/ qtv Montreal buzz band Land of Talk were CBC Q's Friday live guests performing three songs off their new album 'Some Are Lakes.' This is 'It's Okay.'
Love this band and song. One of those timeless tunes I keep going back to. The ending is what does it for me...subtle but powerful build up. Very cool.
I feel like singing a beautiful song like this takes some concentration. This is obviously not an easy song to sing, and the way Lizzie sings it is absolutely beautiful.
Has land of talk broken up? Saw them several times in land of Cleves between '05 to '07 and even had an opportunity to share a smoke and hang with liz on one occasion. So sad that for one show, only like 10 people showed up. So sad for an amazing band. Love this song, especially live...
I just hosted them in Seattle last week! They were the absolute NICEST people. I just found this video and it feels like I'm watching an old friend play now
When Lizzie breaks into what I guess you'd call the bridge and there's the abrupt fall back into the chorus, I shiver ..."I'll give you something that no one's gonna give you. My sleepin' skin and my heart deep down in you. I'll never tell you, you're my little scar. Goodbyes are hard and they're hard and they're hard...." I can't wait to get my ass kicked by the music they're going to come out with in the future.
So many things I could post now about how amazing a song Liz has written here, and how I love the way she sings it. Is it shallow of me then that what I really keep thinking when I watch this is that I want that guitar?
@Zososg I believe it's just an orange 'sun burst' paint job. You can get the 'sun burst' in many colors (blue, red, etc.). There are lots of great paint jobs for Les Pauls--not sure where you're looking.
Does anyone know what tuning they use? the tab on ultimate guitar is wrong, the G on the F# string is totally off. if someone can help me out that would be much appreciated. Thanks :)
@Mineav i own a 1960 les paul, i know what a sunburst is. but a sunburst is NOT a PAINT job. im talking about the design on the top of her guitar. the wavy lines. did you even look at her guitar? i have never seen a PAINT job on a les paul that looked good like this one. obviously an artist painted her les paul and it looks like theres a signature on it by the neck joint. i am dying to know who painted it
someone tell me about her les paul. i never see les pauls with paint jobs that actually look good. theyre always so lame looking (the paint jobs, not les pauls aha) but i like that one so much. is there a signature by the neck joint?
Don't know if they're gone but i hope not. I saw Jimmy Eat World when they were still known as "J.E.W.", and there were only 3 people. Just saying I hope they have the patience for the long haul. That's really the only way nowadays.
The ending of a relationship especially when it comes to love is like a death. We feel like we're dieing on the inside as we're literally morning the loss of that person.
@Zososg By an artist in Toronto or Montreal, most likely. But you can always ask her yourself: /user/ixheartxdinosaurs 99% sure that's her, and no BS. Source: watch?v=HoXMgswPITY (first comment)
this is one of the most beautiful songs in all of history
Absolutely beautiful. I found this band on a Spotify playlist called "The most beautiful songs in the world". The list was right.
I loved this song as a teenager in 2008, and now I'm 33. The Canadian indie rock scene is incredible. Hello from Ukraine 💙💛
God bless you and all Ukrainians! Great taste in music :)
I miss real music like this
me too 😢
There's still plenty of good bands. Snail Mail is a newer one you might like

I love how you can tell just how much she really means the words as she sings them.
I can't stop watching this.
That is the best looking guitar I have ever seen.
I gave a friend a Land of Talk record "Some Are Lakes". We love it, Love it. I hope, wherever you are Lizzie, you're being creative.

@Mineav according to a video that user uploaded, that users name is emily raw
Rare time you see her play a Les Paul and not her SG.
Give 'em hell, Liz!
@ilovemytsax
' should watch the music video of this tune.
alvinsh es baterista alv :v
JAJAJAJA con razón se tatuó la letra de la canción
GUITARISTS!!! Is this in an altered tuning? Anyone know any accurate tabs?
wow.
@starbuck1111
are thei a new band?
This is wonderful but Liz you should ditch that guitar for a Fender jazzmaster and plug it into an amp soaked in reverb. ;)
Como se llama la señorita
Elizabeth Powell

Does anyone know what this song is actually about? one second I think it's a love song, the next it's about death.
The ending of a relationship especially when it comes to love is like a death. We feel like we're dieing on the inside as we're literally morning the loss of that person.
@Zososg I see what you mean, now. It's just a custom paint job done by some random custom paint dude.
@Zososg By an artist in Toronto or Montreal, most likely. But you can always ask her yourself: /user/ixheartxdinosaurs

This song is still amazing though.

@31rS3RP3N7 not really probably a couple years old
@GodlessWhore nope. I'm an atheist. and not suicidal, which is why it makes my hair stand up.
