- In this episode of Shared Perspectives Lukas Rosander, Hodon Ali, and Benedicte Haugaard talk about how they viewed the U.S. in their childhood. What are some aspects of American culture that influenced these Europeans when they were children? And why do so many people across the world have a connection to American culture from an early age?

As a foreigner myself living in Norway I find janteloven a very down to earth way of thinking, like you can be the best version of yourself and still be humble, low profile and inspire others. Has nothing to do with fear whatsoever.
yess janteloven
Yeah, let's kinda just forget our native language and only talk, like, American from now on?
You mean ruined by. American way of living is the worst
Really? You prefer...ohh I don't know....Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia?
@@feonor26 i'd rather not become a human bowling ball like the average Americano
@@LøvæFråNordnStill, saying it is the WORST is kind of extreme
We learned that "America is the greatest country in the world" that every new cool thing came from USA, that "made in USA" meant quality, and that USA saved the entire world in WW2.
When growing up, and learning more about the world, we understood that NOTHING of this is true at all.
After learning about how USA really is and travelling over the Atlantic and by own eyes see how USA unfortunately are, we conclude that Reaganism and decades of extreme rightwing politics has turned USA in to a third world development country.
And unfortunately we can't find a single coup or conflict in the world since ww2 without american fingerprints
Influenced by propaganda.
So... Would I be wrong to assume the US is starting to activate some foreign contingencies in preparation for something they expect to happen soon?
See I'm to lazy to do the leg work but I'm willing to bet you'd find videos from other embassies in other countries running a mirror of this video, right?
True. All embassys do the same. But theres a difference between peaceful coexistence and bombing schools and hospitals as part of war strategy.

Oh I completely agree although I feel it worth mentioning that I wasn't levying support for anyone, just stating a hypothesis for the motivation behind your administrations reasoning in greenlighting this.
Also, not the best choice of examples either when considering American military history for those of us born before the 90's with a working memory.
As far as the Russians go, since you brought it up.
I'd assume most of the world is starting to see them as a trumped up bogeyman used by the defence ministry to excuse military spending for decades now.
It is weird as a ton of Scandinavians view the US in a negative light too
@@LøvæFråNordn
How come it's weird though?
We are one of the countries with the highest english literacy and since we are outsiders we get to see the political chaos and media manipulation more clearly as outsiders than most americans are ever able to.
@@XD-cf6gr well true 👍🏻

What is American culture centred around?

Why is this an advertisement? Is this some campaign to raise America's self esteem or something?
Sleeper agent McMuffin at your service
Hvorfir er dette en reklame? Og hvorfor i helvette er den på engelsk? Denne reklamen vil bare øke amerikanernes syn på seg selv som verdensherrer.
The american propaganda 💀
"culture"? 😅
Could you please give me an e-mail address to the US Embassy. I am 86 years of age and do not have any of your accounts on Facebook, Instagram, twitter or Linkedin.
My memories go back to WW2 and the famine in Amsterdam in 1944-45 and the help from the US we received afterwards.
Definitely feel them on this one
Good lord make it stop
I remember the invasions and racism
Name me a country that doesn't have or have had elements of that?
Lol

@@ge7581 Hmm well, they did sail from Iceland to Greenland and then further to New Foundland where they ended up having a conflict with the american native population.
@@feonor26 The ones who sailed there were norwegian by blood. The icelandic natives hated the vikings.
Lego? Hmmm it's Danish 😍 but yeah it's right it's not much different between the influence of the children in USA and Europe
