Nice! Essentially, he made his own "helicoil". The mark of an expert. Great to save a valuable bike so simply and preserve the finishes at the same time.
Beautiful Super and very satisfying to watch an old Master with tricks and skill of his trade and excellent tools. This is what steel and vintage is all about, rocking up to a small village house to find expertise. Awesome 👌
@@a-kazebo-z5139 I know one like this here in Melbourne, an old school racer from 70s and 80s, I take my bikes to him because he has lived it. Unlike most of these "mechanics" today, lazy and all say the same thing.
Very practical solution with the frame already painted. I'm sure your heart skipped a beat when you realized the problem. Saving a good frame and beautiful new paint job, so good to see. I learned what is possible with a smart, skilled machinist, thanks for sharing. I'm picking up my Colnago Master lite from the painter tomorrow. I'm sure going to check my derailleur out first thing before I start the build. Perfect timing on your video.
Dude this guy just made his own helicoil, that is awesome. I love how he just went ham with the drill press too, that’s exactly how I perform repairs too hahaha
Nice Job.... For those that do not have a lathe .. there is a Helicoil thread repair insert 10.0mmx1.00mm or a T Nut made by Wheels Manufacturing in the USA that is less elegant but functionally a good way to save a damaged frame...
The real fact, is not how to fix it.. Those are simply mechanical knowledges (hard to find today indeed). The real thing is having a friend with all those Tools....
This has happened with me before, but it my case the frame was a cheap hi-ten frame, so I just leaved that way and used a nut to secure the rear derailleur.
Personally I would prefer the frame be welded and then tap a new thread. Repainting that area would not have been that big a deal. I don't see that fabricated insert being the best solution for long term unless it were to rust and seize up permanently which it probably won't do with Blue loctite applied.
Absolutely incredible skill of handicraft of Czech hands ... Be praised ...
Díky Kubo, Vašek je prostě borec!

Yes , "old Master" fixes everything, nothing is a problem for him , he loves the job!
When a bicycle mechanic dies,, it’s like throwing a book away into the trash.....so much knowledge

Thank you for support, yes I was really lucky to fix this problem. And congrat to your new painted Master.
Impresionante trabajo de artesanía!!! Que pena que cada vez existan menos artesanos.

I have a broken (off) hanger on an Eddy Merckx, would love to see a full rear dropout replacement video, I think my problem is not uncommon
It's a different job, you have to have equipment and know how to weld. Unfortunately I can't.
I have the equipment and a bit of experience with oxyacetylene, most curious about the steps for realignment

Děkuji moc za podporu. Vše bylo v režii mého bývalého trenéra se zlatýma rukama. Bohužel nevím.

I'm sure you're right. I wanted to pay tribute to my childhood coach and his skill.
