    Nicely done Richard! I used to use the clutch (mostly) on RR boxes when I drove them back in the 90's ..its there for a reason ...as you say! What a lovely old girl and that is certainly an "Aussie" cab that I remember as a young fellow down here. Very nice driving and smooth gentle changes...takes me back and I miss the gear changing .
    Thanks for the ride!
    Cheers Gregg.

    Absolutely awesome that, done well getting it fixed up too. Don’t see too many of them left now even here (aus), they were properly tough trucks.

    What a lovely truck you’ve restored that Cummins sounds great , my dad drove an Atkinson with a 220 Cummins you could hear him coming for miles ,his dog could hear him before anyone else and would go and sit down the drive waiting for him

    Would have cost you a few pounds to container it back to Blighty? Most of them in Australia had the Gardener diesel in them. "Doncaster" on the door, is that Doncaster in Melbourne or in the UK? Great restoration, you done the old truck proud. Atkinson, Foden, Bedford, Commer and Leyland were once big in Australia but when Volvo, Scania, MAN and Mercedes Benz arrived that was the sunset for the British trucks.

    • @Mr_b_yorkshire_farmer
      @Mr_b_yorkshire_farmer  3 месяца назад +4

      Doncaster in the U.K. it was many years ago now and the price of a container was much cheaper. Still it was quite a lot resting on it for a working man. As I only got the cab I think it was originally on a 8 71 as there was two vent holes for the air cleaner. Funny how things changed around back then. I think that they were thought of as good reliable old buses. Thank you for you kind words.

    Can I ask a question from Australia, what was buggered about the fiberglass cab? is it a 290 cummins? I'm just smirking, it's a pommy truck back in England doing Aussie shit on the road!! Now that is something!!

    • @Mr_b_yorkshire_farmer
      @Mr_b_yorkshire_farmer  3 месяца назад +2

      Inside the fiber glass there is metal and wood. Both were in very poor condition and some had to be replaced. All the door cards had to be re made as they had rotted away. It had also a mast hole where someone had ripped open lifting the cab. I will do a video at some point. It’s the little 220 12l Cummins. Needs lots of Rev to make it go properly. Thanks for your comment
