Someone with experience did some major thinking.

Park the tactor with a bucket or IBC at the back of the splitter, fill up as you go, save your back a little. Using a Finnish Palax Combi MII here, probably a less expensive machine, but not suited to larger diameter logs like you're splitting. Great throughput though, and has its own built-in shiftable conveyor.

I'm considering on cutting off the bottom and one side. Where I am planning on "parking the tote near the house, the snow drifts knee deep and sometimes higher. I'm thinking the wood won't be packed with snow as it gets tossed into the basement when needed. What is your thought on my idea? Pro/cons.

How well is that vertical cylinder reinforced? Seems like it would fail prematurely with that lateral force from the splitting cylinder pushing against it

6 way on the right sized logs would make some fast firewood.

I have a conveyor and trying to just split right into pickups for sales. Cut a few cords ahead, then call customers and tell them to come by. Trying to get away from the one cord deliveries with my dump trailer as those folks always looking for "cheap".

Someone did a real nice job welding that receiver on the rear. Looks great!

Me personally would have done the 6 way. It’s because that’s how I would manually split it.

A multi wedge splitter will save a ton of work. You will enjoy having the different splitting options.

We always cut from the bottom of the pile rolling logs towards us when needed. We then stack the rounds in nice neat rows to make splitting and faster. Something gramp taught me long ago and we are still doing it that way 40 years later.

Maybe I missed it but what was the final cost of the machine. I'm going to guess being the owner of a '95, 310 John deere. I'm going to say with your mileage a really good deal would be around 15 k and still a fair deal would be about 20K.
