaleel Og I think the torn achillies ruined his chances at the greatest career of all time because it was cut short I still think he could have won one more
Personally I think this is Kobe’s best year in total, he could jump out of the gym and played all the games, and his offensive game has gotten more polished all the while making 1st team all defense 🏀🔥
as a fan since he came in the league, This is my personal favorite Kobe Season. Nostalgia plays a part but i just remembered being so amazed with everything he did and skillset was off the charts!Had thinking wow, he really IS our next MJ. i kmew he was that good..but he SHOWED and more he WAS that good. This is probably his 4th best season ever, but will always be me favorite. RIP Bean
I was relatively a new Kobe fan. I started to really invest time in watching Kobe back when 2006 season started, that's the year he averaged 35 ppg (scoring 81 in 1/22/2006). Prior to 2006, I was more of a Vince Carter fan. So following Kobe, I've always had a hard time choosing which is his best year among these season choices: 2006 (35 ppg), 2007 (scored 50+ points in 4 straight games), 2008 (MVP season), 2009 (Championship Kobe), 2010 (6 game clinching shots Kobe), 2012 (veteran Kobe) 2013 (vino Kobe) However, after watching this 2003 Kobe Highlight, it added to my dilemma of which season is really his best. 2003 Kobe is something else, watching him in this highlight feels like he is already in another dimension among the other players. 2003 (55 pts against MJ, 9 consecutive games of 40+ points, 3 point record of 12 3fgm) Kobe is really the best. I've also been told of how good he was in 2004 (Lakers of Shaq, Malone, Payton) they said this was the year Black Mamba was born. Not including yet the 2001 Kobe and 2005 Kobe (first year without Shaq).
2004 was his mental excellence...he won every single game where he flew in straight from court and had spectacular games on all of them both in the reg season and the playoffs. Lead a dysfunctional and older team to the finals. Hit a bunch of game winners that season also. He lost a lot of weight that season and it shows in comparison to this one. Black mamba year for sure.
No other player EVERRRRR satisfies me not even jordan like Kobe does. I literally could watch him for HOURS. sometimes i find myself watching repatative footage cause i feel like ive watched literally everything there is to see about kobes nba career. The finest details he perfects so well almost to perfection which in turn makes him so lethal to guard. Its fun and i feel unpatienced sometimes with watching todays game cause i know there will never be a player like him as how jordan was in the late 80s to 90s. The only player that satisfies me in terms of using intriquite details and fundamentals and makes it look astonishing is now kyrie irving but even then the mamba is just a different breed and prob the only one like that ever. I hope there will be another Jordan/kobe player again but we will see. And btw Lebron is on a different category in my book. Hes fascinating and entertaining but in a totally different way, so i put him in a totally different universe if u wanna put in that way. But kobe to me is far more superior offensively than both Jordan and Lebron. And i say this because ive analyzed madddddd footage on all 3 and kobes situation plus offensive skills were used at its highest almost as if literally kobe was playing for his life in EVERYYYY SINGLEEE GAMEEEE!!! RIP MAMBA, GIGI, AND THE 7 OTHERS ON BOARD 👍🏻Have a beautiful day ladies and gents
What makes Kobe arguably the best of all time is that he genuinely loved basketball more than anyone...He was always the most talented player on his teams but he also played as if he was a bench player trying to stay on the team.
Kobe came back with 15 pounds of muscle this season. My favorite season of his. Putting a different pair of sneakers every game didnt matter the brand.
This was when he was at his most athletic, cause he gained weight during the off-season. I think he was 230 this year and had his most dunks in one season It might be his best season
beatsby: Blanch he had Shaq on his team this year. Imagine if he didn't. Also in 06 the rule changes to make it easier on offensive players had been in, so imagine if Kobe in 03 had those also
Kobe got up to 230lbs before the 04-05 season. He said he was preparing for the extra beatings he was gonna take since teams didn't have to worry about Shaq anymore.
And they were all contested shots! Nobody could have stopped him, only contain him. But even then he’s gonna explode and embarrass your favorite players. I haven’t seen MJ play, but I definitely grew up watching Kobe and I can honestly say... Kobe is the greatest player that I ever witnessed, better than any other player he went against. Real hoopers know Kobe was the definition of an assassin. Long Live Kobe Bean Bryant, arguably the greatest basketball player who ever lived. Legends never die, but damn I still can’t believe he’s gone 😔😢💜💛
For you, “they were all contested shots!!!” is a positive, for me “they were all contested shots!!!” is a negative! This is the MAIN reason Kobe never shot over 50% for an entire season!
personally I think season 2001-2002 Kobe became the best all-around player in the league and then by 2003 it wasn't even close. Though Shaq was still the most dominant in the league by far, Kobe had an overall complete game. He was a threat ANYWHERE on the court whereas Shaq was an under the post threat. Physical dominance doesn't equal best player necessarily otherwise Dwight Howard would be the best player from 2009-2011 and we know that's not true even tho he was easily the most freakishly physically dominant version of himself then. I'd say from 1999-2001 Shaq was the best player in the game as well as dominant I gotta also say Iverson was also the best with Kobe running up behind both closely. Honestly, you couldn't go wrong with any. but by 2001-2002 season, it was def Kobe. No one in the league was good at closing, off the dribble, technique, skillful, and creative than Kobe then. Shaq still had the power and dominance game. And Iverson was still there but damn if only he was just a bit taller.
Mike was better (more efficient and effective), but this Kobe was ridiculously, frighteningly good, and now ppl wanna say Harden is a better player... Harden can't make the unbelievably difficult shots Kobe made in this video IN HIS DREAMS. I truly believe there is not a single shot Harden can make that Kobe couldn't have made. Reverse this and it's not even close. In terms of pure single-player scoring ability against any kind of defense Kobe was monstrous. Elite athleticism, footwork, post game, mid- and long range game, finishing in traffic, creativity, aggression, + infinite style points.
People know Kobe had 42 in the first half against Jordan in 2003 but he had 40 with 4:45 left in the second quarter. He took his foot off the gas. He really could have had 80 that night
This was Kobe’s BEST ALL AROUND YEAR TO ME: SCORING, DEFENSE, AND MOST OF ALL HIS 3 POINT SHOOTING WAS CONSISTENT ALL SEASON LONG (REST IN PEACE HOMIE)
I'm from Dallas, TX so I grew up mostly a football head.. but Kobe Bean Bryant is the reason I started watching basketball. I shed real tears when he died. I'll see you soon brother.
This season in particular I’d argue was his best season. On top of him averaging 30, he was doing this with a dominant guy like Shaq alongside.. meaning if Shaq had not been there, his production could have been even more video-gamish, oh yea and can’t forget he was an elite defender as well. Special man, RIP Mamba !
Kobe had style and grace. The best one on one player of all time. He never needed a screen/pick from a teammate. He goes at you and obliterates you until they double and triple team. He was an unstoppable force with no flaws like MJ!!!
In 02-03 season: Kobe Bryant black mamba had played all 82 GM's (all starts) avg over 31.9 PPG (including a nine straight 40-point game), while Shaq was missed on company time in those first 14 GM's (off-season toe surgery)
My favorite ‘regular’ season it holds a special place in my heart. We started so slow and I knew in my heart we would not only make the playoffs (not even a question) but win a title. If horry shot would’ve went in we were on our way to 4 straight.
Always and will be my favorite player of all time his highlights were just a beauty to watch like I could watch this all day long man seriously this wasn't only his best season this was like ultimate mode he would just go mamba mode and scored 55 and awesome thing for this season is that and most season he was like leading the nba in scoring also correct me if I'm wrong but still hes just a exhilarating player to watch as a little kid growing up and idolizing his moveset and arsenal man it was just I needed to watch and emulate cause I was a big kobe fan and I'm still am till this day don't get me wrong I love multiple nba players but he truly stood out to me when it comes to a one on one and very highly skilled player
I would take this Kobe over any other player's prime ever. Including MJ '91 and Lebron '13. Only reason it's not remembered as much is because the Lakers didn't end up winning the Chip..
1988 MJ athleticism + 1998 MJ technique. This season was Kobe's unique contribution to basketball lore. We might never see such perfect technique in a 24 year old body again.
Well said! Hey! Niko!! Love your work, my man! I’m still clicking on Kobe vids you posted over a decade ago! Love your work, my man! Stay safe out there and one love!
Bruh this guy consistently makes shots you aren't supposed to make. He makes shots that even if they go in, your coach would still shout at you for taking. He makes shots that would decrease your player rating on 2K for bad shot selection. He made shots that would make the opposing fans forget which team they were cheering for. He made shots that made you say OH COME ON!!! I remember on 2K14 I used to swear at this guy cos he made every single fuckin shot when I was guarding him. RIP JELLY BEAN 💔💜💛🤘🏿
Pick anyone in the NBA history, in their prime and on fire, there is no one in the history on the planet I'd take over a prime on fire Kobe. He'd eat Michael up in my opinion. He's also better from deep than Michael. Goat Kobe Bryant. Miss you man!
Been waiting for this seazon! RiP!! To the legend. So glad to see MJ in his prime and him. Both GOATS TO ME. ITS HARD TO SAY THAT MJ IS GOAT WHEN YOU WATCH THESE VIDEOS
No it's just hard for you, the world knew how inefficient Kobe was and he only has 2 scoring titles, 1 league MVP and 2 finals MVP's. Go look at Kobe's greatest season and Jordan's greatest season ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE!
Kobe gave all that he could to the game of basketball, it was his passion, his bread, and butter for 20yrs. It served him well. Kobe will always have a special place in these fan's hearts as well as the Lakers. We're thankful for him and his family, especially his parents because without them there would never have been a Kobe to call THE BEST PLAYER IN WORLD, THE GOAT SZN, THE GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIMES, AND THE LEGEND, and for that, we're thankful, humble and most of appreciative to him for enduring all that he endured those 20yrs. Its like even the announcers try to hate on him, but even though they know its impossible to, from what they are witnessing, true craftman #Ripkobe #24 #8
This is one of my favorite years from Kobe. He was a monster on both sides of the court and was getting his teammates involved averaging 30ppg a game. Even averaged 30 in the playoffs
Man Kobe Bean Bryant, man it makes cry when i see him play man rip kobe and live on man and we will always remember you as one of the best players to touch a basketball
I remember this season like it was yesterday. Kobe came in this season and put on like 10-15 lbs of muscle and it clearly showed. He might not have been in his “prime yet” but he damn sure was at his physical peak and the stats don’t lie
This was arguably Kobe's best season. For me, its CLEARLY the biggest MVP robbery of his career. This is vintage Bryant as the peak of his powers 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Not even close. In 03 he went 5-11 in games Shaq missed and got toasted by the real best player (Duncan) who didn’t even have an All-Star teammate. In 04 he cost LA a title. From 05-07 he didn’t win a playoff series. 08-10 he has an argument
@@hardwoodthought1213🤡Listen to the announcers calling him the best player in the world in the 2000s it’s hater revisionist history now he’s dead try and discredit him haters coming out of the woodwork FYI Spurs won 67 games the year after Duncan retired he was non factor after 07 and Kobe is 4-2 vs Duncan in playoffs including gentleman sweep of defending champs in 08 wo Shaq
@@davis2k1234 The true revisionist history is claiming Kobe was the best player alive as early as 2002. What’s his argument? Because commentators on mass were not calling him such, most were maintaining that he wasn’t even the best player on his own fucking team. 5-11 in 03 without games Shaq played, and 55-47 overall for their 8 years together when Shaq sat. You know what Shaq’s record was without Kobe? 36-8. Duncan this same season that apparently Kobe was the best proceeding to beat Kobe and Shaq in the playoffs without even an All-Star teammate, whilst leading SA in every statistic, averaging 11 more PPG than his next best teammate and being a God level defender. To this day it’s the most VORP/Win Shares/PER of any playoff run ever. SA succeeded the year after Duncan because of a success hangover, like Chicago did in 94. And because Duncan recruited Pau Gasol and LMA and took paycuts, whilst Kobe when he was washed outcasted teammates and demanded to make 30 million a year. How did it end up tho? Because SA have done jack shit without Duncan whilst LA won a title like 4 years after Kobe retired 😂😂😂 For 3 of Kobes 4 playoff wins v SA he had peak Shaq, what did Duncan have? A 38 year old Robinson? Parker before he could buy a beer? That same logic has Nash and Dirk over Kobe Let’s just say Parker and Kawhi were better than Duncan (Parker certainly wasn’t for the playoff run), that still means Duncan was the best player on 3 title teams, which is more than Kobe….
@@hardwoodthought1213 Duncan was a beast and was better then Kobe from 97-98 2002-2003 after that Kobe was the best player in the NBA period til Lebron surpassed him in like 2012 and you do realize Kobe did torch the spurs in the playoffs more then Shaq did in the 3peat run
Greatest scorer of all time More skilled than MJ cause he can shoot the three and handle the ball better Better than KD cause he can pull up using both right and left hands and finish lay ups with the left as well More complete than Harden cause he can shoot the midrange and can post up almost everyone...plus more athletic and can finish at the rim with both hands

Tra Redd that’s because he came of straight form high school and didn’t play in the first 3 years a much Plus he also played with Shaq so he had to sacrifice a lot He is more skilled than MJ...MJ is more complete than Kobe but as far as skill and scoring the basketball he was better imo
@@chrisb.o.b7968 Ok, let's say Kobe didn't play much in his first 3 seasons. Now last say he didn't really play in his last 2 seasons. That's still 15 seasons. MJ played 15 seasons total, and that includes him missing most of 86, and 95. Kobe played 1346 games compared to Jordan's 1072. Jordan did far more in less time. Also, Jordan was more skilled than Kobe. He could do everything Kobe could do, and MJ was quicker, stronger, faster, more agile, better footwork (Kobe is 2nd or 3rd), better defender, better scorer.
Tra Redd Kobe played with Shaq bro who was the best player in the world at that time so he had to sacrifice a lot...MJ is more of a complete player, better defender and more athletic. But as a scorer Kobe could do more Shoot the 3 Better handles Better footwork Listen man for me Kobe is the greatest player to ever dribble a basketball. I understand where are you coming from and I respect that but nothing will change my mind
People will not understand how dominant Kobe was as a scorer and that’s okay. If you grew up on the West Coast you know what it is… this is every single night. And that’s why we ride so hard as Laker fans… this was our normal. Nobody other than maybe magic performed like this every single night in the purple and gold 💯
“At the end of 2003, my game was complete. Shooting, defense, using the dribble, transition, mid-range stuff was all there. Then it was about fine-tuning and trying to improve in each area. People think the footwork stuff is new, but I’ve always had great footwork.”

It was very important for Kobe to step into that role he was envisioned at." - Phil Jackson(2001)

Kobe played all 82 games while averaging 30 and making 1st Team All Defensive Team. He kept the team afloat while Shaq missed 15 games. Even though Lakers finished 5th in the West (50-32), I still think Kobe should have won MVP. He was only 24!
I agree but Tim Duncan was also ridiculous that year
Had the Lakers finished first or second seed, I’d give it him. Although I’m not the biggest fan of Duncan, i respect his game and they had better team success.

Kobe is the MOST underrated superstar of All Time! Even in his prime, they underrated him! Even when he was winning Championships with Gasol, they underrated him!
@Marlon Ndoro
Shaq missing 15 games isn't enough to give Kobe the MVP, neither of them deserved a MVP when they played together. Shaq missed 15 games, but he was the best player on that Lakers team overall for the 67 games that he did play. Duncan had the better individual year which lead to more team success. Duncan proved in the playoffs that he was deserving of the MVP award that he won in the regular season.
First of three 30+ppg seasons from Kobe. Did it in one of the hardest eras to score in while also playing elite defense.
That’s why I laugh at these goofs that say Penny would’ve destroyed Kobe. Penny was nice in his day, but Kobe, no doubt, would’ve given it to him!
Yup you could handcheck and play zone.

@Todd Tien
What I was saying is 2006-2016.
@olaogung09
"To me he’s the most skilled hooper to ever play."
Why do people like yourself think that just because MJ was the superior athlete, that it automatically made him "less skilled" than kobe?
That is a rather asinine premise...SMH
Especially considering the fact that unlike kobe (RIP), MJ's supreme level of skill was developed and REFINED, by actually having gone to (and played in) one of the most historic basketball programs in history, which was taught by one of the GREATEST basketball minds ever.
Not athletic? Whaaaat? Kobe was literally posterizing the whole league and would always do athletic lay ups
@@natedablack7857 always struggle to WHAT?! 😂
@@arveearcita3122
Again: he CONSISTENTLY STRUGGLED against the tough/physical defenses that double/triple teamed him and that is a FACT!
@@natedablack7857 I agree kobe was just too stubborn. I mean shooting the ball with 3 defenders and making it in was great

At one point the announcer says the Lakers as a Team have 38 points and Kobe's got 30 of them...

Jordan 1984-87 was same age as Kobe 2000-03 but Jordan wasn’t playing a full playoff. He was out in first round every year.
So following Kobe, I've always had a hard time choosing which is his best year among these season choices:
2006 (35 ppg),
2007 (scored 50+ points in 4 straight games),
2008 (MVP season),
2009 (Championship Kobe),
2010 (6 game clinching shots Kobe),
2012 (veteran Kobe)
2013 (vino Kobe)
However, after watching this 2003 Kobe Highlight, it added to my dilemma of which season is really his best. 2003 Kobe is something else, watching him in this highlight feels like he is already in another dimension among the other players.
2003 (55 pts against MJ, 9 consecutive games of 40+ points, 3 point record of 12 3fgm)
Kobe is really the best.
@@gregoryharlston0602didn't stop him from winning chips
personally I think season 2001-2002 Kobe became the best all-around player in the league and then by 2003 it wasn't even close.
The dunk on Sprewell was legendary.
And the one on Garnett...
and the one on Yao.....
This version of Kobe is the best basketball player I've ever seen
Naw 05-06 you’ll change your mind
Pretty damn close
gerizzyYMcrew Kobe>LeBron
Mj>kobe
Oh for sure. If the Wizards didn't suck so bad, and if Michael showed some courage and defended him, he might have gone for 70-80.
Jordan locked him down second half
@@zackanderson2114 the game was over and why would he wait for the second half? He didn’t lock shit down.
He did go look at the game. The game plan was to keep stack house on him.
7:49 one of the greatest shots of all time. We will probably never see that again. Underrated.
I can tell you’re a hooper from this comment
Maybe so…maybe not! There’s a teammate open under the basket too! If there’s two on you, a teammate is probably open!
@@gregoryharlston0602 come on man. Why does there always have to be negativity?
@@gregoryharlston0602 🤡🤡🤡
Absolute filth. Kobe was a monster with his pivot foot.
This is goat material. Him and MJ are neck and neck
This was Kobe’s BEST ALL AROUND YEAR TO ME: SCORING, DEFENSE, AND MOST OF ALL HIS 3 POINT SHOOTING WAS CONSISTENT ALL SEASON LONG
(REST IN PEACE HOMIE)
I'm from Dallas, TX so I grew up mostly a football head.. but Kobe Bean Bryant is the reason I started watching basketball. I shed real tears when he died. I'll see you soon brother.
This is when Kobe had the skills AND the legs! Before he had the knee problems. Could jump out the building and do a spinning fade-away on you lol
Imagine If Kobe Never Had Knee Problems He'd Dunk On Everyone He Sees
@@futuregohan4837 same with D Rose and D Wade.
@@rapgodreloaded9259 is this about them ? No ..
One of my favorite Kobe seasons. Complete enough to be a top 3 player in the league. With a career high in 3-pt percentage and elite defense.
Nobody was better than Kobe in 2003! Simply unreal
The greatest to ever go get a bucket... rest easy legend you gave everything you had to the game you loved..
The fact he was only 24 years old during this time and dominating at a high level tells you what he gave to the sport of basketball RIP Mamba💜💛
That Horry miss was heartbreaking...literally ruined a classic kobe performance on the comeback vs the spurs
Man you keep killing with the highlights! Thanks for keeping the game alive with these, Kobe’s legacy can never die as long as his life is remembered!
Mj in 88 is more athletic than any version of Kobe.
Visons 26 Yeah
Jesus Saldana that’s why we excuse his sub par efficiency
Jesus Saldana well Jordan is 4th on my list but not because Kobe is in the top 3
Best player to ever touch a basketball rest in paradise 🐐
Pick anyone in the NBA history, in their prime and on fire, there is no one in the history on the planet I'd take over a prime on fire Kobe. He'd eat Michael up in my opinion. He's also better from deep than Michael. Goat Kobe Bryant. Miss you man!
This is the most complete and electrifying season the game of basketball will be blessed with. You dropped this Kobe in today's game good night irene!
Think I can finally watch his highlights again without tearing up 🙏🏾
1:56 one of my favorite games
The way he move with and without the ball this game....
Sin-Sational
He's a flame thrower never gets old 😂🔥
Lmaooo vs the Knicks my all time fav game by Kobe
That 2003 Kobe was a DIFFERENT BEAST!!!🔥🏀💯🙏 #RIPKOBE
The aura of the NBA in the 2000s is unmatched.
Thank you and God Bless everyone especially his family, his parents, and the Lakers. Most of all WE'RE GRATEFUL TO GOD ALMIGHTY FOR BLESSING, AND KEEPING THIS TEAM TOGETHER!
From 2002-03 to 2015-16, he mastered Michael Jordan's playing style and signature moves.
We All Love & Miss You Kobe 😢💛💜
Its like even the announcers try to hate on him, but even though they know its impossible to, from what they are witnessing, true craftman #Ripkobe #24 #8

THE GOAT 🐐. Miss you Mamba🤞🏾
Feeling lucky about myself grow up watching him.
Rip my boy!👼🏾 my second favorite player of all time behind mj
Kobe was the best player of the 2000s era
This is something special..
This is one of my favorite years from Kobe. He was a monster on both sides of the court and was getting his teammates involved averaging 30ppg a game. Even averaged 30 in the playoffs
Mamba Forever #24forever 💛💜 We love you Kobe Bean Bryant! 💜💛
Kobe Bryant from 2000-2008 was unstoppable, he had the midrange, three point shot, baseline fadeaway everything offensively.
The best in my opinion
20 years of greatness
This was arguably Kobe's best season. For me, its CLEARLY the biggest MVP robbery of his career. This is vintage Bryant as the peak of his powers 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
From 2002-03 to 2010-11 season Kobe was the best in the league hands down
Not even close.
@@hardwoodthought1213Kawhi and Parker were the best players on 2 of Duncan’s 5 champ teams
Because SA have done jack shit without Duncan whilst LA won a title like 4 years after Kobe retired 😂😂😂
For 3 of Kobes 4 playoff wins v SA he had peak Shaq, what did Duncan have? A 38 year old Robinson? Parker before he could buy a beer? That same logic has Nash and Dirk over Kobe
Let’s just say Parker and Kawhi were better than Duncan (Parker certainly wasn’t for the playoff run), that still means Duncan was the best player on 3 title teams, which is more than Kobe….
His feet sweep is so clean. I molded my game like his, not saying I’m good like he was but every time I play basketball I feel like I’m Kobe.
Greatest scorer of all time
More skilled than MJ cause he can shoot the three and handle the ball better
Better than KD cause he can pull up using both right and left hands and finish lay ups with the left as well
More complete than Harden cause he can shoot the midrange and can post up almost everyone...plus more athletic and can finish at the rim with both hands
But he had a lower point total, lower PPG total than MJ even tho he played more Seasons than MJ. He also has a lower shooting percentage than MJ
MJ is the greatest scorer the sport has ever seen.
Tra Redd that’s because he came of straight form high school and didn’t play in the first 3 years a much
Plus he also played with Shaq so he had to sacrifice a lot
He is more skilled than MJ...MJ is more complete than Kobe but as far as skill and scoring the basketball he was better imo
But as a scorer Kobe could do more
Shoot the 3
Better handles
Better footwork
Listen man for me Kobe is the greatest player to ever dribble a basketball. I understand where are you coming from and I respect that but nothing will change my mind
@@chrisb.o.b7968 I respect your opinion as well. I have great respect for Kobe's game.
I cannot believe this legend left us the way he did, it’s not fair man.
This is the best version of Kobe hands down. Peak athleticism mix wit his skills
You're the GOAT for making this video.
