Wow, that is really versatile . the lift alone is a deal Maker for me . the honda engine and the adjustable splitter is icing on the cake . very nice machine .
When you place the logs, start them against the splitter, rather than against the plunger plate. That way they stay where you put them and you don’t have to guide them to the splitter.
I cannot figure out why splitting wood is so complicated. I’m 60 years old and been splitting wood for as long as I can remember. The hydraulic wood splitter was the best thing to come along after the wood maul. You turn the splitter up lock into place and split the log on the ground. The less you have to fool with the wood the better.
My dad used me as his log cutter, splitter & stacker no need for a machine. I also dug ditches & lugged shingles to the roof. Hard work like that turned me into an animal on the football field and got me a nice scholarship. This machine looks great & had I had one when I was a kid maybe I could have had more time to train in the gym and performed even better in sports, excellent video.
You know, watching these kind of videos or to me on the truck driver.Watch these vacuum landed better.Just so relaxing.Thank you for putting these kind of videos out awesome
Park the tactor with a bucket or IBC at the back of the splitter, fill up as you go, save your back a little. Using a Finnish Palax Combi MII here, probably a less expensive machine, but not suited to larger diameter logs like you're splitting. Great throughput though, and has its own built-in shiftable conveyor.
Way better than my 22 year old 22 ton brave but at a average of 300 4x8 by 16" stacks per year you gotta lot of catching up to do like you content very informative and well said 👏 👍
I did this back when I was 14 ( 1972 ) mad enough to buy my first truck with cash in 76 . Now at 60 I have my son and grandson working the splinters and delivering wood on the weekends.
Thank You for all of your info & insights on the splitting process and machine. I’m looking to relocate and want a sideline to keep me active! Will be looking forward to more info about the Splitter.
Nice splitter! I'm using a harbour freight electric splitter, so a bit slower than that one. For $200 bucks it does a surprising job. I've split some pretty big pieces, somewhere around a couple hundred pound maple rounds. I use the forks on tractor to pick them up and lower them to the spitter, keeping the weight on the forks. Can't put their full weight on the spitter, i'm afraid it would bend it.
Me, too... I used my first one for about 10 years, then got a new one on sale (the sale paid for the added warranty) then, it wouldn't break, since it was covered. My HFT one would eat all those straight grain rounds for lunch. For curvy ones, I cut 12". No thanks.
VERY nice. need to down size main cylinder if you wanted to push fast. at the speed that big cylinder is moving you should have lots of pump volume. i un-bolt my splitter & attch to mine excavator. VERY nice that will keep a good team moving
I built a table top vertical splitter like the Eastonmade Axis only lots bigger and heavier. I load the logs with my tractor It can 36" easy. I've never split so fast. It''s not as fast as a commercial rig but it's fast Standing operation never bending over is the Bomb~!!
I have a conveyor and trying to just split right into pickups for sales. Cut a few cords ahead, then call customers and tell them to come by. Trying to get away from the one cord deliveries with my dump trailer as those folks always looking for "cheap".
YOU DID A GREAT JOB. IVE NEVER LISTENED BEFORE AND YOU GAVE AN HONEST EVALUATION. GOOD JOB. IM SURE SHE WILL LET U BUY MORE SINCE THE MONEY IS COMING IN. SERIOUSLY, GOOD JOB.
I bought AA fiskars, it’s really handy. You could go buy a cheap yellow handled axe, get you grinder cutting wheel out and make one cheaper. Either way they are real handy. There are RUclips videos of guys making them I think
Very nice splitter. I like the side lift and the adjustable height on the four way. You are splitting the wood toooo small. It will burn too fast. I like to have the front bucket of my tractor next to me and stack the splits neatly in the bucket and take it to the wood hut. Saves time. Aaron from Canada
"Not sure how you guys do it". Me an my two sons get out there with sledgehammers, wedges and an axe. That's after finding a free tree to cut up and haul to the house. That is a nice splitter. I love free heat!

Lots of new stuff out there. I'm old and grey haired but did my share of hand splitting. Corkscrew tractor attachment is what I used to use.
It looked kind of flimsy for them logs. My guess it'll last 3 seasons before some welds give way. If a one man operation. I know having to drill holes in some oaks while rebuilding a window was not something I expected. So seeing that thing split oak would my guess be a destructive decision. I guessing depending on the power of the ram that splitter post won't be splitting oak with the four or six way. Otherwise is would bend the frame as it used the log to place the splitter into the hitch position.
The log lift is a great feature, be more respectful of it though. You have your pile right there, you look strong enough, don’t load the lift so heavy. No need when your pile is right next to the machine. Overloading, even though the lift will , in fact lift that much, will put unnecessary stress on the frame. Things will twist and break sooner. Ahh you don’t talk near as much as some tubers. Great machine
This is a good point. I don't know what the lift is rated for, but the hydraulic cylinder is NOT the weak point. If the mfg says load it full and run it like you stole it, then go for it. Otherwise, be mindful of their recommendations. Once the machine gets tweeked, you'll wish you had been a little more careful.
Thanks for posting the video. This looks like a nice splitter but I refuse to do business with places that have a "request a quote" option on their site when they have standardized products, or even when you can customize it. Pretty easy to create a quote customizer (See Woodmizer). That just means they are embarrassed by their high price tag. It's the same concept as a used car salesman not posting a price on a car they have for sale.
Dude. Stop running it all the way back. Judge the size and stop wasting run time. And how much for this thing? The quote only website is costing them business. Look at the comments. I’m sorry for being a grump. Love your work. Be well.
It's kinda good --- kinda not. It's a little more complicated, but I think with time and experience you can get up to speed. The ram is kinda slow --- but it splits 2/4/6, etc., so there's that. Question: does it auto-stop at full extension and/or can it auto retract after it gets to full travel? That would be nice.
Like many people has said, the website wants you to email them for a Request for Quote. This tells me the company only wants your email address ... they're not serious about their machine ... or it's way more expensive than their competitors.
yeah man, great video, thanks for this. Good info, the walk-around tent to get a bit boring, and its hard, as a creator, to make them interesting. Let people google them

I only been splitting for 7 years and you are 100% right sir. And I’d never split stuff that small
I have split a lot of Elm by hand. Everyone says splitting elm by hand can't be done. I've split 60+" oak rounds by hand.
If I had a log lift I’d never split on the ground, to hard on my back and knees.
I'm old school, but, wow today machines!
Nothing splits easier than ash. Like to see some tough old oak or hickory. Maybe some stringy elm.
Yep I split my ash with an ax have a cord split in no time
Hickory I find to be ok for splitting. Wet oak can be stringy. Both are rewarding to burn imo.
Rock elm is nearly impossible to split
There is no splitter out there that seen split better then a home made splitter
That splitter will definitely speed up production!👍👍

Someone did a real nice job welding that receiver on the rear. Looks great!

I like the high speed option ! Splitting is much faster !! Wish I had that option on my splitter 😛

If they're hiding the price that usually means it's not competitive and they want contact to "talk you into it".

Definitely do a full walk around. Definitely after you have more use in on it.
With an outdoor wood stove you only need to split it to a manageable size, because you could actually throw the whole log in if you’re strong enough.
Smaller pieces make a more efficient fire. I have a hardy hot water stove and found it is a hole lot more efficient with smaller pieces.
I have a wood splitter but i need the front seal replaced it leaks fluid i cant find anyone to fix it i personally cant in nc
If you turn the 4way wedge over, you can get a couple more inches. The plate isn’t centered on the wedge
