Remember my dad driving one of these when I was a kid best time's of the summer holidays out with the old man and his truck miss these days now I'm in my 50s
Ive driven that in the past when John Huddlesden had it and took it to a few Atkingson events -loaded! -its a beast for sure. Steve is a top guy for letting you take his pride and joy for a run.
What a weapon. I'd love a go in that. I miss driving wagons with proper gearboxes; I had an Iveco 190-38 tractor with a Fuller in it, and an E14 ERF with an Eaton twin split.
How trucks cabs have grown and evolved over the years - from the early types like albion to these to the massive cabs we have these days where you can stand up and struggle to touch the ceiling! Great sounds from that cummins and the jake brake - which I think alters the valve timing and turns the engine into a resistive compressor as far as I know? Thank you for sharing!
@@Dudleymiddleton they sure have. And yes that is basically what it dose. It works on the exhaust side of the stoke when the piston is almost at the top.
The giggle factor is brilliant…….same goes for the whole lorry too. Jake brake sounds bloody great. Brought a grin to my face every time you blipped that Jake. 😆😆😆
KED505P was new to Northwest Freighters at Haydock. It had an NHC25O in it then and, of course, was 4x2 and day cab. It was very quick for an Atki, like 80+ quick.
It actually had a Nightingale sleeper cab on it when NW Freighters operated it. I was under the impression from the late Tommy Jensen, that it had had the sleeper from new
@@Mr_b_yorkshire_farmer do you know what a crash gear box is it aint a fuller trust me i have being driving trucks over 50 years if you dont get the revs right it aint going in gear most people dont no what double clutch means
@@normancameron6165 a fuller box is what you call a constant mesh box. It works with different type gears to a crash box. When using a fuller box. You dip the clutch once. To disengage the clutch. The. The second time you push the clutch to the very bottom going up the gear to engage the clutch Brake for a faster change. Brings back some memories. Retired now, I miss the trucks but not the job.
Awesome truck
What a throaty exhaust, when driving was a skill, loads of gear changing and double clutch
Thanks
Missed your updates
Geoff

Great lorry sounds lovely god I miss the old stuff 😢
You’re so lucky 🍀 who needs a radio with that throaty roar 🦁
Now that’s what you call a real British waggon fuller box Cummins engine good old Atkinson
You really were enjoying that Richard - like a kid in a Toy Shop just before Christmas - Well done sir 🚚
Just beautiful that Mr B 😍 nothing beats a hummin Cummins & that Jake brake. With a tad extra on the injector settings and pump just sweet 👌
Plenty smiles per miles there Richard sounds awesome with the Jake brake, great motor Steve .
Awesome, I miss driving stuff like that
Proper truck and sounding just right. The top of that gear stick made me think Eaton twin split when I first saw it 👍
If that's five lane ends you just came round, you aren't far away from me. Nice to see you keeping the old girls alive.
Nice to see a gear change with the palm of the hand, 👍
Good old days, They were Men in them Days, Strong men my Dad was my Dad used to Fixs the Lorrys in them days

I was about to ask if it was Huddlesden's old one
@@bigjohn7609 Yes John but it had the higher roof back then etc...
The Atkinson was amazing with that Cummins Engine & sounds amazing, so much better than a Gardner Slogger unit.

Boy That Motor Sounds Good 🎶✅💪🏻✌🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Passed me on the m56 about 1994 going to shotton paper Mill, i was in a mercedes 1625 artic at 38 tonnes, i arrived about half an hour behind him😂😂

I remember that in Scunthorpe in the 1990's isn't it yellow now and moved up North , "Huddy's Hero's" 🙂
Big kid!
Best combo you could have - Cummins + Jake + 9 speed Fuller, bomb proof and safe.

What a sound😎🚚💨💨💨
Brilliant. I’d love to have a ride in that!!
Can't beat the sound of a big angry Cummins engine😂😂
That Aki pulls better than my 520 MAN

That's sound is mint , don't make trucks like that now 😅😅
Brilliant your the kid on the gear stick brilliant
That’s tidy 🏴
Awesome
Going from double clutching to not using the clutch at all 😅😅
@@JohnOBrien-v5z your point been ? Or just an observation?
Is that a direct top gearbox, Rich, with that gear pattern? The usual overdrive box is forward for top gear.
@@chrisg6086 yeh. That’s it chris. 👌
You did not need too double clutch with a fuller, that was in fifties trucks

What a lot of gear-changing. It must have been very tiring for the drivers.
Never tiring for a good driver😊
A long side of foden and e r f
Not for getting Ford Bedford and Leyland and scammell
There is no such thing as "too much Jake".
