    That advice for solo gaming is gold: "Play to discover what happens."

    I like to think of The New Guidebook as the “toolbox” and Voyages In Infinite Space as the result of what it can do if you spend 1000+ hours and two straight years working with the tools. 😅

    Looks good. Reminds me of Duck Dodgers, Rocket Raccoon comics by Skottie Young, Valerian... Grimdark OSR is great and all, but boy do I miss simplicity and optimism sometimes. Probably why Star Trek: Lower Decks clicked with me so hard.

      The world needs more light hearted sci-fi like Lower Decks and Final Space and Futurama.

      @rpgchronicler 6 месяцев назад

      @@P0rthos not sure about final space or futurama but definitely something like lower decks!
      I can say the same for fantasy as well. In fact dare I say, we've had waaay too many morally ambigious/grimdark/'realistic' fiction already and with how the world is... Id love have back some optimism and whimsy.

    • @ЄвгенКорякін
      @ЄвгенКорякін 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@rpgchronicler For fantasy, Disenchantment had a lot of promise, and still has its own charm and vibe. But it's definitely a guilty pleasure and not a great show, unfortunately, - too much meandering, too many plot holes, too little laugh-out-loud moments... I'd still recommend checking it out, but with expectations firmly in check.

    Like you, I'm a bit out of my element with sci-fi themed games (of any kind) - it's just not a genre I'm all that familiar with other than popular media. That said, I've found over the last few years I am growing more interested, perhaps it's related to getting older and looking for some type of comfort in the distant future (that was once so far away)? Regardless, this was an interesting overview - not quite what I was expecting (in a good way). Thanks for sharing.

      @d.aardent9382 6 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, i was just thinking there really hasnt been any major entertainment series about Sci-Fi subjects on tv lately to expose people to that genre.
      Oh wait maybe the Expanse, and theres the varied starwars series.
      But its not like back in 60s,70s,80s and 90s there were loads of sci-fi shows, movies.
      Moreso back in late 50s and the 60s lots of different sci-fi and 60s n 70s were more tv shows and movies that have become classics.
      Books wise there were tons of Sci-Fi novels in 60s and 70s, it was kinda the hay-day of lots of well known authors that wrote about space/cosmic/futurism/Aliens subjects.
      I was a young kid in 70s so there was (on tv), Original StarTrek reruns, Dr. Who, shows that featured old 50s n 60s sci-fi movies all the time, Space 1999,
      Kinda early 80s saturday morning shows had Jason of Star Command and Thundarr the Barbarian, bunch of ones im forgetting.
      Into early 80s primetime tv there was New Buck Rogers, Org.Batlestar Galactica, short lived series of Space Rangers i think it was,
      Quark, some other i cant recall.
      I also was born the month of all the big Moon missions hoopla, and SkyLab was a bug thing and so i had a lot of USA space exploration rockets models and books on near earth orbit stuff and solar system books.
      I don't know why i was just fascinated by that stuff. I grew up also reading young teens old Sci-Fi books from the 50s and 60s that my Grandma had loads of story collections books.

      @@d.aardent9382 Yeah, I enjoyed all the same, popular things and actually just finished watching all 6 seasons of The Expanse. As a kid (you have a few years on me) I watched Buck Rogers, but I was never really more than a casual fan of Star Trek or even Star Wars. I have barely any experience reading sci-fi novels and hardly any playing RPGs. I was definitely more into fantasy, not sci-fi but I'm learning to appreciate it more now.

I was thinking that there is no money or credit system but that idea about used die was brilliant. I have newer heard it before, but sound perfect for this use with game. After few hours of playing, just love it. And this video explains so good everything about the game. Thanks a lot.
