Yes, it's about a break up, but it's also about how hopelessly and absolutely she loves him. She knows there's nothing she can do but say 'it's okay' and let him go, even if she has a sliver of hope still lingering that they'll be what they once were. It's a breathless and painful feeling and she really isn't sure where to go now, wanting 'to be a car, lighting up the night' to show her the way. It's the truest part of human emotion and romance, representative of love and not just breaking up.(:
“Your voice becomes my home” is not just a statement from someone who’s breaking up with someone It’s about loss. Loss out of your control. Loss that takes a part of you with it
It's okay, I don't even cry All I think about is a memory And the dream when you kissed my arm As I look away, don't hear what I say That maybe when I die, I get to be a car Driving in the night, lighting up the dark Something in your voice, sparks a little hope I'll wait up for that noise, your voice becomes my home One way road, don't care what I find A little thunder's good, I thought maybe you would But it's okay, we all feel left out Sometimes growing up, it can get you down. I give you som
Vincent Gonzales I give you something that no ones gona give you my sleeping skin and my heart deep down in you I'll never tell you But you're my little scar goodbyes are hard and they're hard and they're hard maybe when I die I get to be a car Driving in the night Lighting out the dark Something in your voice Sparks a little hope I'll wait up for that noise Your voice becomes my home.
This is one the best rock songs ever. No hyperbole. I always think that if this song was Fleetwood Mac and sung by Stevie Nicks or a Norah Jones song, it would be one of their most played songs!!!! It's perfect from start to finish!!
played this song at a fire with a group of friends. everyone stopped talking and listened. we proceeded to talk about when/how this song meant most to us...I think we can all agree we all became better friends after that. Thank you Land of Talk.
Limitless. I explore relentlessly and find tons here and Tidal and musical friends.Tidal and Spotify are somewhat helpful in steering you to your taste.
Kinda wild to think how transient our emotions are and how many beautiful ones were never recorded. Makes you appreciate the ones that were all the more
This song and video are burned into my memory. My stepsister and I were up late one night in high school at a time when we were still watching MTV like people used to. This was on one of their late night/indie programs and it is the single most beautiful song I found on that channel. Listening puts me right back in that feeling of heartbreak and confusion I had throughout high school... But with music like this? To give voice to that heartbreak? It was a certain kind of beautiful.
Same. I go months at a time without listening to it but I always come back... and it always takes me back to where I was when I first heard it so many years ago.

Oh this song! Pure beauty!!! My ex introduced me to this song, we used to get so buzzed, drinking and smoking, put this song on while I was laying in his arms and I would always cry. I have had many soul cleansing cries while listening to this song, the lyrics tug at my heart strings, it's amazing how something can be so beautiful.
If you ever find anything I hope you think of me & let me know. Lol i need more of her voice in my life. Does she have social media where we can see what she's up to?
I know what you mean! There is a Facebook page where she announced some local Canadian shows this past summer. I contacted her record co. too, but they just said that they too would be excited to hear more from her, but that they had no news to report to me.
going through a really rough time at the moment and stumbled upon this song, it's been such a comfort and just an overall beautiful song to boot. i hope the next time i come back to this comment, i can look back at the hard times as just something of the past.
Helped and continuously helps me to cope with the downs that life offers. I discovered this song from a book's playlist I think around February 2021. I'll be forever thankful for that discovery. I feel so connected with every words stitched into this. And listening to it while literally shedding tears, God, it's the only thing that keeps me sane. It's like being cradled really. I'm so thankful for this song's existence.
this is a beautiful song and video. showed it to the homies during a rough acid trip several years back and they all calmed down. soothing gem of a jam
first time I heard the song I just came out of a really hard time in my life I just kicked a 10-year drug habit and learning how to start picking up the fractured pieces of my broken heart the song when I came across it seem to soothe my soul its imagery first brought me into it and its lyrical structure kept me there this is a great song I love it to death.

Liz has one of the very best voices around today, 2024. This song is a monster hit, period.
still remember blasting that first album in 2007. it's crazy how much time passed since then.
How many songs are out there...this good...that no one ever hears? Makes me want to explore.
Agreed! That's what brought me here, a friend told me it was one of his top favorite underrated songs. Now I'm so curious to find all of them :)
Really! Great in 2022 as well.
