So, was Mogensen furniture designed more for corporations? Maybe that was why it was comparatively the same price as Wegner's pieces because contract furniture tends to be very expensive, but not necessarily attractive. It's more about durability thus being typically straightforward and boring. I think that last few quotes explains what I'm saying, so does not make Mogensen "wrong", just that his focus is less about beauty and more about durability and function.

Yeah, you're right. He wasn't wrong per say. But he was wrong when he claimed architects shouldn't experiment though. Sometimes experiment are essential, even if the result is rubbish and not possible to produce.

Danish manufacturing may have set an unavoidably high minimum price for Mogensen's designs, perhaps larger manufacturers in large markets could have achieved his goal of democratic pricing? I too prefer Wegner's designs - I want the furniture in my home to be more than practical, I want it to bring me some joy when I look at it.

You're probably right. The furniture were intended to be mass-produced, but nowadays they're sold as exclusive design objects. Id doesn't need to be a problem, but it's not what Mogensen intended when designing them. And yeah, we also prefer Wegner, his pieces are generally a but more fun to look at. But the Spanish chair and Hunting chair are definitely beautiful though.
