Back when I was a kid we didn't have a log splitter and when we got logs that were nasty we would toss them in a pile till late December or in Jan to split them . When the logs freeze up they split like butter some times we still had to use a wedge but most times we could split like it was never a problem. I remember a time my Dad had a huge pile that he had a hard time splitting he said it was like rubber it would just bounce right off and hardly leave a scratch. One winter I felt like splitting and went out there and that was how we learned we could split them when they were frozen.
My dad had a heck of a splitter when I was a kid. As a matter of fact I helped him buy his first splitter and when I came home to visit I was using it. I asked why didn’t you get one of these when I lived at home. He said I didn’t need it then I had you and that wore out double bit ax
Nice. It's great that you're at the point in your youtube career that people let you sample these expensive machines. Keep up the good work, and thank you for taking the time to do these videos
Chris, that is some good stuff. I like the fact that you’re showing the features, and functions of different splitters. It gives people the opportunity to weigh their options if they’re in the market. It also gives them ideas in case they have a similar setup of two or three splitters at once. I just spent my money on an Axis,…but I would consider the SplitForce if I were needing to split at different areas on my property.
@@InTheWoodyard I like the fact that there is a machine for everyone. I actually love processing firewood because of all of the newer technology that’s available. I used to hate it as a kid. My dad and I would do it all. Back then, all he had was a chainsaw, double-sided axe, sledgehammer, and a splitting wedge. I’d be wore out most of the time after we were done. He would be so grateful if he had access to a 500i, a commercial splitter, dump trailers, and all of the equipment and tools that we use today.
Quite a selection of splitters. They ought to get the job done. Now I know how Bert got so good on a skid loader. The old man has a great touch with that unit.
Good video showing an interesting combination of different machines 👍 It reminds me of when I was younger, the community of farmers that I lived in used to get together for work bee's. Everybody that had a hydraulic splitter would bring them. Otherwise you brought mauls or axes. We would have 25-30 men and boys working together hammering out full cords of firewood until everyone had enough firewood for the winter.
Sept. 27 Helene hit middle GA. I've got access of 5 years of firewood in my yard and my neighbors. All whit oak, hickory and pecan. All I need is time.
Our friends in Canada have some impressive machines; Split Force, Eastonmade, and Split-Fire! The dilemma is the price as someone who doesn't/ can't do firewood for sale (currently no space). Great video, thanks!
I was looking at splitforce videos a week ago ,now u post this video. For all the tree removal wood we cut and haul home this is the perfect machine for big heavy rounds. I've got piles of logs everywhere. Alot of 2-5ft giant rounds also. Only so many hrs in a day for splitting. Brought home 4 cords of oak and pine just today . Some days theres 5 or 6 trailers full of 2 cord logs we have to haul home. It Would be nice if it had a 30ft conveyor for taller cones. I need a firewood processor and a splitforce if I won the lottery. Might have to just rent a processor for a week bc ive got like 60 cords of straight poles that would fly thru a processor. I stack up the straight ones and buck and split the ugliest logs first. Bucking and splitting every single piece i sell by hand is not efficient at all abd is back breaking work. A splitforce would also work great to do slabwood with for boilerwood. Split like 4 big slab pieces in half at once then up the conveyor into the trailer then delivered. This machine would be ideal for mobile splitting jobs where people have yard tree they want split up. I like the powersplit ones also with the double splitter setup and conveyor up the middle. super efficient and mobile
G’morning Chris. Awesome to see the daisy chain of splitters. Love the Green Machine. Elevator to elevator to trailer to elevator would be SWEEEEET. GoodNightIrene
How slick! I would love to see if it could be idled along as a stand alone conveyor for stuff like heaping bins! My available yard just quadrupled in size and I have 2.5 acres now split between four lots and that would be a game changer
That split force is fast. Like the variable speed elevator. And self propelled machine. The wolf and Easton made was great also. The formation of the splitters was perfect. And a mountain of wood split quick.
I'm impressed how consistent your split sizes are even hours later. My wood is personal use so i guess it matters less but im guilty of the splits getting larger when i want to be done for the day.
If I ever bought one of those I would get mine without the conveyor. The pull behind Split Force SF9 would be great to, You can move those around by hand if you wanted, (I think.) Was just looking on Shaver Specialty Service and the one like you are using without the conveyor (SF-9TR) is $10,900 plus tax. Sweet!
Cool machines! I’ll never understand why folks sometimes spend time struggling to get a split that is stuck underneath a wedge wing VS simply pushing another piece through. 🤷♂️
That's the machine I have, but the Canadian version (Timber Devil) without the conveyor! I chose it as ot was rhe same price as rhe Ultra (another nice splitter) but i wanted the versatility of the vertical, and the log lift!
Split force is nice stuff. Their double head splitter with the conveyor in middle is really cool. Now if split force was smart they would just give it to you because I see you using that a lot for resplits with a dump trailer backed up to it going straight in the bin and the uglies and hand cut stuff. Is split force the one that makes that little basic vertical that Tony recently got ???
I have been told when traveling downhill, if you function the turning cylender, it steals enough oil from the travel motor that it will free spool. The splitter will take off without oil in the travel motor to hold it back.
It is lighter built than the Eastonmade or the Wolfe Ridge machines......but.... it is very adequate and works great. The elevator and the drive able features really set it apart.
I remember back at the old woodyard when you were using the glacier still you were wanting one of these mobile units but they wanted like 20k, look at all the toys you got around there now lol. Imagine if ole cookie could see you now.
My opinion is low of the Power-Split International splitters, tge company who makes these self-propelled machines, as they tend to use single-stage hydraulic pumps and severely overrate the tonnage on their machines based on the splitting hydraulic cylinder size. Compare the splitting cylinder to the other splitters and let us know for sure the size differential m
Years back i had 3 spliters...Son 1 Son2 Son3 then they grew up n go me a spliter....Now at end of my tape measure...Hu gets spliter Son1 Son2 ur Son3 LOL
When I was a kid we were so poor I had to split wood 🪵 with my bare hands and I enjoyed it. Even today I can split wood with my bare hands faster than log splitter. 🦸♀️😅
This is efficient as you can be ! Love it

Yup, it is a lot of fun and work, it's been a long 4.5 years of a video every day....almost 1600 now!
Thank you for this great presentation 👏.
Looks like the magic is made by having 4 hands per any good wood splitter 🤩
Yup, more is the right number of hands to help!

Amazing job boys! Love the new go cart with conveyor 👍TCT
Yup, I always wanted a go cart as a boy....good thing I am still one....no conversion yet.
I have heard you talk about your rates, no matter what they are, you provide a great service to the public!!!
Thanks Ralph!
The more I watch the vertical splitters, and the older I get.... the more I think, that's what I need!🤔

Chris working like a maniac
Yup, that is what I do.
That's a really nice trio of splitters!! Might take Bert a few extra hours to drive the Split Force to the Paul Bunyan show!!😂 GNI
I am going to bring it to the show tomorrow, he is bringing the Wolfe Ridge. She does about 4mph...I better get going NOW!
