Nice video Steve. I think ya found the perfect vertical wood splitter for your needs. It is faster than I thought it would be, for electric. I think its great. And it didn't run out of gas.
Thanks Genin, I was surprised too. Like you said in your video, I'm in no hurry just enjoy splitting but it's that much more enjoyable when it keeps a good pace.
Very cool little splitter. I’ve been watching several videos on these. Your make great content Steve. Pleasure to watch man. I’ve seen other videos that shared the same thoughts on paint, but other than that they seem to be great machines.
I think splitfire nailed everything with this splitter, from the affordability standpoint. It's small enough and light enough where you can manhandle it around without other machinery. It's fast enough to keep up with other vertical machines, so it is definitely a production unit capable of rocking out some wood fast. As far as paint, meh, as long as the thing starts up every time and splits what I want I can live with it for that price.. Great chat, review and demo of the new toy brother. I think it's a really nice affordable splitter for someone wanting to upgrade to the next best thing from a box store splitter 💪💪
Good for you! I love my 1165v! I've made a ton of videos, including one of making my own "knee-push" control. This machine is really awesome. Good on ya brother!
Thanks Derek, I've watched your videos. I don't think a knee push is for me what with the staples that just came out but you have done some cool mods to yours.
Morning Steve , glad to see your knee is doing good . I’ve been looking at these splitters but not really sure . I do like the compact design . Thanks for sharing . 👍🏻🇺🇸🪵
New sub here, Just came across your channel. The new 1165V is an awesome splitter for the money regardless whether you get gas or electric,. As far as the caster assembly I almost did the same thing on my 1165V and found myself putting the pin at the bottom in so handle doesn't hit splitter carnage. The folks at Split-Fire tell me they are looking at powder coating splitters in the future similar to their wood chippers and tractor carry all. You're right its addictive splitting with the 1165V! Looking forward to more video's using your splitter. 👍TCT
Mine gets delivered Tuesday, paint was a big thing I inoticed also. There is a video on the caster handle showing the uses. There should be another pin by the caster pivot point to stop it from hitting the beam that you can pin to avoid the handle issue. Thats how the video from split fire shows it.
I picked up a little earthquake horizontal electric splitter to keep in the garage for splitting kindling or already split and dried wood a little smaller and it works pretty decent ! Welded up a stand for it so it’s up at working height. Like u said in the garage with some tunes cranked and split away. lol. Take care Steve
How does it do? I bought a cheap electric splitter at Menards a few years back and wouldn't split a 2x4 This one is a "budget vertical" but cost 20 times as much. There's got to be a middle of the road.
I think it was mid 300’s at most at tractor supply. And it’ll split 8/10” green just cut maple or oak with no issues so long as it’s not crazy knotty. But usually it’s already split wood smaller. Or literally 2x4’s etc for kindling. But worked pretty damn slick. I’ll see if I can send a pic of it and the stand I made for it on email
Those 1165 vertical splitters are pretty impressive. It's hard to go wrong with any of the Split Fire products. I have the original 1165 with an electric motor it's a fun little splitter probably not as good as the vertical though. I don't use it much I use my 2265 for most of my splitting. Enjoyed the video take care Ben.
That is pretty slick, it would be perfect for my wood for the offset grill. First one ive ever seen. They probably think it will never see rain so it doesnt need better paint. How was the concert? The Chicago radio station I listen to said sun was the best and nobody left a little early to beat the traffic
I love it, the concert was awesome, walking to the car wasn't the best but if those guys can rock like that in their 60's I can walk to the car with a bum leg LOL!
Hola soy de Argentina y me interesa. Está Partidora Vertical Eléctrica. Me podes Pasar Precio y la Despacharían por Fedex u otro Empresa de Cargas. GRACIAS.
Hello Steve I have been following Splitfire and I have made the same assumptions. Great splitter for some wanting to get into the vertical platform but haven’t because they are concerned about storing the bigger competitors verticals. The paint was always the first thing I seen in their videos! 2 rounds and the wedge was completely stripped of its finish. Great innovative machines not sure why they choose to lack in the paint booth? Nice shirt! Take care👊🏻
Hey Todd, I agree. I'm really happy with the splitter. I don't think the paint will be an issue since mine will live inside but I don't think thats the case for many. Just the spray job is a little lacking (lots of junk and runs in the spray) wouldn't keep me from buying one again though!
Nice little splitter. Make sure you check for state laws for transporting firewood. Many states require the firewood to be heat treated before leaving or entering. Accidental fines really suck. Ask me how I know. I paid 250 dollars for an arm load of mesquite. And my wood was confiscated. Have a great day.
Funny you say that. I did check and Illinois to KY as best I can tell has no rules against. I checked for hauling full logs from KY to IL to saw and take back. How did you get in trouble if I might ask?
@@upinsmokefirewood it was in the side box of my semi. I went through a dot inspection. The officer knew the regulation. I was told if it would have been logs or green lumber or if the wood was heat treated it would have been no big deal. Being that was the only ticket I received, I believe he was just looking for a reason. The company I was working for was known to hire less than reputable drivers. If the state has any the laws are either found at the forestry department or the agriculture department.
@@upinsmokefirewood By using a certified kiln. Kiln dried and heat treated are not necessarily the same. Example, kiln dried can be achieved with temperatures below 120 degrees. Heat treated means the wood must have reached a core temperature of 140 degrees or above for a certain period of time. I know the smoker blocks I have hauled to Walmart, are always accompanied by a certificate, the kiln owner provides. The stamp says USDA.
New Sub! Been hearing your channel mentioned and I’ve seen your logo around other channels lately. I’m looking at this same splitter for doing exactly what you’re doing. I too have a Wolfe Ridge (35 SHO BW) and an inverted and box store splitter. This looks like the last piece of the puzzle and I too would go electric. Great machines, I’m holding out for the Paul Bunyan show to see if they have any other innovations in the works. How do you like using the splitting lever? Would you rather have it a foot pedal? Take care and have a great day Around the Yard! Brent
With the logs you split it would be faster and easier to do it with a maul show me how it holds out on twisted knots that’s seem to be what I get the most of when delivered and then it s 40 ton ram time with the gas motor
I have multiple gas motors. It wont compete with the Wofe Ridge for power but it would beat out the super splitter. I'm fortunate enough to have several options. I was surprised at how well it did on a few knots. I didn't have very high expectations but it exceeded them. I don't think a maul would be faster. certainly cheaper per split but that's not really my style.
Good Morning Steve, definitely more peaceful with electric 👍🏼🇺🇸
I like it! Got a package today!
Cool little splitter and a very cool jeep!
Thanks Doug, I've been working won that Jeep for 10 years! Almost done!
I have been so thrilled with my Split-Fire 2265. Super fast and efficient. Cool to see this electric model in action!
I really like it, I think i'll get some good use out it!
Thanks Steve, great to see the vertical Split Fire in action. Sure looks like it will fit your needs just right! obie
I think it will serve my needs well!
This is the video I was looking for. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
That’s a cool splitter! Sure will be nice splitting in the warm shop in the dead of winter!!👍👍
You got that right!

nice video, i just ordered one
Awesome, you'll love it! Gas or Electric?
@@upinsmokefirewood gas, standard engine, i think they are all made in china anyways
That splitter is a nice option, and I bet a LOT quieter!
for sure.

Definitely an interesting splitter. I like the idea of splitting in the shop, climate controlled woodyard 😅.
You and me both!
Definitely want to get one for the shop
No more splitting in the snow LOL

@toddsoutsideagain- such pretty paint, probably better to not paint the wear surfaces than to look like that after the first use
Hola me interesa está Máquina, me pasarías Precio. Gracias
Could be white oak ! Thats a nice splitter ❤ it
The bark said so but not sure after I split it.
For a budget and homeowner level, I see this as a better option than the stuff coming out of China 😉👍
I couldn't agree more. It kind of bridges the gap between HO and Pro
