I think it's the best budget friendly 18th RTR I've seen so far. With the HardPark Dementor announced today, I think we've go a new money-is-no-object RTR king. Can't wait to get my hands on an EVO-Pro though!
Gerat video, Adam! Just FYI, Theres a second output shaft on the back of the trans and if you get an aftermarket rear axel housing, some of them let you flip it so the diff gears are turning the opposite way. Hook up the driveshaft to the other output shaft, and now the axels are turning in opposite directions, eliminating the torque twist and keeping the front tires planted. I can't wait for a bigger aftermarket for this rig as i have only been able to find a handful of upgrades for it, mostly fx118 and cr18p crossover parts. There's next to nothing specifically for the Evo Pro as of yet.
I ordered one as soon as they came out and I'm still waiting for it , apparently it's still in the US , I'm looking forward to unboxing it when it eventually arrives here in the UK , looks like a little weight will improve the car and I will try some different tires but I am a fan of that type of tire tread , i think i will fit metal drive shafts after yours failed so quick , great video again keep them coming , stay safe and a happy new year to you and your family mate 🇬🇧
I see this as a plus. Hobbyplus and furitek are not the same company. They just collaborated on the fury wagon. Hobby plus waited and saw OUR complaints and the mods we were doing to them. And decided to take those into account with an improved chassis. The other great thing is everything on the evo pro is compatible to the fury wagon. The chassis and skid will come in around $26 USD. An easy swap over. Stub shafts are $7 I think.
I have to say I love your channeland its one of my favourite to watch. I take my two boys out with me and they are 15 and 18 so its great to see you taking your son out with you. Keep up the good work and i hope your success continues for the new year. Just one more thing what is the red truck you compared it to I cant remember?
You do know that furitek helped inspire and inform this rig right? Without the fury wagon and furitek, hobby plus would never have gone this direction. Furitek and H+ have been working together to improve these. Also, everything on the evo pro is the same as the fx118 except the chassis rails, sliders, +5 shafts, tires and motor Same exact axles (minus the +5 axles shafts that REALLY increases scrub)., shocks, servo, transmission housing, suspension links, steering links, portal gears, servo gears, diff gears and if you get the brushless, Same exact electronics.
I love the looks of this truck for comp style, but didn’t like my scx24 with extended axles, it just doesn’t look real/scale at all. But does make it easier to crawl. Great review!!
As always great video Adam, appreciate the channel! Really excited to see more of these Evo Pro hit the market, and looking forward to what people are able to do with them!
@@adamr9215oh there will be plenty of upgrades to come, but the fact that we get a solid base to improve on is very nice. The only thing that is from the factory on my SCX right now is the esc and that may change soon 🤣

Love mine! The only things I don’t care for are that the pins scratch the bed’s finish up quite a bit, and also the torque twist. Can’t wait to put some upgrades on it!
If you get an aftermarket rear axel housing you can flip it over so the dif gears are going the opposite direction and switch the drive shaft to the other output shaft coming out of the back of the trans which will make the drive shafts spin in opposite directions eliminating the torque twist
Fully agree, that are the only 2 negative points and the one which really matters is the torque twist. If that can be eliminated it will be the absolute beast 👍🏻
@@stefan-norge I do not, I know of other models that have the same style trans but I don't believe that any of the aftermarket axels currently available have that feature. I'm sure someone will design one that way in the near future with how much traction this platform is getting already
@stefanhofstetter54 do you know if the fcx24 axels are the same as the Evo Pro? I may have found 2 different axels that allow you to flip the pumpkin cover around if they are in fact the same axels. They look identical in the mounting points of the center links, I'm just not sure if they are the same width. I had thought that the fcx18 and fcx24 used the same axels, and I think the fcx18 used the same axels as the cr18p. Nice review Adam! I received my brushless version last week and it absolutely rocks with out of the box performance. Very much enjoying your content dude, nice work. I guess my only constructive criticism about anything would be in the sidehill and vertical angle test. I have a feeling the slightly irregular speed of your arm may influence the rigs failing the test prematurely. It may be worth looking into some how mechanizing that part to negate any unnecessary influence as I feel this is a crucial point of testing. Just my thoughts 😁
I have got the evo pro and fury wagon now, both brushless. They are amazing. Just bought RCAWD metal axles for them should be here this week. Gonna be epic!
I had it narrowed down to two models. Thanks for adding a third! Seriously though, budget for one decent crawler plus a few upgrades. I was going to ask recommendation between the 1/10 Ascent with a fusion se 1800k, and the rather large 1/18 scale utb18 Capra with 1.9 bead locks and probably rear servo down the road. After this video, now I’m wondering about the brushless cr18p evo pro too. I have a modified 1/24 lcg deadbolt already. For under $400 which of those three would you recommend? Thanks! Love the channel. Wish Fall River had the crawling spots you’ve got your way 😢. Know any good spots West of you, like Dartmouth?
Go with the ascent. Best bang for the buck there. You are a stones throw away from the best crawling spot in New England: fort Phoenix in fairhaven. I would pitch a tent and live there if I could
Maybe not a stones throw, but certainly closer than the cape! Thanks! Re the Ascent, do you think that throwing in a fusion se 1800 is worth it? I had been looking at a WP 1080 G2 and quicrun 30T for some better control and a bit more crushing speed, but then came across the fusion se. After tires, that seemed like the best change to make. Thoughts?
@@Nutz_forRCs Go with the Fusion SE. It has a lot of benefits (slower more controlled crawl, lower battery consumption, lower CG, allows for front mounted battery, can be used in future builds.
@@CapeCrawlers btw, thanks for the heads up on fort phoenix. You were right. It did not disappoint. Touch too cold right now, but will be going there as often as I can come spring. If you ever head out that way with some crawlers and want to give a shout out on your channel I’d love to see your favorite places or routes and it would be dope to see some of the builds you’re running.
@@CapeCrawlers also, went with the ascent and fusion se 1800kv. Stock tires on bead locks with two stage foams and some brass on front portals. Also removed inner shock springs. The ascent is AWESOME now. Thanks for pointing me that way.
I've been looking at these but on the complete opposite side of the spectrum I have an SCX6 on backorder and I'll probably spend that money on a servo for it. I see one of these in my future though.
The main issue I have with the portal axles and / or maybe combination of portals and this type of transmission is the immense amount of play in the gears. I just hate when these things crawl unsteadily and occasionally roll down a bit once they manage an obstacle. On my fcx24 this totally ruins all the fun and I prefer the scx24 setup much more!
Which is better the fx118 or the cr18p Evo pro? How does the log and adjustment of both suspension and weight of the chassis compare. Also how does the 2 speed trans with a bigger brushed motor compare to the single speed brushless. And also does the cr18p Evo come with bar rings or bushings. If it comes with bearings should that be a deciding factor, as to the fx118 katana comes with bushings, correct me if I’m wrong.
Compared to Axial SCX24 its ridiculous, the stock Axial should be 30 $ compared to this thinking what you would have to invest to make it work like this. On the other hand - and especially in Europe - very hard to get spare parts, have to order from Asiatees or Heli Direct with very high shipment costs and customs fees - and even those shops have half of the stuff not in stock and that it is August 2024. And almost no aftermarket parts, Injora completely ignored it so only a few RCAWD parts, also order from overseas. So think twice (or five times) before choosing this platform. Also the problem with torque twist, gets much better with the reversed rear axle housing which is finally available but not in stock anywhere (but with Helidirect which would cost me 30 $ shipment costs for a small 10 $ part). And they still ship the new brushless version with that "bad" rear axle, also the European Absima Versions of it.
Can you confirm which metal driveshafts will fit this? I want to order a set before mine arrives but am seeing various length 18p metal replacements online?
Makes me wonder why in the world doesn't axial make an scx24 pro like they do the scx10 pro! I'd buy it, I know builders who would still buy a scx24pro rtr from American hobby shops
I have received one of this RC cars as a gift and i am at a lost how to charge the battery that came with the car without using the usb charger that came with the car. I researched chargers, and connectors, and lipo bags and everything gets more confusing as my search deepens. Could you recommend a good charger with the correct connector. Does all the hobby plus RC cars use the same battery connector?
I like the SCX24 scale rigs, but I'm very temped by this. Very! BUT..... not available in Canada!!! 😥😤 ???- Do you think it could be narrowed a bit for running on SCX24 indoor courses? Could those hex extenders be removed or would that slam the wheels into the knuckles? Thanks Adam! Bert the Weldor
I have the cr-18p rock van, it makes a clicking noise when driving on the rocks and turning is there any way to fix as I haven't seen exactly it's problem
Interesting I have the Furitek version & have not broke anything yet & ive had it on some very grippy steep terrain. More people are getting them so I’m hoping everyone starts to upgrade & mod them mine came with a Light kit & I installed it getting some metal beadlocks as well & metal axles I love the 2 speed the Fury is super slow so you can’t move it any distance without having to pick it up.
@@ivanmaz2847 You mean the toggle switches on top? It’s interesting they don’t say anything about what they do they acknowledge they are there though. It has to do with the drag break setting, reverse throttle or steering & not sure of the others but other models that have that remote show what exactly they do the settings are the same.
Is it the same receiver/ESC box than the cr18P (ref : FS R4A3-B) ? Nice rig. If i buy one, think i'll choose the brushless version to get even better low speed.😉
Love your videos so informative im hoping you can give me some advice iv got a mcue edition k5 that I put the brushless kit you featured previously with the sliders but mines cogging on the bottom end and remote keeps blinking have you had these issues? How can I fix it iv tried using the app to little avail
My light blinks constantly on my radio too. I was never able to get that to go away. For the cogging, check your firmware version. Sometimes you have to reset to factory settings as well..
The first switch does your throttle (forward/reverse, or forward/break/reverse), the next does your battery type, the others do your drag brake settings. Check the manual to confirm, but I am pretty sure thats the sequence.
They’ll get saturated with water. If you’re driving in wet conditions a lot of the time I would suggest a 3D printed insert and tire venting. Two holes in opposite ends of the tire. That should drain okay
So...axial and horizon hobby are the same, fms and rochobby are the same, furitek and hobbyplus are the same... any other combos I need to know? Lol.... also, since amazon doesn't have everything nor is the cheapest, what other website is THE website amongst crawler/trail hobbyists to or RTRs and parts? (I've found a couple but want to know if there is an industry standard) thx
thanks for the vid. like your pov. But the rig itself just isn't any leap forward... like the yearly new cell phone, no leaps. too much slop, 2-speed is not necessary, and the issue with the torque twist has been around for a long time and could have been addressed here. no innovation. hp could surpass fms but it hasn't, even though fms hasn't made any innovation since 2022 neither. a kit would have been awesome instead; bringing back options that we could customize including choosing motor type, single or 2-speed, and opposite running driveshaft already done.
They take a while to ship depending where you get them, but hobby plus has a bunch of stuff available for them. Rcawd also has a good assortment of Cr18p parts that will fit
Why don't they put 1.9s on it and stretch the wlbs to 313? I mean, as soon as any size comes out, they get people to empty their wallets by making the next one just a little bigger. Duh, bigger wheels and tires, with a longer wheelbase and wider track is ALWAYS going to be more capable than a smaller truck. i don't know how many 1:1 crawlers run 22" wheels with 48" tires, but that's what we have here. It's kinda lame.
That's what is seems to me too. Im feeling the burn with all these SCX24s, but can't deny how nice all the 18th scale looks. Appreciate your deep dives into these crawlers, helps a lot with what to spend on.
So after the fx118 hobbyplus releases this awesome piece of marvelry and furitek re-releases the cayman with one of the ugliest bodies yet in rc. Either way im looking forward to the brushless version of this. For 219 it will be unreal once there is a fix for the flop

I've seen the brushless version after a couple days I ordered the brushed version.
I just purchased this rig...should be fun.
I honestly really hope they are working on that🤘😅 been thinkin on that for a bit now too. Fingers crossed man😅
@acetiv8 I hope our patience will pay off haha
@@caseys_cozy_garage we got this😅
It’s gotta be in the works. Axial isn’t a company that likes❤ to be left behind of long.
They won't make money, plenty of aftermarket support for upgrades.
???- Do you think it could be narrowed a bit for running on SCX24 indoor courses? Could those hex extenders be removed or would that slam the wheels into the knuckles?
Thanks Adam!

I have the cr-18p rock van, it makes a clicking noise when driving on the rocks and turning is there any way to fix as I haven't seen exactly it's problem
Interesting I have the Furitek version & have not broke anything yet & ive had it on some very grippy steep terrain. More people are getting them so I’m hoping everyone starts to upgrade & mod them mine came with a Light kit & I installed it getting some metal beadlocks as well & metal axles I love the 2 speed the Fury is super slow so you can’t move it any distance without having to pick it up.
hi, i've the brushless version too. Do you know the function of the dial switch? (1-2-3-4) Thanks:)
@@Casitascrawlers thanks
Is it the same receiver/ESC box than the cr18P (ref : FS R4A3-B) ?
Nice rig. If i buy one, think i'll choose the brushless version to get even better low speed.😉
Definitely the driveshafts are weak. Twisted the rear on the bl version. I'd still buy it again
I'll make room on my shelf for that!
It's very cool. But the money we put out for these , and they break on first run is very disappointing. But your video's are the best thanks.
Hoping that was an isolated incident. I'll keep the community updated on its longevity
Just got my fcx24 for christmas and now this
That's a solid rig though. Enjoy!
Question what are the little switches for a on the remote? Sorry never had a remote with these on.
The first switch does your throttle (forward/reverse, or forward/break/reverse), the next does your battery type, the others do your drag brake settings. Check the manual to confirm, but I am pretty sure thats the sequence.
Awesome! What about this vs the harvest (truck) version? Other than the body are they the same?
They are much different. The Evo has a unique chassis layout and wider stance
@@CapeCrawlers thanks man! I thought the harvest had an EVO version too...
I had a question about my Trx4m
Why is my servo mount hit my upper links.
The low price point definitely shows in the overall build quality.
Damn it !! just pre ordered one!! look awesome great video
Where did you get the steel driveshafts? Thanx...
Rcawd
really curious about how different the size compares to the scx24 and the trx4m. Like can it live in the same space
Yes, it’s like a low and wide trx4m.
oh great i just got an scx10 pro, now i need to feed my addiction with this....
Good performance but loses points for scale detail and proportions, no one would confuse a photo of that with a real truck.
if you vent the tires is it still reasonable to drive in water, or will they just get filled up ?
They’ll get saturated with water. If you’re driving in wet conditions a lot of the time I would suggest a 3D printed insert and tire venting. Two holes in opposite ends of the tire. That should drain okay
excellent, i will try to find some that fit my tires. im new to this hobby, finding it amazingly fun/addictive thanks for the advice@@CapeCrawlers
Great truck but they really should’ve released it with overdrive to be “comp”.
now all you got to do is fix the slop in the drive train.. its not very good but if you fix it wow its just better.
What replacement drive shafts fits on it?
I used shafts from the FX118 furywagon. I recently replaced them with steel units from RCAWD: amzn.to/3HymHGV
Never seen you almost fall off that bridge. Almost looked like it was too wide for the bridge
I already put my order in
I know what im going to get!! Thank you for an awesome review
thanks for the vid. like your pov.
So much for the beefy drive shafts lol
Weak point for sure
1,000...looks like I will be making another purchase.
What wheels are on the fury wagon they look great 👍
LGRP cyclone beadlocks
Where did you get that wooden test thing? With the rti index and all that
It’s from crawler park. I found it on Amazon but you can buy it direct from toyswd
@@CapeCrawlers awesome! I couldn’t find on Amazon that’s why I had to ask
Are parts easy to get for this truck?
You ever order those hobbysoul tires?
No, I completely forgot
I’ve been waiting for this……
sold until 13:13 :)) T_T great review as always :D ^_^
Did anything break or bend in the beginning of the video..?
Only breakage I had was the driveshaft piece while on the course
Traxxas TRX4m or Hobby Plus CR18p Evo Pro?
For performance the evo pro. For scale looks, TRX4M
Gotta have one now. Why do they keep releasing kool stuff right after I complete a build? Haha
The timing is never good lol
Ok, ok, ok. Big question: 24th or 18th scale? What are we building obstacles for? Someone needs to pick a lane.
The trend seems to be 1:18 but I wish it were 1:24! My course is nearly obsolete with the bigger ones
That's what is seems to me too. Im feeling the burn with all these SCX24s, but can't deny how nice all the 18th scale looks.
Appreciate your deep dives into these crawlers, helps a lot with what to spend on.
After seeing this now I don’t wanna upgrade my scx24 c10🤨
The c10 sure looks nice though!
So after the fx118 hobbyplus releases this awesome piece of marvelry and furitek re-releases the cayman with one of the ugliest bodies yet in rc. Either way im looking forward to the brushless version of this. For 219 it will be unreal once there is a fix for the flop
Someone in comments says his has issues, recommends brushed version instead.
@@TrokaRC thanks for the heads-up
Your comment on the Furitek body LOL
I want!!
Love it
So youre telling me i spent like 700bucks on my scx24 (+the car prize) for acar worse/as good as this like 180bucks one?
Bruh
Yeah😂
That's rc sometimes leaving them stock and fixing parts that actually break is ideal.
check out the. Cayman pro v2
Got it on the bench! Video coming soon!
@@CapeCrawlersDAAANG! you get your truck fast! Mine is on the way! I can't wait for your video!
@@CapeCrawlers have you also checked out the radiomaster MT12?
Instead of a 2nd gear it should have dig
Completely agree
Hey axial game over 😢😅😊
so its 1/18;scale i guess?
Yes correct, the cr18p is an 1/18 scale platform
