    Only people who weren't fans of a twin splitter were the ones who couldn't drive it properly, easy fast shifts when used to it and understood how an engine works and rev matched 💪🤣

      Very presumptuous comment. 🤣 I've got to say it's the last gear box I'd fit to a lorry. obviously I can drive one as the video proves. Give me a Road Ranger anyday. Being presumptuous my self I'm thinking you know my opinion on these gear boxes already? Love your handle by the way. 🤣

      in my opinion the twin splitter was the best. For not loosing power dropping a gog going up hill. And the old road ranger comes close second. Have you still got the E series. I've had MANs with the twinsplitter box and a iveco eurostar Daf 85 aswell as fodens and erf. we fitted a twin splitter into a foden alpha after we had issues with the Eaton 16 speed

      Yeah, the cheap old plastic pigs. Really common among the oil companies as they came adr spec as standard. I work for a major oil company and knew plenty of bp drivers who were glad to see the back of these plastic pigs. When they changed to Scania with auto transmission they were jumping for joy. If ERFs were any good they'd still be here along with foden, Leyland etc.

  • @terenceburchett6122
    @terenceburchett6122 Год назад +6

    What was all this about? Yes, I drove an Eaton twin splitter but given the choice, the Fuller was a far better box by a Country mile! I had ERF's with 290's and 320's and also had 265 RR B Series and previously A Series with 250 Cummins but the Fuller box in all of them. My experience of the Eaton was that you had to concentrate too much on what you were doing, listening to engine constantly to pick out your gearchange. That's a pain in the ass compared to the ease of a Fuller. Do you remember Agency drivers efforts on an Eaton? I do, they were baffled and unsafe to drive them! Caught out of gear too often and in dangerous situations. THAT IS THE REASON EATON'S WERE GIVEN THE BOOT! The men that matter, Employers came to the conclusion that they were too difficult to drive for younger drivers! You can keep the Jake brake and your Eminox . I loved my Erf but later preferred my Volvo F10 for peace and quiet AND COMFORT!

      Said every man who couldn't drive a twin splitter 😘🤣

      Even though I drove Eatons for a long time I still got caught out occasionally. I was ascending a very steep hill, in the wet, with a full load and down changed into too high a gear and so losing all momentum. I couldn't get any traction to move from rest and had to reverse a quarter mile left hand bend to start from the bottom; luckily it was just after midnight and there was no traffic. The other great joy was when the gear knob detached ( happened to me several times).
