We also suggest where to stay in Guatemala. Most importantly, we highlight the best places to visit and things to do while traveling Guatemala! Tikal National Park is a must-see destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Located deep in the tropical rainforest, Tikal is home to some of the most incredible and unique wildlife in the world. Are you looking for an exciting boat tour that will take you to some of the most amazing places in Central America? Look no further than a private boat tour from Rio Dulce of Lake Izabal with a visit to San Felipe Castle, the Black Lagoon and Livingston Guatemala. Starting at the Spanish-built San Felipe Castle, you’ll get to experience its well-preserved and cool-looking structure, artifacts, stories and views. Then, you'll gain perspective as you see how natives live in a fishing village on the way to the Black Lagoon, an area filled with lush vegetation, incredible wildlife and a sort of magical peace. i normally just bring a suitcase full of school supplies and drop off directly to a school in a pueblo when i travel. are these tours via los amigos hostal? did the travel agency sponsor your trip. having private tour guide and driver doesn't seem travelling on the cheap. I've seen the Garifunda guy in a differnet video. where does he hang out/ I'd like to him as a tour guide. the salad tostado looks amazing..what's it called and how much? what time do the night markets for street foods start. that's yummy looking.

    • @GoTravelOnTheCheap
      @GoTravelOnTheCheap  5 месяцев назад

      That's nice to hear! No, these are not Los Amigos Hostel's tours, but we did have a fantastic stay there. We like to say, everyone has their version of traveling on the cheap. 😇 And in countries like Guatemala where the USD stretches so far, we can afford things that we would not be able to afford in other countries.
      From what we have been told, Philip Flores (the Garifuna guy) passed away.
      We invite you to go watch our video called Guatemalan Street Food You Want To Eat! for more info about the food there, pricing, etc.
      All the food we had in Guatemala was so tasty; you will love it!

      We did not get sick... We know from traveling to other countries not to drink the water, or even use it while brushing your teeth. Everywhere we ate had good enough hygiene practices so we felt totally safe eating at them 🙂

    You both show all the beautiful areas, but what about all the crime infested slums and poverty. There is a reason why thousands are escaping Guatemala for the United States.

    • @GoTravelOnTheCheap
      @GoTravelOnTheCheap  Год назад +3

      Yes, Guatemala is a very poor country. We did not see any "slums", however. We did see a lot of poverty-stricken areas. And this is precisely why we were moved to start this charity campaign to build a school and bring books into it (and other schools) 😇

    We will most certainly be donating to the charity for the building of a school in Guatemala. What a wonderful and selfless act that you two are doing to promote literacy to the children and providing them the opportunity to advance their education.
