After market stereo install on a 2005 Mazda MPV

Installing a new Pioneer head unit (radio - stereo) in a 2005 Mazda MPV.
Note: There is another part you can get that allows the steering wheel radio controls to work with this Pioneer head unit. I didn't get it as it's another $80.

Dont tape the wires after you solder them people...
If youre going to spend the money and do all of this..
Just spend the extra $5 on some shrink tubing and a lighter to shrink it over the solderd joints and do it right..

We have a Mazda mpv 2003 but it's like a luxury version it has a DVD player on the roof AV/input and out plug it also has a tv screen and back up camera but I've never seen other cars like mine

I've got a 2005 one with the same system. Has a DVD player with a screen in the roof that folds down and has a reserve camera. Have you upgraded your system?

I can't see why not. The biggest issue will be trying to get the screen in the roof to keep working.

I just installed a new stereo intoy 2006 MPV and used this video as a guide to get started. One thing I'm stuck on is how to dim the radio. Where can I find some information about which wires do what in the vehicle's harness? Is there a wire that I can connect to control the brightness of the radio? Thanks!

I am looking to do this. I have lots of experience so no worries there. I was just hoping someone would have a way to incorporate the steering wheel controls. Oh well you can't have everything and at least most modern radios have a remote. That's life.

Izif Addag there was a kit that allowed the steering wheel controls to work with the new stereo, but it was like $100.
