C'mon guys.... We're trying to help your customers out!🙏 The ones that keep coming into our workshop with their LC200 DPF model 4WDs looking for HELP! 🆘
There's a few of your Toyota dealers that you're either not supporting properly, or they just aren't helping their customers. Which is it? 🤷🏼‍♂️
    CASE:- Toyota LC200 DPF FAULT
To remind us all, DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Technology came about to rid the air we breathe of Diesel soot particles.
That simply means, any DPF equipped Diesel will have NO SOOT in its tailpipe.
Well... That's what filters do. They stop/catch stuff!
PROBLEM:- Toyota LC200 DPF 2015, 2016, 2017 (the most common build year we see this problem in) have FAULTY DPFs... Simple. They ain't catching soot and you and/or your dealers aren't helping a lot of people. 🤬
How do we know this? Well they're all coming into us asking for help!
FIX:- Replace the Faulty Sooty DPF with a NEW one Toyota Australia... Simple.
Yep we're Berrima Diesel, a small Grandfather, Father, Son Business looking after Diesels. Toyota please do the same. Give Diesels a Good Name by fixing them too!
    Stay Safe - Stay Healthy

Great video and commentary!! It's amazing how many dealers don't actually fix a problem, they do 'whatever' and then charge alot of money. Semi truck dealers here in America was doing alot of that and bankrupted alot of individual Truck Drivers/owners over DPF issues a few years back

Dealers anywhere around the world don't want to know you unless the car is a couple of years old and under warranty. Their main objective is to sell new stock, which these days consists of parts manufactured to last the duration of the warranty, anything after that, they couldn't care less.

Hi Andrew. Shout out to Pilbara Motor Group in Karratha. I have a 2017 200 series GXL (35000 kms) and at last service I asked about the soot in the tailpipe. After tests, Toyota have authorized 8 injectors, 2 x dpf filters ad egr repairs, all under warranty. Waiting for parts but will have the repairs performed very soon.

Good solid common sense, it’s easy to see why Qld drivers go to Berrima diesel, when we’re allowed, to have their diesel powered vehicles maintained. 👍Great work.

Because of its recalcitrant behaviour, Toyota lost a new Prado sale to me - bought a Mitsubishi instead. Its behaviour and the DPF problem it was denying existed scared me to death.
Given the grief it has visited upon countless small time punters, I am so pleased today, to see the company is about to receive its comeuppance . . . around $2 billion worth, by all accounts. Happy days.

      Hi Phil,
The LC200 has 2x DPFs (1 per bank of cylinders)
The LC70 has 1x DPF as all 8 cylinders go into 1 exhaust
Toyota are 'lips tight' on anything around their troublesome DPFs sadly.
Doing no good for Diesels image or the Customer.
      Regards

I have the 2017 hilux. I didn't get any white dpf smoke until 23,000km and then I got about 5 long puffs every 100km. I took it in for a service and they did a software update. I'm on 62,000km now and haven't had a puff of smoke since the 23k episode.
They sent me a letter saying I have a 10yr warranty on the thing. This is the only default I've experienced, the car is a ripper.

I bought 2019 fortuner. They said I must bring the car to dealer for service every 6 months (cap $240 for 5 years). But I rarely drive anywhere so I don't bring the car in when it due 6 months.
Now, after 1 year the car done 10000 km on odometer. I call Motorama for service and they said I must paid $560 instead of $240. Because I service base on km. What a rip off!!!. Should I let Motorama do service or look for someone else

My 5000 kilometres 2021 2.8 burns about every 280 or so ks. Doesn't seem to matter what kind of driving. Did a highway trip yesterday of approx 550ks. 3/4 highway driving of 100 and 110kph, about half of it hilly, about half of it towing a heavy box trailer - averaged 8.5l/100 is 2 burns included

Easy solution - report a complaint to the EPA that Toyota is producing and inadequately servicing environmental emission control systems that are defective and result in particulate emissions exceeding standards eg white plums of smoke during a burnoff cycle. If Toyota receives enough hefty penalty infringement notices they should start fixing the problems.
